Hello and welcome to today’s card, which is a result of a “happy accident” while experimenting with the Tin Tile Dynamic TIEF, Shimmer Paint, and Stazon ink! I don’t know about you, but whenever I order a new embossing folder the first thing I do is emboss with it. I really like to see what the impression looks like on cardstock, so I will use either retired or current cardstock, just depends on what I’m experimenting with.
While I was putting all of my “goodies” away from my last order, I started researching on how to use the new Shimmer Paint from the Holiday Catalog and came up with an idea of sponging the paint directly on the embossed cardstock. I experimented with Gray Granite and Cherry Cobbler cardstock and used a Stampin’ Sponge with the Frosted White (leaves a pearlized finish) and Champagne Mist (leaves a light gold shimmer) Shimmer Paints on the embossed and debossed sides, which turned out nice, but then I thought about adding some ink to make it look a bit more tarnished. I wasn’t too sure about using Memento ink, so I used my Stazon ink pad and just dragged it gently across the paper and loved it!! I decided to use the embossed Cherry Cobbler cardstock with the Champagne Mist and Stazon to create today’s card!
For this card, start Crumb Cake cardstock for the card base, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½”, and scored at 4 ¼”:
The base layer is Cherry Cobbler cardstock, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”, embossed with the Tin Tile Dynamic TIEF, sponge Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint, and lightly drag your Stazon ink pad across the raised images:
The images from the Country Home stamp set are stamped in Memento ink on a piece of 2 ¾” x 4” Whisper White cardstock, colored in with Light and Dark Smoky Slate, Light and Dark Cherry Cobbler, Light and Dark Old Olive, Dark Crumb Cake, and Dark Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends. To give the watering cad and more “weathered” look, I used the Color Lifter to lighten it up a bit and the corners are rounded using the Detailed Trio Punch. I cut a strip of Country Lane DSP at ½” x 4”:
For some added element, I used one of the Galvanized Clips and tied a piece of Braided Linen Trim in a knot, fraying the ends and the sentiment from the stamp set is stamped in Cherry Cobbler ink:
The strip of DSP is adhered across the bottom of the embossed cardstock and then the stamped image is adhered on top with dimensionals:
The base layer is then adhered to the card base, make sure to use a strong adhesive when adhering embossed cardstock:
For the inside, cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock to 4” x 5 ¼” and then stamp the image in Cherry Cobbler ink across the bottom:
