Hello and welcome to today’s blog post, which is a bright and cheerful card featuring the Rays of Light Background Stamp and the Sending Smiles Bundle! Do you have a favorite background stamp, or do you tend to shy away from background stamps? Whether it’s a focal point or a unique background for your card front, background stamps are a great way to use a variety of techniques! I wasn’t quite sure about the Rays of Light Background stamp, so I decided to wait and see what sort of inspiration I would see with this stamp. Sometimes you can look at a stamp and see a few ideas, but I’m talking about inspiration “outside the box”! I do have a few ideas floating around, but for my first card with this stamp, I decided to keep it simple and see if I could do partial stamping with masking paper!
The base layer for the card front is Basic White cardstock cut at 4” x 5 ¼”and using my Stamparatus, I partially inked the Rays of Light stamp in Daffodil Delight ink and positioned the cardstock on my Stamparatus base, so the center was more towards the top:
For the rest of the cardfront, I used the cloud type die from Basic Boarders Dies to die cut from Basic White (3” x 4”), Balmy Blue (1 ½” x 4 ¼”), Pacific Point (1 ½” x 4 ¼”), and Starry Sky (3 ½” x 4 ¼”) cardstocks. Tip-so the cardstocks did not have the same die-cut patterns, I moved the die to different positions and with the width being wider than the base layer, this gives you a little bit more wiggle room when positioning/adhering. On Basic White cardstock, stamp the sentiment in Sweet Sorbet ink, use the small cluster of flowers stamp to stamp in Blushing Bride ink, stamping off once first, over the sentiment, stamp the flowers in Blushing Bride and Sweet Sorbet with the centers in Daffodil Delight ink, and then use the coordinating dies to die-cut out. I went back over the flower petals with a Wink of Stella Pen:
To assemble, I first adhered the Basic White cardstock layer to the stamped base layer with liquid glue and continued the process with the Balmy Blue, Pacific Point, and Starry Sky cardstocks, you will trim off the excess cardstocks from each side, adhere the die-cut sentiment with mini dimensionals, and use liquid glue to adhere the die-cut flowers as shown. This completed piece is adhered to a Thick Basic White cardstock card base, cut at 4 ¼” x 11” and scored at 5 ½”:
For the inside, cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 3 ¾” x 5”, the sentiment is inked using Daffodil Delight and Sweet Sorbet ink pads, and I used the largest Layering Circles Die to create a corner mask to partially stamp the background with Daffodil Delight ink in the corner. This will be layered on a 4” x 5 ¼” piece of Starry Sky cardstock:
For the coordinating Basic White Medium Envelope, I used the same corner mask to partially stamp the background stamp with Daffodil Delight ink in the corner:
A little stamping and die-cutting for a super cute all occasions card! For me, using my Stamparatus is a must for ease of stamping background stamps! This way, if you miss a spot or if you want to/need to stamp again, no worries with the Stamparatus!
