Hello and welcome to today’s blog post, which is a little bit of card making and a little bit of sharing! I know I’ve been gone from posting for a few weeks, but sometimes you just need to take a break and enjoy life! Back in July, my husband and I adopted a 14 week old Catahoula puppy, which was not even in the plans for us. We currently have a 13 year old Boston Terrier (Teagan) and a 5 year old Catahoula (Kinsley) and had already talked about our next dog would be another Catahoula, but were going to wait. Occasionally I do search to see if there are any close by (the closest has been 5-7 hours away, they are a southern dog) and it just so happened that a rescue located in the Maryland Eastern Shore had three puppies from a Louisiana rescue, a female and two male siblings, and I just couldn’t pass up the opportunity that close by. To make a long story short, we welcomed Julep into our little pack! If you’ve ever had a puppy, you know how much work they are, which does take up a lot of my time, especially after I brought her home. But, she has fit right in with Teagan and Kinsley, is growing each day, and will start her puppy classes soon!
Next was our family vacation in Corolla, NC, with my in-laws, younger son (Cody), and older son and family (Jacob, Sierra, Ella, and Adaline). We all had a wonderful time and I am so thankful that my in-laws were able to fly out here from the west coast and my sons were able to take leave! Last year we cancelled, my in-laws didn’t feel comfortable flying and neither of my sons were allowed to take leave due to Covid. My in-laws stayed a few days longer and Cody stayed another week after we came back from Corolla, which I did need a few days to get back on track….ok, I took longer than that, but hey…lol!
But now, it’s time to get back into my creative groove and kick off some fun Halloween cards and crafts! Saturday I shared a fun card featuring the Frightfully Cute bundle for the Stamp It Group’s Blog Hop and today I will share a fun alternative card featuring the Textures & Frames stamp set, which you can earn for free during Sale-A-Bration, which ends September 30th!
The base layer is a piece of Basic White cardstock, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”. I used the solid circle stamp to first stamp in Pumpkin Pie ink (stamp off once first), then stamped in Granny Apple Green ink (stamp off once first), and then used the small splatter stamp in Gorgeous Grape ink to “fill in”:
For the card front, you will need:
1. Use the spiderweb die from Frightful Tags Dies to die-cut from a piece of Black Glitter Paper.
2. Use the sentiment from Well Defined, masking the bottom of the stamp, and stamp in Memento ink on Basic White cardstock. This is die-cut out with the curvy die from Frightful Tags and then I used the splatter stamp in Gorgeous Grape ink, stamping off once first.
3. Enough of the Black & White Gingham Ribbon to tie into a bow around the bottom of the base layer.
4. Three of the 5mm and two of 7mm Pumpkin Pie Cute Stars Adhesive Backed Sequins, not pictured.
I used liquid glue at the center of the die-cut spiderweb to adhere to the base layer and dimensionals to adhere the die-cut sentiment piece as shown. I used my Stamparatus to stamp the spider stamp in Memento ink three times to get a nice dark image, tied the ribbon along the lower part of the base layer, and placed the adhesive backed stars as shown. This completed piece is adhered to a Basic Gray cardstock card base, cut at 4 ¼” x 11”, and scored at 5 ½”:
For the inside, cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼”, mask the upper part of the sentiment from the card front and ink the lower part of the sentiment in Memento ink, stamp the witch in Smoky Slate ink (stamp off once first), the moon in So Saffron ink (stamp off once first), the pumpkins in Pumpkin Pie ink, and the potion jars in Gorgeous Grape ink:
