Welcome to part two of my three-part series featuring Valentine’s Day Cards! Each blog post will feature two cards giving alternative ideas featuring some current and some retired Stampin’ Up! products and even some Paper Pumpkin. Don’t worry if you do not have a retired product that is used, you can easily swap it out for what you have on hand or for something that is current.
This first card was CASE from Linda Cullen from her Coffee & Crafts Facebook Live Class and you can see her card here. Now, I do not have the Hexagon Dynamics Embossing Folder, but I knew I had something that I could easily substitute.
The card base is in Thick Whisper White card stock cut at 4 ¼” x 11”, scored at 5 ½”, and the base layer is in Whisper White card stock cut at 4” x 5 ¼”. You will also need some scrap Whisper White, Vellum, and Basic Black card stock.
Starting with the Whisper White card stock base layer, use the 3rd largest curvy heart from the Sweet & Sassy Framelit Dies, place about 2/3 up, and run thru the Big Shot. On the scrap piece of Whisper White card stock, stamp the detailed bee in Memento ink twice from the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set, then use the detailed be thinlit from the coordinating Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits to cut them out, and use the same thinlit again on the scrap piece of Vellum card stock. The bee image on the Whisper White card stock is then colored in using the Light Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends marker and the vellum piece is then adhered using the Fine Tip Glue Pen. Since I do not have the Hexagon Embossing Folder, I used a piece of DSP from the Love Blossoms DSP Stack (retired), which was cut at 3” x 3”, and then I placed Stampin Dimensionals on each corner on the back and around the heart on the back of the Whisper White card stock, adhering the piece of DSP. Using the scrap piece of Basic Black card stock, cut at ½’ x 3”, stamp the letters from the Labeler Alphabet set in VersMark and heat emboss in White Embossing Powder, trimming the end with the Banner Triple Punch, and then place a small amount of Snail Adhesive on the front to adhere to the inside of the heart, towards the bottom, and then some on the back to secure placement. I used Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals to place the bee’s around the heart, added a piece of Rose Red Grosgrain Ribbon (yeah, really retired!) around the bottom and then adhered to the card base.

For this second card, I wanted to create something not typical for a Valentine’s Day card and This Little Piggy came to mind. I thought the Hogs & Kisses and the lips stamps would be cute to use!
The card base is in Pool Party cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½”, scored at 4 ¼”, and the base layer is from the Sending Love DSP stack (retired) cut at 5 ¼” x 4”. On Whisper White card stock, stamp the Hogs & Kisses stamp in Memento ink and then use the 2nd largest curvy heart from the Sweet & Sassy Framelits to cut out. Then color in using the Light Old Olive, Light Pink Pirouette, Dark Pink Pirouette, Light Smoky Slate, and Light Pool Party. The lips are stamped in Real Red ink and the cloud image is stamped in Pool Party ink. Using the leftover heart image from the card above (see what I did here??), stamp the lips in Real Red randomly around and then adhere both hearts to the DSP base layer. The Whisper White Solid Baker’s Twine is wrapped around three times, tying into a bow, and then I added some Rhinestone Basic Jewels to give it some bling before adhering to the card base. The inside sentiment is stamped in Real Red and Pool Party inks from the This Little Piggy and the Adoring Arrows stamp sets.
Please contact me if you have any questions about the products used on this or any other project. I hope you enjoyed this card and thanks for stopping by!
