Hello and welcome to today’s blog post, which is an adorable card featuring the Blessings of Home Bundle and the Heart & Home 12” x 12” Designer Series Paper! I thought I would create something a little different by heat embossing the large flower stamp from the Blessings of Home stamp set on Vellum cardstock, use Stampin’ Blends to give the embossed image a light coloring, and use an irregular die-cut dry embossed piece of cardstock to not only show the light coloring, but to allow the heat embossed vellum to stand out against the busy design of the Heart & Home DSP. Sometimes when you have a busy DSP design the easiest thing to do is use a sentiment, so I wanted to experiment and see if I could try something a little different and if it would work out!
The base layer for the card front is this design from the Heart & Home DSP, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”. You will also need a ¾” x 4” strip for the inside:
For the rest of the card front, you will need:
1. On Vellum cardstock, stamp the large flower stamp from Blessings of Home in Versamark ink and heat emboss with Silver Embossing Powder. This will then be die-cut out of the Vellum cardstock with the coordinating Flowers of Home die. I used Dark Petal Pink and Light Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Blends to color the flowers and leaves on the backside of the vellum, coloring the flowers about three times for the color to be a little darker.
2. From Basic White cardstock, use the third from the largest Layering Diorama die to die-cut out and then emboss with the Hive 3D Embossing Folder.
3. You will need 12” of Petal Pink ribbon from the Cotton Ribbon Combo Pack.
4. You will need three 4mm and three 5mm Calypso Coral Polished Dots, not pictured.
I first used a small amount of adhesive in the middle of the DSP base layer to adhere the cotton ribbon as shown, adhered the embossed and die-cut Basic White cardstock piece over the ribbon, placed some adhesive on the backside of the vellum on each end, using the smaller flowers to hide the adhesive, place the three 4mm Polished Dots in the upper left corner and the 5mm Polished Dots in the bottom right corner, and then adhere this completed piece to a Gray Granite cardstock card base, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½” and scored at 4 ¼”:
For the inside, cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼”, stamp the sentiment in Night of Navy ink, and adhere the ¾” x 4” strip of DSP as shown:
For the coordinating Basic White Medium Envelope, I used the new Quatrefoil Tile Embossing Folder to emboss the envelope flap:
Such a sweet card that is easy to make! I really like using the Hive 3D EF on the Basic White cardstock to give the die-cut layer a contrasting image between the vellum cardstock and the DSP base layer. I did think about using the Quatrefoil Tile EF since it is similar in design, but I thought that would be too much of the same design for the card front and opted instead to emboss the envelope flap! Don’t forget, the DSP, Cotton Ribbon, and Polished Dots will be retiring on June 30th when the Jan-June Mini Catalog retires!
