Hello and welcome to today’s blog post, which is a fun celebratory card featuring the Bright & Beautiful Suite! This super cute and fun suite is perfect for any number of celebrations, but for me personally, I’ll get the most use for making birthday cards! In case you didn’t notice, the colors used for the Bright & Beautiful 6” x 6” DSP has all the new and returning core colors, except for Pecan Pie, which is great for us “collectors” (aka hoarders, lol) and still have cardstock on hand from the retired In Colors that returned this year for the core color refresh! I really wanted to create a card with this suite that could be used for any person of any age, and using the color combination of Pretty Peacock, Lemon Lime Twist, and Berry Burst works for me! Since I was having a little creative fun, I decided to use two sheets of the Bright & Beautiful DSP to make three of these cards!
I chose these two sheets of DSP from the Bright & Beautiful DSP, first cutting a ¾” strip off the bottom, and then cutting into 1” strips, which will give you one ¾” x 6” strips and six 1” x 5 ¼” strips from each 6” x 6” DSP. For each card, you will need two 1” x 5 ¼” strips from each DSP sheet, using both sides, to create the 4” x 5 ¼” base layer for the card front:
For the rest of the card front, you will need:
1. Cut a 3” x 4” piece of Pretty Peacock cardstock.
2. Cut a 2 ¾” x 3 ¾” piece of Basic White cardstock, stamp the sentiment along the bottom in Berry Burst ink, and use the streamer stamp to stamp two times each in Lemon Lime Twist, Berry Burst, and Pretty Peacock inks. This will be layered on the above piece.
3. Use the three, outline balloon dies to die-cut the large from Lemon Lime Twist cardstock, the medium from Berry Burst cardstock, and the small from Pretty Peacock cardstock. I used the large confetti stamp to stamp in Lemon Lime Twist ink on the large die-cut balloon, the small confetti stamp to stamp in Berry Burst ink on the medium die-cut balloon, and the small confetti with streamers stamp to stamp in Pretty Peacock ink on the small die-cut balloon.
4. Use the small star die to die-cut two from a Gold Foil Sheet.
5. From the Neutrals Adhesive-Backed Sequins, you will need two small and one large in gold, not pictured.
Using liquid glue, adhere the four 1” x 5 ¼” strips to a 4” x 5 ¼” piece of Basic White cardstock and adhere the layered sentiment in the middle. I adhered the die-cut balloons directly to the cardstock, used dimensionals to adhere the die-cut gold stars as shown and adhered this piece to a Pretty Peacock cardstock card base, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½” and scored at 4 ¼”. For the balloon strings, I used a small sticky note as a mask to partially stamp a short balloon string in Misty Moonlight ink and then placed the three gold adhesive-backed sequins as shown:
For the inside, I stamped the sentiment in Pretty Peacock ink and adhered the ¾” x 6” strip along the bottom, trimming off the excess. Note-there are only two ¾” x 6” strips, so one card will not have this, but you can use any of the stamps to decorate along the bottom instead:
For the coordinating Basic White Medium Envelope, I stamped the medium balloons twice in Lemon Lime Twist ink and the strings in Misty Moonlight ink:
What a fun birthday card! You can easily make three different cards by just changing the colors for the inks and cardstocks! This is a fun alternative way to use your 6” x 6” DSP to make multiple cards!!
