Life is a Beautiful Thing

Hello and welcome to today’s card, featuring another faux Stained-Glass technique! To create this version, I used the butterfly from the Springtime Impression Thinlits Dies, Watercolor Pencils, Watercolor Paper, and Champagne Foil Sheets!

I first started with a piece of Watercolor Paper, cut down to fit the butterfly die (3” x 4”), and then embossed using the Big Shot Embossing Mats:

I next colored the wings using Calypso Coral, Melon Mambo, and Rich Razzleberry Watercolor Pencils and used the medium tip Aqua Painter to blend the colors:

I heat embossed Clear Embossing Powder two times over the image. This is achieved by pressing the VersaMark pad directly to the paper, sprinkling Clear Embossing Powder, and then using the Heat Tool:

Cut a piece of the Champagne Foil Sheet and Multipurpose Adhesive Sheet to 3” x 4”, adhere the adhesive sheet to the back of the foil sheet, and then run the butterfly die through the Big Shot (no messy glue to adhere to the Watercolor Paper):

Cut out the butterfly outline from the Watercolor Paper, remove the adhesive backing from the foil butterfly, and then lay over the embossed butterfly:

Here is a close-up of the butterfly:

The card base is Crumb Cake cardstock, but at 5 ½” x 8 ½”, and scored at 4 ¼”:

The base layer is from the Petal Promenade DSP, cut at 4” x 5”:

The sentiment is from the Colorful Seasons stamp set, heat embossed in “Champagne” Embossing Powder (this is made combining Gold and Silver Embossing Powders):

The card front is completed by adhering the butterfly with Mini Dimensionals, using the Detailed Trio Punch on two opposite corners, the Share What You Love Artisan Pearls in Petal Pink and Rich Razzleberry, and then adhering to the card base with dimensionals:

The inside sentiment is from the Special Celebrations stamp set on Whisper White cardstock, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”, stamped in Crumb Cake ink. The flowers on the bottom are from the Colorful Seasons stamp set, stamped in Petal Pink and Rich Razzleberry inks:

So what do you think of this version? This was fun and easy to make, but the only thing that I was disappointed in was that the Rich Razzleberry and Melon Mambo Watercolor Pencils looked too similar after using the Aqua Painter.

I will definitely do this again, but next time I am going to use the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits Dies and ink, so stay tuned!!
