Hello and welcome to today’s blog post, which kicks off my week of Let’s Go Fishing Suite Week! Whether you know someone who likes to go fishing, the great outdoors, or are just needing to add a fun suite to your stash, check out the Let’s Go Fishing Suite! Since I’m using this suite for my Father’s Day cards this year, I am going to dedicate this week to give you some inspiration. I find that dedicating a week of blog posts not only gives me the opportunity to share creativity to newly released products, but also gives me more of an opportunity to be creative having products on hand, rather than rotating around other stamp sets, bundles, or suites.
For my first card this week, I will share with you how I used one part of the 12” x 12” DSP to easily make three cards!
The base layer for the card front is a 4” x 5 ¼” piece of Boho Blue cardstock, lightly spritzed with water to emboss with the Twisted Rope 3D Embossing Folder, and use a sponge dauber with Blueberry Bushel ink around the edges:
For the rest of the card front, you will need:
1. Using this design from the Let’s Go Fishing DSP, cut at 4” x 12”. I used the largest banner Nested Essentials Dies to die-cut out of the buffalo check design and then used the second from the largest banner Nested Essentials Dies, which if you are very careful, you can get four die-cuts of each out, however, I was not and was only able to get three of the large die-cut out of the DSP, but was able to cut three ¾” x 4” strips for the inside of the card.
2. Use the long, two-piece lure die to die-cut from Smoky Slate cardstock. After adhering the small piece to the end, you will use your Wink of Stella pen over the entire die-cut cardstock.
3. Place some adhesive sheet on the back of Basic Black cardstock and use the fishing hooks die to die-cut out.
4. For the bobber, use the stick-type die to die-cut out of Crumb Cake cardstock, the bobber body out of Very Vanilla cardstock, and the small accent piece out of Poppy Parade cardstock. *Please excuse me if my descriptions are not exact, lol!
5. Use the small, detail lure to die-cut out of Boho Blue cardstock.
6. You will need about 7” of Very Vanilla Baker’s Twine.
7. Two 3mm and one 4mm Rustic Metallic Adhesive-Backed Dots, not pictured.
I first adhered the two banner die-cuts as shown, the longer Smoky Slate lure with Wink of Stella, and adhered the cardstock die-cuts of the bobber, wrapped the baker’s twine around the top three times, and used a small drop of liquid glue on the backside to wrap the baker’s twine around one more time, using kraft tweezers to secure in place while the glue dries. I adhered the embossed base layer cardstock to a Blueberry Bushel cardstock card base, cut at 4 ¼” x 11” and scored at 5 ½”, adhered the layered die-cut banners, used liquid glue to adhere the two lures, a mini dimensional to adhere the bobber, a drop of liquid glue to adhere the baker’s twine to the cardstock, removed the adhesive backing to the two hooks, and placed the three Rustic Adhesive-Backed Dots as shown:
For the inside, cut a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼”, stamp the sentiment in Blueberry Bushel ink, and adhere the ¾” x 4” strip of DSP along the bottom:
For the coordinating Very Vanilla Medium Envelope, stamp the fish in Blueberry Bushel ink, the second step stamp in Smoky Slate ink, and add detailed color to the fish with a Mossy Meadow Stampin’ Write Marker:
How cute and easy to make is this card?? Perfect not just for Father’s Day! Not only is this a great way to play with the Gone Fishing Dies, but also a great alternative way to use your DSP, but still leaving you with 2/3 of the sheet to use for other cards or crafts!!
