Welcome to part one of my three-part series featuring Valentine’s Day Cards! Each blog post will feature two cards giving alternative ideas featuring some current and some retired Stampin’ Up! products and even some Paper Pumpkin. Don’t worry if you do not have a retired product that is used, you can easily swap it out for what you have on hand or for something that is current.
Both cards today feature Paper Pumpkin January 2017, Adoring Arrows, and what alternatives I created. If you have never tried Paper Pumpkin, I highly recommend it! Each month is a surprise and you may get a card or a 3-D project, such as Adoring Arrows, and you receive everything you need to make the project and even have some left over! For Adoring Arrows, this kit made Valentine themed treat bags, however, I do not have little ones or the need for treat bags, so the hunt was on for alternative ideas.
The card above started with Thick Whisper White card stock, cut at 4 ¼” x 11” and scored at 5 ½”. The base layer is from the Painted with Love DSP, cut at 4” x 5 ¼” and the rest of the products are from the Paper Pumpkin (PP) kit, but the lip stamp is from the Sealed with Love stamp set. I first cut the foil bag from the PP down and then punched the end using the Banner Triple Punch, adhered one of the Calypso Coral Vellum banners from the kit on top, and then used one of the white die-cut hearts to stamp the lips in Versamark and heat embossed it in Gold Embossing Powder. After adhering the base layer and the banners to the card base, I put a small amount of Fast Fuse in the middle of the area that I was going to place the arrow. After putting the gold foil stickers on the wooden dowel (all from the PP kit), I placed the wooden dowel on the Fast Fuse, then placed a Stampin’ Dimensional on each side (about where the heart will be placed) of the wooded dowel, put a small amount of Fast Fuse on the back of the heart, and then placed over the dimensionals and pressing down on the heart to basically keep the arrow in place. Then you can stamp the inside with your sentiment.
For this second card, the card base is in Sweet Sugarplum, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½”and scored at 4 ¼”. The base layer is in Whisper White card stock, cut at 4” x 5 ¼” and the stamps used are from the January 2017 PP and from the Sealed with Love stamp set. The love stamp is stamped in Sweet Sugarplum and the heart outline are stamped in Sweet Sugarplum and Rich Razzleberry, all randomly on the base layer. Then the mini heart, happy valentine’s day, and I adore you stamps where stamped in the heart outlines using Blushing Bride, Sweet Sugarplum, and Rich Razzleberry ink (these are from the PP kit). The white die-cut heart is from the PP kit, which I stamped sending love (from the Sealed with Love set) in Sweet Sugarplum and then used a Sponge Dauber to sponge Sweet Sugarplum around the edge. The gold foil heart is from one of the bags in the PP kit, which I used the fourth largest heart from the Sweet & Sassy Framelits. Using the gold thread from the PP kit, I wrapped that around the base layer, adhering on the back. Finally, adhere the base layer to the card base and then use Stampin Dimensionals on the hearts and layer those over the gold thread. The inside sentiment is from the kit, stamped in Rich Razzleberry, and the hearts along the bottom are from the Sealed with Love stamp set, stamped in Sweet Sugarplum and Rich Razzleberry.
Please contact me if you have any questions about the products used on this or any other project. I hope you enjoyed this card and thanks for stopping by!
