Hello and welcome to today’s blog post, which is a book fold fun fold card featuring the Textured Chic 12” x 12” Specialty DSP, the Charming Sentiments Bundle, and the Forever Fern Bundle! Since I have the Textured Chic DSP out, I figured I would share with you so alternative ideas with this wonderful designer series paper! I don’t know if it’s the colors from the design I used, but for whatever reason this made me think of the Forever Fern stamp set and coordinating Forever Flourishing Dies! So, why not combine this favorite carryover bundle with some new products from the annual catalog for a completely new look?
The base layer for the card front is this design from the Texture Chic DSP, one piece cut at 4” x 4” and the other piece cut at 1” x 4”, using the opposite side design for the 1” x 4” strip:
For the rest of the card front, you will need:
1. Enough of the Soft Succulent Open Weave Ribbon to tie into a knot.
2. The sentiment from Charming Sentiments is stamped on Basic White cardstock in Evening Evergreen ink and the coordinating die is used to die-cut out.
3. Use the large leaf die from Forever Flourishing to die-cut out of Evening Evergreen cardstock.
4. On Soft Succulent cardstock, stamp both small leaf stamps in Soft Succulent ink and use the coordinating dies to die-cut out.
5. Use the curved leaf die to die-cut out of the Distressed Gold Specialty Paper.
6. Cut a ½” x 4” piece of Pale Papaya cardstock and use the Stripes Embossing Folder to dry emboss.
The base for the book fold card is Evening Evergreen cardstock, cut at 4 ¼” x 11” and scored at 4 ¼” and at 5 ½”, and adhere the 1 ¼” scored part to the back of the card base. I adhered the 4” x 4” piece of DSP to the open fold, the 1” x 4” to the adhered part of the card front, and then tied the Soft Succulent Open Weave ribbon into a knot. For the large die-cut leaf, I used liquid glue at the stem and surrounding bottom leaves to adhere to the DSP base layer, dimensionals to adhere the embossed ½” strip of Pale Papaya across the bottom of the die-cut leaf, adhered the curved die-cut leaves to the ½” strip, adhered the die-cut sentiment over the die-cut curved leaves, and then adhered the two stamped die-cut leaves (one on each side) behind the sentiment, but on top of the large die-cut leaf:
For the inside, cut a 4” x 4” piece of Basic White cardstock, stamp the sentiment in Evening Evergreen ink and the two small leaves stamps in Soft Succulent ink in the opposite corners as shown:
For the coordinating Basic White Medium Envelope, I used the large branch stamp in Evening Evergreen ink to stamp in the bottom corner as shown:
Such an elegant card for sending encouragement! Did you see the Distressed Gold Specialty Paper?? This is a thin paper, not delicate necessarily, but thinner than regular foil paper, which is very easy to cut and to use for die cutting. What this paper really reminds me of, is about 20+ years ago all the rage was to paint your walls and then sponge paint on top of that to give your wall(s) a faux textured look, but this looks better and there is a slight texture to the paper. Whether it’s a focal point or a small pop of texture, this is another great specialty designer series paper that you will love!
