Hello and welcome to today’s blog post, which is my final post this week featuring the By the Bay Suite! Now, I kind of fibbed with this card and didn’t use the Seaside Bay Bundle, but instead used the Friends are Like Seashells Bundle! I am still going to show you how I used up the leftover strips of DSP from my previous post with the screen divider card, but I thought I would also show you how you can easily pair the Friends are Like Seashells stamp set and Seaside Seashells Dies with the By the Bay DSP! The layout for these two cards is the same, just changed the DSP and cardstock for these super cute cards!
You will have two 2” x 6” and two 1” x 4 ¼” pieces leftover from the previous screen divider card, which you will use one of each for two cards and can use any side of each:
I chose this design from the By the Bay DSP, which I cut a ¾” x 6” strip off the side and then cut the remaining 6” x 5 ¼” in half. I used one 3” x 5 ¼” piece for one card and the other 3” x 5 ¼” side design for the other card. The ¾” x 6” strip will be used for the inside of one card:
For both cards, I used the “squared” basic border die along the bottom edge of the 3” x 5 ¼” DSP, used my grid paper to line up the 3” x 5 ¼” with the 2” x 6” strip to make a 4” x 5 ¼” base layer for the card front, trimming off the excess from the 2” x 6” piece:
For the rest of the card front, you will need:
1. Use the second from the largest square Stylish Shapes Die to die-cut from Mint Macaron cardstock.
2. On Basic White cardstock, stamp the sentiment in Night of Navy ink, the seagrass in Soft Sea Foam ink, and use the third from the largest square Stylish Shapes Die to die-cut out. This will be layered on the above piece.
3. On Basic White cardstock, stamp the sand dollar and starfish in Soft Suede ink and the small shell in Crumb Cake ink, then use the coordinating dies to die-cut out. I then used a sponge dauber with Crumb Cake ink around the edges of the die-cuts to “distress” and tapped a little in the middle of each piece.
4. I used the large die from Seaside Seashells with scraps of Soft Sea Foam cardstock to make the seagrass. I also used some Mint Macaron cardstock for the alternative card.
5. I used the squared end of the Lovely Labels Pick a Punch to punch each end of the 1” x 4 ¼” strip of DSP.
6. You will also need one of each color Faux Sea Glass Shapes, not pictured.
To assemble the card front, I adhered the 1” strip to the DSP base layer, adhere the die-cut seagrass to the back of the layered sentiment, adhered this over the 1” strip of DSP, used dimensionals to adhere the die-cut seashells, placed the Faux Sea Glass Shapes as shown, and this piece is adhered to a Mint Macaron cardstock card base, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½” and scored at 4 ¼”:
For the inside, cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼”, stamp the sentiment in Night of Navy ink, and adhere the ¾” strip of DSP along the bottom, trimming off the excess:
For the coordinating Basic White Medium Envelope, stamp the starfish in Soft Suede ink and the seagrass in Soft Sea Foam ink:
For the alternative card, I used Night of Navy cardstock for the layering square and card base, use one piece of Mint Macaron and Soft Sea Foam cardstock for the seagrass, and since I didn’t have another ¾” strip for the inside, I stamped the seagrass in Soft Sea Foam ink and the seashell in Soft Suede ink:
How fun are these any occasions cards?? Not only is this a great way to give some love to a stamp set from the annual catalog, but you use up your leftover DSP from one card to create two unique cards! If you are one that doesn’t like to make multiples of the same card, then this is perfect for you! They may be the same layout, but they are different!!
