Hello and welcome to today’s blog post, which is a beautiful any occasion card featuring products from the soon to be retiring New Horizons Suite! While I will surely miss this suite when it retires at the end of this month, I am still going to enjoy creating cards with these products, especially the New Horizons 6” x 6” Designer Series Paper! Some designs may take a little bit more creative thinking, but the design I am featuring could really be simply used on its own without any die-cutting accent pieces, however, I wanted to show you how to take this card up a notch with a little bit of die-cutting, ribbon, and embellishments!
For the card front, I chose this design from the New Horizons DSP, first cut at 2” across the top and then at ¾” down the right side. This will give you a 4” x 5 ¼” base, a ¾” x 4” strip for the inside, and a 2” x 6” piece for the envelope flap:
For the rest of the card front, you will need:
1. On Basic White cardstock, stamp the sentiment in Misty Moonlight (R) and use the second smallest rectangle Stitched Rectangle Die to die-cut out.
2. Use both mountain dies to die-cut two of each from Basic White cardstock.
3. You will need enough of the Misty Moonlight Cotton Ribbon to tie around the DSP base layer into a knot.
4. You will use three of the 4mm Iridescent Rhinestone Basic Jewels, not pictured.
After using liquid glue to adhere the two die-cut mountain layers together, I adhered one mountain directly to the DSP base layer and mini dimensionals to adhere the other mountain as shown, trimming off the excess from the mountain adhered to the DSP. Then you will tie the Misty Moonlight cotton ribbon around the DSP into a knot, used mini dimensionals to adhere the die-cut sentiment over the cotton ribbon as shown, and placed the three 4mm Iridescent Rhinestones on the die-cut sentiment as shown. This completed piece is adhered to a Misty Moonlight (R) cardstock card base, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½” and scored at 4 ¼”:
For the inside, cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼” and adhere the ¾” x 4” strip along the side. I left the inside blank so that I have a card ready for any occasion, just stamp the needed sentiment:
For the coordinating Medium Basic White Envelope, I used the flock of bird’s stamp to stamp in the bottom corner in Misty Moonlight (R) ink and adhered the 2” x 6” strip of DSP to the envelope flap, trimming off the excess:
How easy is this card to make?? I love the added accent of the die-cut mountains! This really is an easy way to add four more cards and coordinating envelopes to your stash! Even though the January – June 2022 Mini Catalog does not retire until June 30th, all retiring products are only while supplies last! As of right now, everything except the DSP is still available, but that could always change!
