Hello and welcome to today’s card, which will be my final Christmas card I will be sharing with you for this season! If you’ve been following along, my goal this season was to use up ALL of my Wrapped in Plaid DSP and showing you how you can make the most out of your 6” x 6” DSP! With that being said, I started counting all my cards beginning with the Stamp It Group Christmas Blog Hop thru today’s card and I have made over 50 (I think it was like 52?) cards! Which isn’t too bad when you consider I only have one design (4 sheets) left of the Wrapped in Plaid DSP! I am going to make a few more cards with the last of the DSP, so I really accomplished my goal of no more paper hoarding, use it up and send it out!! Now, that DOES NOT mean I don’t have a ton of retired DSP, but I do use it up for other projects, like gift tags!
For this card, the base layer is Shaded Spruce cardstock, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”, and embossed with the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder:
The next layer is this design from the Wrapped in Plaid DSP, first cut 1” off one side, turn and cut at 3”, and then cut the 1” strip in half. This will give you two pieces at 3” x 5” and two pieces at ½” x 6”:
For the card front you will need:
1. 3” x 5” piece of DSP
2. Enough Gold Shimmer Ribbon to tie around the embossed base layer into a bow.
3. Use the Hand-Lettered Prose Dies to cut out “Ho!” three times from Gold Foil Sheets.
4. Use the puff paint along the top of the letters and exclamation point and set with your heat tool.
First tie the Gold Shimmer Ribbon around the middle of the embossed base layer cardstock and then adhere the DSP on top:
Use the Fine Tip Glue Pen to adhere the letters to the DSP layer. Tip-I first lined up and adhered the top letters, then the bottom letters, and then the middle letters. I find this way easiest. This completed piece is adhered to a Night of Navy cardstock card base, cut at 4 ¼” x 11”, and scored at 5 ½”:
For the inside, cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼”, stamp the sentiment in Night of Navy ink, and adhere the ½” DSP strip along the bottom, trimming off the extra:
BONUS CARD:
Since you can make two of the above cards from one sheet of DSP, I decided to make an alternative card for those of you that may not have the Hand-Lettered Prose Dies. I changed this up by stamping the sentiment from Itty Bitty Christmas on Whisper White cardstock in Night of Navy ink, punch out with the 1 3/8” Scallop Punch, punch out a piece of Gold Foil Sheet with the 1 ½” Circle Punch to layer underneath, added a few Gold Glitter Enamel Dots and the single snowflake is cut from Gold Foil Sheets with the Christmas Layers Dies. The inside of the card is the same, just changed up the sentiment:
Which of these two cards are your favorite? Or both? I know that die cutting letters can be a bit tedious, but the end result is so worth it! As I mentioned at the beginning of this post, I will make gift tags for myself and family members at Christmas. This is a great way to use up your paper and make room for more! What I like to do, is take a 12” x 12” sheet of DSP and cut it up into 2” x 6” strips, use different tag topper punches, the Banner Triple Punch, and then various other punches to create super cute tags! That is the key, using punches because it is so much easier to punch 12 of one thing instead running a die through your machine 12 times (you can make 12 tags from one sheet of DSP)!
