Hello and welcome to today’s blog post, which is a fun watercolor card with the Daisy Garden background stamp! Continuing with World Watercolor Month, I thought I would have a little fun with the Daisy Garden stamp set, ink, and Water Painters! When you have a big image stamp like Daisy Garden and daisies can be in a variety of colors, you can simply choose your favorite color ink pads and start water coloring! Do you have the Water Painters or are you still using the retired Aqua Painters? When the Water Painters came out, I did order them because the large flat brush was a must! However, I do struggle with squeezing the tube for the water, it’s either too much or not enough. To solve this, I do not put any water in the painter, but rather I have an old embossing powder container that I keep water in. I find this much easier to control how much or little water I need when water coloring! I am also able to control how much ink I want to use by tapping a clear block on the ink pad, picking up water with the Water Painter brush tip, and then mixing the water with the ink! If I need a little bit more ink, I pick up the ink with the brush tip and mix it with the water and if I want less ink, I just add a little bit of water and just keep mixing the water/ink mixture without adding more ink! You are the captain of this watercolor masterpiece!! Lol
The base layer for the card front is a piece of the metallic Rose Gold Specialty Paper, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”, and embossed with the Quatrefoil Tile Embossing Folder:
For the rest of the card front, you will need:
1. Cut a 4 ¼” x 5 ½” piece of Thick Very Vanilla cardstock, use your Stamparatus to stamp the Daisy Garden stamp in Smoky Slate ink. I used the fine tip brush to watercolor the daisies in Parakeet Party, Polished Pink, Fresh Freesia, and Pale Papaya inks. I used the third from the largest Deckled Rectangle Die to die-cut out the area the I liked best.
2. On Very Vanilla cardstock, stamp the sentiment from Charming Sentiments in Polished Pink ink and die-cut out with the third from the smallest circle Stylish Shapes Die.
3. Use the smaller long banner die to die-cut from Polished Pink cardstock.
4. You will need three of the 5mm Champagne Rhinestone Basic Jewels, not pictured.
I first adhered the embossed Rose Gold foil base layer to a Smoky Slate cardstock card base, cut at 4 ¼” x 11” and scored at 5 ½”, adhered the deckled die-cut cardstock to the foil base layer as shown, adhered the Polished Pink die-cut banner behind the die-cut circle sentiment, and used dimensionals to adhere along the bottom of the deckled die-cut cardstock layer. I then placed the three 5mm Champagne Rhinestone Basic Jewels as shown:
For the inside, cut a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼”, stamp the sentiment from Charming Sentiments in Polished Pink ink, and stamp the top of the Daisy Garden stamp along the bottom in Smoky Slate ink:
For the coordinating Very Vanilla Medium Envelope, just ink the right side of the Daisy Garden stamp and then stamp in the bottom left corner of the envelope:
This is a great any occasion card! If you are not quite into water coloring, this is a great way to use what you already have, clear blocks, ink pads, and water painters! Does practice make perfect? I don’t know about that, but the more you do something, like water coloring, the easier it becomes and your skills can improve!
