Be strong

Hello and welcome to today’s card, featuring the Nature’s Poem Suite, located on pages 142-144 in the 2018-2019 Annual Catalog. This is a great card that is quick and simple to make AND uses that leftover Designer Series Paper! I have some 3” x 3” squares left over from the card swap I participated in, so this is what I started with to create this card. If you have multiple cards that you need to make, cutting your Designer Series Paper into smaller pieces will also make it go farther!

The card base is Thick Very Vanilla cardstock, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½”, and scored at 4 ¼”. The card front is embossed using the Pinewood Planks Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder:

fullsizeoutput_1f97

From the Nature’s Twine, I used a piece of Crumb Cake and Blackberry Bliss twine, which I tied in a knot and frayed the ends:

fullsizeoutput_1f9a

I had this piece of designer series paper from Nature’s Poem DSP, 3” x 3”. Stamped on a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock, I used Soft Suede and Mossy Meadow Stampin’ Write Markers to color the tree image from the Rooted in Nature stamp set and cut out with the coordinating framelit from the Nature’s Roots Framelits Dies:

fullsizeoutput_1f9d

The tree is adhered to the DSP and then adhered to the card base with dimensionals. I placed some of the dimensionals around the twine to keep that in place:

fullsizeoutput_1fa0

The sentiment from this stamp set is stamped on Very Vanilla cardstock in Blackberry Bliss ink and then cut out:

fullsizeoutput_1fa3

The sentiments are adhered on the card front with Mini Dimensionals:

fullsizeoutput_1fa6

The inside sentiment is stamped in Blackberry Bliss ink and the leaves are stamped in Mossy Meadow and Soft Suede inks, stamping off on a scrap piece of paper first:

fullsizeoutput_1fa9

Wasn’t that quick and easy?? Not sure if there is enough twine to make 11 cards, but maybe I should’ve made this for my card swap! lol

The tree from the Rooted in Nature stamp set is heat embossed in Silver Embossing Powder and cut out using the 2ndlargest oval from the Stitched Shapes Framelits. Then I used Tranquil Tide cardstock to cut out the 3rdlargest oval from the Layering Ovals Framelits and to emboss and cut the leaf from the Nature’s Roots Framelits Dies. So much to love

Hello and welcome to today’s card, featuring the Garden Impressions Suite, which is located on pages 128-130 in the 2018-2019 Annual Catalog. The new catalog includes the Color Revamp, that introduces brand new and returning colors, so today I am creating with Shaded Spruce, which is a beautiful color of green! I just love how the cardstock makes this Designer Series Paper pop!

The card base is Shaded Spruce cardstock, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½”, scored at 4 ¼”:

fullsizeoutput_1f31

The base layer is from the Garden Impressions 6” x 6” DSP, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”:

fullsizeoutput_1f34

The sentiment is from the Abstract Impression stamp set, stamped on Whisper White cardstock in Shaded Spruce ink, and cut out using the 2ndlargest oval from the Stitched Shapes Framelits. The flower thinlit is from the Springtime Impressions Thinlits Dies, that I cut 1” squares in Powder Pink, Melon Mambo, So Saffron, and Calypso Coral cardstock and placed a strip of Adhesive Sheet across the back before cutting:

fullsizeoutput_1f37fullsizeoutput_1f2e

The ribbon is from the Metallic Ribbon Combo Pack, which coordinates with this suite, in Shaded Spruce and Petal Pink. These are adhered to the back of the oval sentiment, the ends are trimmed, and I placed the cut out flowers at the top and bottom:

The base layer is adhered to the card base and the sentiment is adhered with dimensionals:

fullsizeoutput_1f46

For the inside, cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock, 4” x 5 ¼”, and I cut the left over piece of 2” x 5 ¼” in half for a 1” piece. This is then adhered to the bottom of the Whisper White cardstock and the flowers from the Abstract Impressions stamp set are stamped in So Saffron, Calypso Coral, Powder Pink, and Melon Mambo inks:

Whether it’s for a birthday, thank you, or congratulations, this is a great card to send and let the recipient know that you are thinking of them! If you have been keeping up with this week’s cards, the picture below shows the leftover DSP that you can easily use to create one or two more cards!!

Hey, friend

Hello and welcome to today’s card, featuring the Garden Impressions Suite, which is located on pages 128-130 in the 2018-2019 Annual Catalog. When I first saw the Springtime Impressions Thinlits Dies, I knew this was a must have! If you haven’t checked this suite out or maybe you missed it, give it a look! If you take a closer look at the DSP from the Garden Impressions 6” x 6” Designer Series Paper, it almost looks like there’s Sweet Sugarplum in there!!

The card base is Powder Pink cardstock, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½”, and scored at 4 ¼”:

fullsizeoutput_1eef

The base layer from the Garden Impressions 6” x 6” DSP is 4” x 5 ¼”:

fullsizeoutput_1ef2

For this thinlit from the Springtime Impressions Thinlits Dies, I used Melon Mambo cardstock and used some of the Sizzix Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets on the back of the cardstock before cutting out. Helpful hint-use the Precision Base Plate to cut this out when using the adhesive sheets:

The sentiment is from the Itty Bitty Greetings, stamped in Melon Mambo ink on Whisper White cardstock. This is then cut out using the smallest oval from the Stitched Shapes Framelits and use Powder Pink cardstock to cut out the smallest scalloped oval from Layering Ovals Framelits and the flower from the Springtime Impressions Thinlits (I used a small piece of the adhesive sheet on the back of this):

fullsizeoutput_1efe

Adhere the base layer to the card base and remove the backing from the adhesive sheet to adhere the cut-out piece on top:

I placed the cardstock flower on a similar piece, used Wink of Stella on this and the roses, and placed the largest pearl from the Pearl Basic Jewels:

fullsizeoutput_1f04

The ovals are adhered together and then use dimensionals to adhere to the card front, I also added a piece of Whisper White 1/8” Sheer Ribbon that is tied in a bow:

fullsizeoutput_1f07

The inside is a piece of Whisper White cardstock, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”, the sentiment from Itty Bitty Greetings in Melon Mambo ink, the flowers are from the Abstract Impressions stamp set in Powder Pink and Melon Mambo inks, and then I adhered the leftover ¾” x 4” DSP along the bottom:

This is such a super cute card and you can easily change up the colors to use a similar piece of DSP! What do you think of this suite??

Card Swap Week part 3

Hello and welcome to today’s card, featuring the Nature’s Poem Suite! I was very fortunate enough to snag this stamp set when I was in Hartford for OnStage, so when I was able to place my pre-order, I absolutely ordered the DSP, Twine, and Leaves Trinkets!! The Designer Series Paper is absolutely stunning and I love the colors! While I am so very sad to see Vintage Leaves and the coordinating Leaflets Framelits retire, this is a welcomed replacement. Before I begin, I must confess that I completely forgot to take pictures as I was creating this card, however, it is so very simple that I will easily be able to explain it and I have ONE picture that I did take for stamping on Vellum cardstock that kind of has a close-up picture of the card front. What I will do, is recreate this card at a later date using different colors. 😉

  1. The card base is Petal Pink cardstock, cut at 4 ¼” x 11”, and scored at 5 ½”.
  2. The base layer is Gray Granite cardstock, cut at 3 ¾” x 5”, and is embossed with the Pinewood Planks TIEF that is inked up with Gray Granite ink prior to embossing (to do this, simply drag your stamp pad across the embossing folder).
  3. From the Nature’s Poem DSP, use this design cut at 3 ¼” x 4 ½.
  4. The tree trunk stamp from the Rooted in Nature stamp set is stamped in Sahara Sand ink with Early Espresso ink sponged around the edge with a Sponge Dauber and stamped on Sahara Sand cardstock. This is fussy cut out and sponged with Early Espresso ink around the edge of the cardstock.
  5. The sentiment is stamped on the trunk in Versamark ink and then heat embossed with Copper Embossing Powder.
  6. On Vellum cardstock, use the larger of the two leaf stamps and stamp once in Blackberry Bliss ink and once in Tranquil Tide ink. Use the smaller leaf stamp in Grapefruit Grove ink. These are all cut out with the coordinating framelit and adhered to the back of the tree trunk.
  7. The base layer is adhered to the card base at a slight right angle and the DSP layer is adhered at a slightly left angle. The tree trunk image is adhered on top with dimensionals.
  8. Using the Grapefruit Grove Twine from the Nature’s Twine bundle, tie in a small bow and adhere with a glue dot.

There you go! How easy is this card?? It’s not even Summer yet and I’m wishing for it to be time to make my Thanksgiving cards for friends and family!! Be sure to check back tomorrow as I share some of the card swaps I received back!!

Card Swap Week part 2

Hello and welcome to today’s card, featuring the Garden Impressions Suite! Continuing on from yesterday’s post, this is the second card that I created for the card swap I participated in. While it may look very time consuming, I have some tips and tricks that make it very easy!

The card base for this is the Right Angle Fold Over, which if you use an 8 ½” x 11” piece of cardstock, you will score it at 4 ¼” and at 5 ½” (directly in the middle on each side), then remove your score blade from your trimmer, line up the corners from top to bottom so they are in the cutting track, and then cut. This will give you two card bases. I used Mint Macaron cardstock to make the card base:

fullsizeoutput_1ecb

This thinlit from the Springtime Impressions Thinlits Dies is cut out of Glossy White cardstock that I precut to 5 ½” x 4 ¼” and used a piece of Multipurpose Adhesive Sheet, cut at 3” x 4”, cut again across corner to corner, adhered to the back of the Glossy White cardstock before going thru the Big Shot. Cutting the adhesive sheet this way will give you two pieces that you can use on each piece of cardstock so it will adhere to the card base and yet not waste any of the adhesive sheet. I then used a Q-Tip and colored in the flowers using Shaded Spruce, Petal Pink, Calypso Coral, Mango Melody, So Saffron and Melon Mambo inks:

fullsizeoutput_1ece

I used this design from the Garden Impressions 6” x 6” DSP, cut to 3” x 3” and used the corner rounder from the Trio Punch. I used the bigger sentiment framelit from the Lakeside Framelits, cutting it out first from Whisper White cardstock:

fullsizeoutput_1ed1

I made a template for this framelit so anytime I want to use it with my Stamparatus all I have to is cut it out and then line up the sentiment. Makes it much easier than trying to line up the stamp or the framelit:

fullsizeoutput_1edafullsizeoutput_1edd

I used my Bone Folder for the card front folds:

fullsizeoutput_1ed4

Removed the backing from the adhesive and placed on each flap:

fullsizeoutput_1ed7

Adhere a strip of each ribbon from the Metallic Ribbon Combo Pack across the DSP:

fullsizeoutput_1ee0

I placed some adhesive on the back of the sentiment piece to secure some Silver Metallic Thread, and then adhered on top with dimensionals:

fullsizeoutput_1ee3

To adhere the DSP piece to the card front, place some adhesive towards the upper right-hand corner and then place on top:

fullsizeoutput_1ee6

This was such a fun and creative card that I hope everyone enjoys! I really liked how the flowers turned out by using the Glossy White cardstock and a Q-Tip to color, you can really control how light or dark you want them to be. Making the template for the sentiment framelits really is great if you have a bunch of cards to make or just one! I created a template piece for each framelit from this set to use with my Stamparatus, another reason why you should have this awesome product!!

You are wonderful

Hello and welcome to today’s card, featuring the Lilypad Lake Bundle and Rooted in Nature stamp set! When I first started to create this card, I got out my Tranquil Textures DSP, and looked at my scraps to see if there is anything that would go together or something that I could create a card with, because who doesn’t have those pesky odds and ends of paper that get ignored?? So, I started with a piece of DSP in Fresh Fig and a piece in Crumb Cake and just went from there.

The card base is Fresh Fig cardstock, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½”, scored at 4 ¼”, and I used the Hardwood background stamp in Fresh Fig ink:

fullsizeoutput_1e58

I had this 3” x 6” strip of DSP from the Wood Textures 6” x 6” DSP and trimmed it down to 3” x 5 ½”:

fullsizeoutput_1e5b

I used these two scraps from Tranquil Textures DSP:

fullsizeoutput_1e5efullsizeoutput_1e61

The sentiment is from Rooted in Nature stamp set, stamped in Versamark and heat embossed in Copper Embossing Powder on a 1 ¼” x 3 ½” piece of Very Vanilla cardstock. Both pieces are then punched with the Banner Triple Punch:

fullsizeoutput_1e64

The heron is stamped on Very Vanilla cardstock in Early Espresso ink, colored in with the Light and Dark Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blend Markers, and cut out with the coordinating die:

fullsizeoutput_1e67

A piece of Copper Trim is tied in a bow around the Wood Textures DSP and then adhered to the card base:

fullsizeoutput_1e6afullsizeoutput_1e6d

The 3” x 3” piece of Tranquil Textures DSP is adhered with dimensionals, the sentiment banner piece is adhered with Snail, and then the heron is adhered along the edge with Glue Dots:

fullsizeoutput_1e70fullsizeoutput_1e73fullsizeoutput_1e77

The inside sentiment is on Very Vanilla cardstock, stamped in Versamark ink, and heat embossed in Copper Embossing Powder. I stamped and colored the inside heron the same as the front and then cut out two pieces of the grass from the Lakeside Framelits Dies in Crumb Cake and Early Espresso cardstocks:

fullsizeoutput_1e7afullsizeoutput_1e7d

I love how this card turned out and Fresh Fig, Early Espresso, and Crumb Cake are not colors I would have ever thought to have used making a card! I guess getting out those scraps and seeing what you can create can pay off!!
