Hello and welcome to today’s blog post, which is cute Halloween card featuring the Scary Cute Bundle and the (retired) Frightfully Cute Bundle! Bats, spider webs, scaredy cat, and trick or treaters – oh, my! This Halloween card has lots of fun elements that used this year’s Scary Cute Bundle and last year’s Frightfully Cute Bundle, which I paired with the Brick & Mortar 3D Embossing Folder, giving the embossed cardstock a distressed look with ink and a Blending Brush! I love the spider web die from the Frightful Tag Dies and thought it would be cute to add this die-cut element to the card front, however, if you do not have this die set, or something similar, you can omit the spider web die-cuts and still make this super fun Halloween card!
The base layer for the card front is Cajun Craze cardstock cut at 4” x 5 ¼”, embossed with the Brick & Mortar 3D EF, and use a Blending Brush with Basic Gray ink all over to give it a distressed look:
For the rest of the card front, you will need:
1. Using Vellum cardstock, place some adhesive sheet on the back of a piece big enough to die-cut two of the spider webs.
2. From Basic Black cardstock, use the third from the largest Stitched Rectangle die to die-cut out, the two large bat dies to die-cut out, and the scaredy cat. Use a Wink of Stella pen over both bat die-cuts.
3. From Crushed Curry cardstock, use the moon to die-cut out and the Blending Brush with the left-over Basic Gray ink to go around the edges of the die-cut moon and fussy cut a piece of cardstock to adhere behind the scaredy cat die-cut.
4. Use the second from the smallest Stitched Rectangle Die to die-cut from Old Olive cardstock, use a Stamparatus to stamp the trick or treater trio in Early Espresso ink, and use a Dark Old Olive Stampin’ Blends to create the shadow underneath the trick or treater trio. This will be adhered to the Basic Black rectangle die-cut.
To assemble the card front, remove the adhesive backing from the vellum die-cut spider webs and adhere them to the corners as shown, adhere the layered rectangle die-cuts, adhere the scaredy cat die-cut along the top of the rectangle die-cut on the backside, and adhere this piece to the middle of the embossed base layer cardstock. Adhere the die-cut moon to the layered rectangle die-cuts as shown and use black mini dimensionals to adhere the die-cut bats to the embossed base layer. This completed piece is adhered to a Basic Black cardstock card base, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½” and scored at 4 ¼”:
For the inside, cut a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼”, use a Stamparatus to stamp the trick or treater trio in the bottom corner with Early Espresso ink, stamp the moon in Crushed Curry ink, stamp the bats in Memento ink, and stamp the sentiment from Frightfully Cute in Cajun Craze ink:
For the coordinating Very Vanilla Medium envelope, use a Stamparatus to stamp the trick or treater trio in the bottom corner with Early Espresso ink, the moon in Crushed Curry ink, and the bats in Memento ink:
Isn’t this a super cute Halloween card?? With or without the spider web die-cuts, you can easily CASE this card! This card is a great reminder that you don’t always need DSP for your cards or just they are a great alternative to DSP!
