Hello and welcome to today’s blog post, which features the new Daffodil Afternoon Designer Series Paper from the Sale-A-Bration Catalog! After the long week I had last week, this card almost didn’t happen! I went up to Maryland to help my son and daughter-in-law move their household down here into storage until they will officially move to the area in the spring, and it was exhausting for everyone. But hey, moving is exhausting no matter how prepared or help you have! I was thisclose to going and sitting on the couch with a blanket and a book, but since I was only able to organize my first shipment and check out the new Natural Tones Stampin’ Blends (which I LOVE btw), I thought I would at least get out some DSP and see if anything pops into my head for a quick card to make! When I took out the first sheet, Daisy Lane immediately came to mind, so I thought I would show you how to use this wonderful DSP beyond the Daffodil Daydream Bundle!
The base layer is this design from the Daffodil Afternoon DSP, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”:
For the rest of the card front, you will need:
1. Using Memento ink, stamp the small daisy stamp two times each on Very Vanilla and Crushed Curry cardstocks and punch out with the Medium Daisy Punch. For one of the Very Vanilla daisies, I colored in the center with a Flirty Flamingo Stampin’ Write Marker and for one of the Crushed Curry daisies, I colored in the center with a Stampin’ Chalk Marker. Trim down the Crushed Curry daisies as shown.
2. Use the largest scalloped Layering Circle Die to die-cut from vellum cardstock.
3. Cut a 6” piece of Fine Art Ribbon.
4. Stamp the sentiment from Daisy Lane on Very Vanilla cardstock in Memento ink and punch out with the smaller oval from the Double Oval Punch.
5. Use the larger scalloped oval from the Double Oval Punch to punch out of Mossy Meadow cardstock, which will be layered under the above sentiment.
6. You will need three of the Bumblebee Trinkets.
I used liquid glue to adhere the daisy and sentiment layers as shown:
I first placed the die-cut vellum cardstock in the lower right corner of the DSP (do not adhere), adhere the piece of ribbon across the die-cut vellum, adhere the sentiment on top of the ribbon, and then adhere the two daisies. I placed adhesive on the back of the vellum, behind the ribbon/sentiment and daisies, to adhere to the DSP base layer, adhered the ends of the ribbon to the backside of the DSP, adhered the DSP base layer to a Mossy Meadow cardstock card base cut at 4 ¼” x 11” and scored at 5 ½”, and then used glue dots to adhere the Bumblebee Trinkets as shown:
For the inside, cut a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼”, stamp the sentiment in Memento ink and the fern leaves along the bottom in Mossy Meadow ink, first and second generation:
I thought this design from the DSP was perfect for pairing it with the Daisy Lane stamp set and Medium Daisy Punch! For me, this DSP is very busy and I didn’t really like how the sentiments and daisies looked on the DSP, but then I decided to use some vellum to just “mute” the DSP so the sentiment and daisies didn’t get lost in the DSP design.
