Coloring with Stampin’ Blends

Hello and welcome to today’s card, which features the new stamp set Humming Along and the new 6” x 6” Gingham Gala Designer Series Paper from the 2019 Occasions Catalog! Not only is Humming Along a brand new “cling mount” * stamp set, but it also has coordinating dies. This is a beautiful set and a great way to get creative with Stampin’ Blends. If you don’t have any Stampin’ Blends and would like to try them, then this set would be a great way to start. Just simply pick out a few colors that you would use to start with and then slowly add a few more every time you order. I will admit that I was a little hesitant to color with the Stampin’ Blends at first, but there are so many great examples out there and the best way to really become “comfortable” is to stamp and color away! Today I am making a super easy card that you can make in a few minutes, so let’s get started!

The card base is Thick Whisper White cardstock, cut at 4 ¼” x 11”, and scored at 5 ½”:

fullsizeoutput_2ecb

The base layer is Highland Heather cardstock, cut at 4” x 5 ¼” and is embossed with the Subtle Dynamic TIEF:

fullsizeoutput_2ece

For the card front, I stamped the flower in Memento Ink on Whisper White cardstock and colored in with Light Granny Apple Green, Light Highland Heather, Light Daffodil Delight, and Light Calypso Coral Stampin’ Blends. I used a piece of the Highland Heather Gingham Gala DSP, which I trimmed 1 ½” off one end, turned the paper, and cut that in half at 3”. If you cut the 1 ½” piece in half, you will have two pieces measuring ¾” x 6” and two pieces measuring 3” x 4 ½”, which you can make two cards from this piece of DSP. The ¾” x 6” piece will be for the inside of the card. You will also need enough Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon in Whisper White to go around the base layer and tie into a bow:

fullsizeoutput_2ed1

To assemble the card front, adhere the DSP to the base layer at a slight angle, wrap the tulle ribbon around the base layer and tie into a bow, adhere the flower with dimensionals, and then adhere the completed piece to the card base:

fullsizeoutput_2ed4

For the inside of the card, the sentiment from the set is stamped in Highland Heather ink, the leaves are stamped in Old Olive ink, colored in with Lemon Lime Twist Stampin’ Write Marker, added some Wink of Stella, and the ¾” piece of DSP is adhered along the bottom, trimming off the excess. If you notice, the inside piece has a smaller gingham pattern than the front piece, all of the DSP has one side in a big and one side in a small pattern:

fullsizeoutput_2eda

Wasn’t that quick and easy? I chose to use Light Granny Apple Green and Light Calypso Coral Stampin’ Blends because they were the closest to Grapefruit Grove and Lemon Lime Twist, which are two of the colors besides Highland Heather, Daffodil, and Balmy Blue (which Balmy Blue is going to be available in the Occasions Catalog, along with Mossy Meadow) in the Gingham Gala DSP.

*What are Cling Mount Stamps? They are the rubber stamps, but Stampin’ Up! has developed a new film cling to place on top of the stamp. The old image film that are on the older stamps either curled or just didn’t stick very well to the clear blocks and I, like most, just didn’t bother using them. Well, the new ones work very, very well and if there is any TIP I can pass on is that you do need to be careful when peeling the stamp off the case or block, start at the smallest point (if possible), and use the spatula end of the Take Your Pick tool, it’s very useful!

Sneak peak of Butterfly Gala from the 2019 Occasions Catalog!

Hello and welcome to today’s card, which is a sneak peak of the Gingham Gala Suite from the upcoming 2019 Occasions Catalog! For those of us that attended Onstage in Orlando, we were actually able to preorder certain products from the 2019 Occasion and Sale-A-Bration catalogs and I could not wait to order the Butterfly Gala Bundle:

fullsizeoutput_2d88

There are actually two new bundles coming from the Occasions Catalog featuring butterflies! I am so excited because I have been waiting for Stampin’ Up! to bring back either a punch or dies, so if you are like me, you won’t be disappointed. What drew me to the Butterfly Gala stamp set was the details on the butterflies because there are so many creative ways you can use this set, whether you color with. Stampin’ Blends, Watercolor Pencils, Stampin’ Write Markers, Brusho, or no coloring at all (which is what I did). Then you add in a coordinating punch, this was a must on my first purchase list! So when I sat down to create this card, I really wanted to show you how beautifully detailed these stamps are:

fullsizeoutput_2d6a

To create this card, first start with a piece of Thick Whisper White cardstock for the card base, cut at 4 ¼” x 11”, and scored at 5 ½:

fullsizeoutput_2d64

For the base layer, I used a piece of the Gingham Gala 6” x 6” DSP in Grapefruit Grove, cut one side at 1 ½”x 6”, and then cut the remaining piece at 3” along the 6” side. This will give you two pieces at 3” x 4 ½” and one piece at 1 ½” x 6”, sooo you can make two cards at once! I wanted to also show you both sides of the new DSP, one side has the bigger check and the other side has the smaller check:

fullsizeoutput_2d67

If you notice, the stamp set comes with four butterfly designs and these are the three that I am using:

fullsizeoutput_2d6d

On a piece of scrap Whisper White cardstock, I stamped the butterfly image in Memento ink. I then created a template with the coordinating punch so I could stamp the body in the correct spot (or close to it) for when I punched the images out. Using the Stamparatus for the process is VERY helpful:

fullsizeoutput_2d70fullsizeoutput_2d73

I next stamped the sentiment on a piece of Whisper White cardstock in Memento ink, punched it out with the Pretty Label Punch, punched out another piece from the Silver Foil Sheet, and then cut that in half to layer behind the sentiment:

fullsizeoutput_2d76fullsizeoutput_2d79

I adhered the 3” x 4 ½” piece of DSP to the card base, tied a piece of Grapefruit Grove Grosgrain ribbon in a bow, adhered the sentiment with dimensionals, and then adhered two small and two large butterflies with mini dimensionals to finish the card front:

The inside sentiment is stamped in Grapefruit Grove ink and then I adhered the two remaining butterflies with mini dimensionals:

fullsizeoutput_2d85

What do you think?? I just love the simplicity of this card, but it looks stunning with the Grapefruit Grove for the “pop of color”!! I pretty much ordered everything from this suite and there is also coordinating DSP and wood elements that you can earn from the Sale-A-Bration catalog with a qualifying purchase! Yay for Butterflies!! lol

Words of encouragement

Hello and welcome to today’s card, which is a stunning card featuring the Beautiful Promenade Bundle and the Petal Promenade Designer Series Paper! The Petal Promenade DSP was a must on my list from the Annual Catalog and I recently decided to purchase the coordinating stamp set and dies bundle. I was really on the fence for a while about this bundle, but after really looking at all the creativity with it and really seeing the sentiments, I caved in! lol The card I am featuring today is one that I made for someone very special to me because having a beautiful card to express your love and support during a difficult time can mean the world to them.

The card base is Thick Very Vanilla cardstock, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½”, and scored at 4 ¼”:

fullsizeoutput_2c9a

The base layer is from the Petal Promenade DSP, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”:

fullsizeoutput_2c9d

For the card front, you will need enough Gold Metallic Edge Ribbon to go around the DSP, Gold Metallic Pearls, use Gold Foil Sheets to cut out the detailed thinlit from the Beautiful Layers Thinlits Dies, and stamp the sentiment from Beautiful Promenade stamp set in Versamark and emboss in Gold Emboss Powder on Petal Pink cardstock, then cutting out with the circle thinlit from the Stitched Labels Thinlits Dies:

fullsizeoutput_2ca0

To assemble the card front, adhere the ribbon around the base layer and adhere this to the card base. Next, adhere the sentiment to the foil sheet, adhere this piece to the DSP with dimensionals, and then place the Gold Metallic Pearls in the center of the flowers on the DSP:

fullsizeoutput_2ca4

The inside sentiment is stamped in Versamark ink and then heat embossed in Gold Emboss Powder. The hearts along the bottom are from the Stitched Labels Framelits, cut out from Gold Foil Sheet:

fullsizeoutput_2ca7

This is such a beautiful suite and I am so happy that I decided to purchase the stamp set and coordinating thinlits! Much to my surprise and goes to show you that I was not paying attention when I placed my order, but one of the thinlits actually cuts the DSP so you can layer on the inside of your cards! I always kick myself when I think back on how I missed out on the thinlits SU! sold so you could insert DSP to the inside of your card and even though I figured out a template that works for our envelopes, this was an even bigger win for me! I love to decorate the outside of envelopes and now I can make the inside pretty too!!

Card making with Kindness & Compassion

Hello and welcome to today’s card, which is featuring the Kindness & Compassion stamp set. While there are other wonderful sets that can be used for a condolence card (Lilypad Lake, Rooted in Nature, and Itty Bitty Greetings to name a few), what caught my eye for this set is the versatile sayings. Whether you are sending sympathy or appreciation for someone else’s wishes to you, this set gives you several beautiful sentiments!

This is a quick and easy card with a little bit of stamping! You will start with a Thick Very Vanilla card base, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½”, and scored at 4 ¼”:

fullsizeoutput_2c8b

The base layer is Highland Heather cardstock, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”, and embossed with the Subtle Dynamic TIEF:

fullsizeoutput_2c8e

To complete the rest of the card front, you will need a 4” x 4” piece of Petal Promenade DSP, a piece of Very Vanilla Lace Trim tied in a bow, and the sentiment stamped in Highland Heather ink on a ¾” x 4” piece of Very Vanilla cardstock, using the Banner Triple punch on the end:

fullsizeoutput_2c91

To assemble the card front, adhere the DSP to the embossed base layer, adhere this piece to the card base, adhere the sentiment with dimensionals, and adhere the bow with a glue dot:

fullsizeoutput_2c94

The inside sentiment is stamped in Highland Heather ink and the flowers along the bottom are from the Beautiful Promenade stamp set, which I used a Sponge Dauber in Highland Heather and Old Olive inks:

fullsizeoutput_2c97

This is a quick and easy card to make when you need one right away and with these beautiful sentiments, any can be used!

Thanksgiving Cards with Country Lane-p3

Hello and welcome to today’s cards, which are part three of my three-part Thanksgiving cards made with the Country Lane Suite! This is a great way to make your Thanksgiving cards and use up that Designer Series Paper by making eight cards from one sheet! If you missed my two previous blog post, part one shows you how to cut the DSP, the coordinating cardstock, and the first two card designs I made, and part two shows the next two card designs. Today we will be making the final two designs, which will give you a total of eight cards.

I used the final three pieces of Mint Macaron cardstock, cut at 4 ¼” x 11”, and scored at 5 ½”, for the card base.

For the card on the left, I cut a 4” x 5 ¼” piece of Galvanized Metallic Paper, embossed it with the Corrugated Dynamic TIEF, and adhered to the card base:

fullsizeoutput_2c21

For the front of the card, you will need a Galvanized Clip, Braided Linen Trim, the 4” x 2” piece of DSP, and the sentiment from Country Home stamp set is stamped in Mint Macaron ink, masking the bottom of the sentiment with tape, stamping on a piece of Whisper White cardstock, and cutting out with a Stitched Labels Framelit:

fullsizeoutput_2c1e

To assemble, tie the linen trim in a knot, adhere the sentiment to the DSP, and then attach the clip. This is then adhered to the base layer with dimensionals:

fullsizeoutput_2c24fullsizeoutput_2c27

The inside sentiment and image stamps are stamped on Whisper White cardstock, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”, in Mint Macaron ink:

fullsizeoutput_2c2a

For the card on the right, use a piece of 4” x 5 ¼” piece of Blackberry Bliss cardstock, emboss with the Subtle Dynamic TIEF, for the base layer and then adhere to the Mint Macaron card base:

fullsizeoutput_2c54

For the card front, use the 3” x 4” piece of DSP, tie a piece of the Braided Linen Trim around into a bow, stamp the sentiment from Country Home in Blackberry Bliss ink on a piece of Whisper White cardstock, cut out with the fourth largest scalloped square from the Layering Squares Framelits, adhere to the DSP with dimensionals, cut a 1 ½” x 2” piece of Galvanized Metallic Paper (this was a scrap piece that I had), punch one end with the Banner Triple Punch, adhere to the back of the DSP, and then adhere this completed piece to the base layer:

fullsizeoutput_2c57

The inside sentiment is a 4” x 5 ¼” piece of Whisper White cardstock, the sentiment from Country Home is stamped in Blackberry Bliss ink, the can and flowers are stamped in Memento ink, and these are colored in with Light and Dark Mint Macaron, Light and Dark Blackberry Bliss, Light and Dark Old Olive, Dark Cajun Craze, and Dark Mango Melody Stampin Blends, with Wink of Stella on the cotton blooms:

fullsizeoutput_2c5a

Aren’t these easy?? The card on the right I made two of since I had two pieces of 2” x 4” DSP. This will give you a total of eight cards!! Isn’t this a great idea and inspiration when you have several cards you need to make, like for birthdays, thank you, and holidays! Thank you again to Ronda Wade for sharing this fun and easy idea and inspiring me!!

Thanksgiving Cards with Country Lane Suite-p2

Hello and welcome to today’s cards, which are part two of my three-part Thanksgiving cards made with the Country Lane Suite! With Thanksgiving right around the corner and a hectic upcoming schedule, I’m sharing two more cards that I made from one sheet of Country Lane Designer Series Paper! Having a simple template to cut your DSP to makes it so much easier to get creative and make cards for any occasion! If you missed it, my previous blog post gives you the template for cutting this one sheet to create eight cards.

Both of these cards are made with the card base of Thick Whisper White cardstock, one sheet cut at 5 ½” for the measurement of 5 ½” x 8 ½”, and scored at 4 ¼”.

For the card on the right, I used one piece of DSP cut at 3” x 4” and one piece cut at 4” x 4”, layering them and then adhering to the card base:

fullsizeoutput_2c30

For the sentiment from the Country Home stamp set, I stamped it in Mint Macaron ink on a ½” piece of Whisper White cardstock, and flagged the ends with the Banner Triple Punch. I adhered some Gold Metallic Thread to the back and then adhered this to a piece of Cajun Craze cardstock cut out with the second largest Stitched Shapes oval. This is then adhered to the front with dimensionals and I added some Gold Metallic Pearls:

fullsizeoutput_2c2dfullsizeoutput_2c33

The inside is stamped in Mint Macaron ink from the Country Home stamp set:

fullsizeoutput_2c36

For the card on the right, I adhered the 4” x 5 ¼” piece of DSP to the card base:

fullsizeoutput_2c3c

Additional elements for the front are a piece of Cajun Craze cardstock cut out with the second largest Stitched Shapes oval, a piece of Chicken Wire Element that I cut to 1 ½” (a whole piece measures 4” x 5 ½”), and I stamped the can with the flowers and sentiment on a piece of Whisper White cardstock in Memento ink, colored in with Light and Dark Mint Macaron, Light and Dark Blackberry Bliss, Light and Dark Old Olive, Light Mango Melody, and Dark Cajun Craze Stampin’ Blends Markers, adding Wink of Stella to the cotton blooms, and then cutting out:

fullsizeoutput_2c39

I used a small amount of Snail on the left side to help adhere the Chicken Wire Element, adhered the flower pot to the Cajun Craze oval, and then adhered this to the card front with dimensionals (this covers the snail):

fullsizeoutput_2c3ffullsizeoutput_2c42

The inside sentiment from the Country Home stamp set is stamped in Mint Macaron ink:

fullsizeoutput_2c45

Wasn’t that quick and easy?? Now I have five cards made from one piece of DSP that I really would not have used and these cards turned out awesome! Stay tuned for my next blog post that will show you the final two cards!

Thanksgiving Cards with Country Lane Suite

Hello and welcome to today’s cards, which are part one of my three-part Thanksgiving cards made with the Country Lane Suite! With Thanksgiving right around the corner, going to Orlando for OnStage, and then family coming right after that, it was time to get on those cards! I chose the Country Lane Suite from the 2018 Holiday Catalog for my Thanksgiving cards this year, but where to start?? Sometimes when Designer Series Paper is a little “busy” it can be overwhelming and you may not use that side of the paper, but I wanted to challenge myself. Recently I watched a FaceBook video from Ronda Wade (8 cards in about 20 minutes, her page is @trainingwithrondawade) and she showed how to make 8 cards from one sheet of Designer Series Paper and I loved the simplicity of the cuts! Instead of taking my favorite design from the Country Lane DSP, I took a sheet that I probably would not use and cut it right up, which inspired me to make my 8 cards that I’m sharing with you.

You will start with a 12” x 12” sheet of DSP and cut it into three 4” strips. The first strip you will cut two pieces to 5 ¼” and save the scrap leftover. The second strip you will cut two pieces to 3”, one piece to 4”, and save the scrap leftover. The third strip you will cut one piece to 5 ¼”, one piece to 2”, and then save the leftover piece for accents:

fullsizeoutput_2c5d

You will also need four sheets of coordinating cardstock, so I used one sheet of Blackberry Bliss, one sheet of Thick Whisper White, and two sheets of Mint Macaron. The sheet of Blackberry Bliss and Thick Whisper White cardstocks were cut into two pieces measuring 5 ½” x 8 ½”, scored at 4 ¼”, and the Mint Macron sheets were cut into two pieces measuring 4 ½”x 11”, scored at 5 ½”.

For the card on the left, I used Blackberry Bliss cardstock for the card base, one sheet of DSP cut at 4” x 5 ¼” for the base layer:

fullsizeoutput_2c11

For the front of the card I stamped the sentiment from the Country Home stamp set in Blackberry Bliss ink on Whisper White cardstock and cut out with the second largest Stitched Shapes oval, I cut a piece of the Chicken Wire Element in half, used the biggest Stitched Labels Framelit to cut out in Crushed Curry cardstock, and you will need enough Braided Linen Thread to tie around the front panel into a bow:

fullsizeoutput_2c0e

To assemble the front, place a small amount of adhesive on the DSP to adhere the Chicken Wire Element, adhere the layered sentiment on top with dimensionals, and tie the linen trim around into a bow:

fullsizeoutput_2c14fullsizeoutput_2c18

The inside sentiment is on a piece of 4” x 5 ¼” Whisper White cardstock, the sentiment is stamped in Blackberry Bliss ink, and I cut the scrap leftover in half (this will give you two piece of ¾” x 4”) and adhered along the bottom:

fullsizeoutput_2c1b

For the card on the right, I adhered the leftover scrap for accents (measures 4” x 4 ¾”) to the Mint Macaron card base:

fullsizeoutput_2c48

The sentiment is stamped in Blackberry Bliss ink on Whisper White cardstock and cut out with the second largest Stitched Shapes square, adhered two of the Leaf Trinkets with glue dots, and embossed a 1 ¾” x 4” piece of Galvanized Metallic Paper with the Tin Tile Dynamic TIEF and used a sponge dauber with Early Espresso ink over it, which gave it a slight purple/pink sheen:

fullsizeoutput_2c4b

The embossed paper is adhered to the card base and then the sentiment is adhered with dimensionals:
fullsizeoutput_2c4e

The inside sentiment is on a piece of 4” x 5 ¼” Whisper White cardstock and the sentiment and shape are stamped in Blackberry Bliss ink:

fullsizeoutput_2c51

So, I made two of the card on the left and one on the right, which gave me 3 cards so far. On my next post I will show you the next two card that I made from this one sheet of DSP, so stay tuned!!
