Hello and welcome to today’s blog post, which is a fun and easy Valentine’s Day card featuring the Country Bouquet Bundle and Dandy Designs 12” x 12” Designer Series Paper! Since you get so many sheets (48!!) from the Dandy Designs DSP, I decided to create a non-traditional colored card for Valentine’s Day. Even though I only made four cards from one sheet, you could easily make 16 cards from using all four sheets of this one design! What makes this card so easy, is there is no die-cutting involved! As a bonus, you can also make these cards for any occasion, just change the inside sentiment.
The base layer for the card front is this design from the Dandy Designs DSP, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”. I cut the 12” x 12” piece first into three 4” x 12” pieces, cut two of the pieces down into four 4” x 5 ¼” base layers and four ¾” x 4” strips for the inside of the card, and then cut the last piece down into four 3” x 4” pieces that will also be used for the card front, but using the opposite side design of the DSP:
For the rest of the card front, you will need:
1. Cut a 3 ¼” x 4 ¼” piece of Blackberry Bliss cardstock.
2. A 3” x 4” piece of the opposite design DSP, which will be layered on the above cardstock.
3. From Old Olive cardstock, I used scissors to cut a “stem”.
4. On Basic White cardstock, I stamped the double heart stamp two times in Blackberry Bliss and Fresh Freesia inks each and punched out. I mixed and matched the large heart with the small heart in the opposite colors.
5. On Basic White cardstock, I stamped the leaf stamp in Old Olive ink and punched out.
6. You will need enough of the Black & White Gingham Ribbon to tie into a small bow.
7. On a ½” x 3 ¼” piece of Basic White cardstock, I used my Stamparatus to stamp the sentiment in Blackberry Bliss ink and used the scalloped side of the Happy Labels Pick a Punch to punch each end.
8. You will need one of each size of the Iridescent Rhinestone Basic Jewels, not pictured.
Using liquid glue, I adhered the large heart to the stem, one leaf behind the heart, one leaf in front of the heart, the small heart to the large heart, and a glue dot to adhere the gingham bow. This is adhered as shown to the DSP and cardstock layered piece, mini dimensionals to adhere the sentiment across the bottom, and this completed piece is adhered slightly askew to the DSP base layer. The assembled card front piece is adhered to a Blackberry Bliss cardstock card base, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½” and scored at 4 ¼”. I then placed one of each size of the Iridescent Rhinestone Jewels to the card front as shown:
For the inside, cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼”, stamp the sentiment in Blackberry Bliss ink, and adhere the ¾” x 4” strip of DSP along the bottom:
For the coordinating Basic White Medium Envelope, I first stamped the small outline double hearts in Blackberry Bliss ink and then the small solid double hearts in Fresh Freesia ink:
For the alternative card using the opposite color punched hearts, I adhered both the DSP and cardstock slightly askew, just to give you a different look:
How fun is this card? I love the color combination of Fresh Freesia and Blackberry Bliss, but you can easily substitute your favorite color that you like to pair with Fresh Freesia. I know that I have been using the Country Bouquet Bundle for Valentine’s Day cards, but you can use this for other cards as well!
