Hello and welcome to today’s blog post, which is another cute Halloween card featuring the Scary Cute Bundle! It’s just not Halloween without a spooky house, right? Even though the focal point of this card is the spooky house die-cut, there are lots of fun and easy elements to this card, including making your own “DSP” with stamps from Scary Cute and Alphabest! I easily created the background for the spooky house die-cut by using a sponge dauber with Daffodil Delight, Parakeet Party, and Gorgeous Grape inks. Normally if I wanted to use a bright green I would use Granny Apple Green, but I think Parakeet Party is perfect for Halloween! I also created a color coordinating ribbon by coloring the Metallic Edge Cotton Ribbon with a Stampin’ Blends, which worked out perfectly!
The base layer for the card front is Very Vanilla cardstock cut at 4” x 5 ¼”, the bats are stamped in Memento ink, the small “boo!” is stamped in Gorgeous Grape ink, and the large “boo!” is stamped in Parakeet Party ink using the Alphabest stamp set. Since there is only one of each letter with this stamp set, I first placed the b and the o on a clear block to stamp on the cardstock, then I removed the b and added the exclamation point stamp to stamp and completing the word:
For the rest of the card front, you will need:
1. I used the sun stamp from Paradise Palms in Smoky Slate ink, stamping off once before stamping on Very Vanilla cardstock, and using the coordinating die to die-cut out. I used a sponge dauber with Smoky Slate ink to sponge around the edge, sponge lightly in the middle to give a little bit more color, and then used my Wink of Stella on that darker middle spot.
2. Use the spooky house die to die-cut from Basic Black cardstock and use Wink of Stella over the whole die-cut.
3. Use the second from the largest square Stylish Shapes Die to die-cut from Very Vanilla cardstock, use sponge daubers with Daffodil Delight, Parakeet Party, and Gorgeous Grape ink to color as shown, and then use the stars stamp from Alphabest with White Craft ink to stamp across Gorgeous Grape.
4. Use the largest square Stylish Shapes Die to die-cut from Basic Gray cardstock, this will be layered under the above die-cut square.
5. Cut a 3 ¼” X 3 ¼” piece of the black typewriter design from the Vellum Layering Designs, this will be layered under the above die-cut squares.
6. Use a piece of the Metallic Edge Cotton Ribbon that is long enough to tie around the base layer into a knot and use a Dark Highland Heather Stampin’ Blends to color the ribbon.
7. You will need two small and one large of the lightest Parakeet Party Matte Decorative Dots, not pictured.
First adhere the square layers together, adhere the spooky house die-cut to the top layer, use a dimensional to adhere the die-cut moon, tie the ribbon around the base layer into a knot, use dimensionals to adhere the layered squares over the ribbon, and place the Parakeet Party matte dots as shown. This completed piece is adhered to a Basic Gray cardstock card base, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½” and scored at 4 ¼”:
For the inside, cut a 4” x 5 ¼” piece of Very Vanilla cardstock, ink the sentiment in Parakeet Party ink and use a Gorgeous Grape Stampin’ Write Marker to color over “boo”, stamp the moon in Smoky Slate ink (stamping off once first), and stamp the bats stamp in Memento ink:
For the coordinating Very Vanilla Medium Envelope, stamp the moon in Smoky Slate ink (stamping off once first) and stamp the bats stamp in Memento ink in the bottom left corner:
Isn’t this another super cute Halloween card?? So easy to CASE and you can change up the colors used for the background for the spooky house die-cut! I just love the added sparkle to the moon and the spooky house die-cut with Wink of Stella.
