Hello and welcome to today’s blog post, which is a fun tropical themed card featuring the Oceanfront stamp set and the Paradise Palms Bundle! If you have both the stamp set and bundle, it is so easy to combine them together and make a super fun card! I really wanted to give the sky and ocean stamps a bit of a different look, so I went “old school” and used Stampin’ Write Markers to color the stamps and then spritz with water to soften the stamped image to give it more of a “watercolor wash” look! When I first started crafting and card making, I chose to start off with markers versus stamp pads because I didn’t have a lot of room for my supplies, and I wasn’t sure where to start with what color of stamp pads I would really use. This was way, way back in the day when you could purchase markers individually, which I so wish they would bring back! However, starting off with markers is still a great way to get the benefit of having all the color families as you see which colors you would utilize more in a stamp pad.
The base layer for the card front is Sahara Sand cardstock, cut at 3 ¼” x 5”, and I used the crisscross Split Card Textures Die to partially die-cut the cardstock:
For the rest of the card front, you will need:
1. For the scenery that is stamped on Basic White cardstock, I used Crushed Curry, Mango Melody, Pumpkin Pie, and Calypso Coral Stampin’ Write Markers for the sky, spritzed with water, and stamped on the cardstock. For the ocean, I used Balmy Blue and Tahitian Tide Stampin’ Write Markers, spritzed with water, and stamped on the cardstock. The beach is inked in Sahara Sand ink, spritzed with water, and stamped on the cardstock, the speckled stamp is stamped in Crumb Cake ink, and the beach grass is stamped in Early Espresso ink. While it’s a little hard to see in the picture, I used Wink of Stella on the ocean waves and then this piece is die-cut out using the fourth largest Deckled Rectangles Dies.
2. For the triple palm trees, I used Soft Suede and Mossy Meadow Stampin’ Write Markers to color, stamped on Basic White cardstock, and used the coordinating die to die-cut out.
3. The large frond is die-cut out of Mossy Meadow cardstock and then I went over it with my Wink of Stella Pen.
4. You will also need one each of the Pebble Enamel Shapes, not pictured.
On an Early Espresso cardstock card base, cut at 4 ¼” x 11” and scored at 5 ½”, I used liquid glue to adhere the die-cut base layer to the card base slightly askew, adhered the die-cut frond to the back of the scenery layer, used dimensionals to adhere the scenery layer slightly askew in the opposite direction over the die-cut base layer, adhered part of the die-cut palm trees to the scenery, and then placed the Pebbled Enamel Shapes as shown:
For the inside, cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼”, I used an Early Expresso and Mango Melody Stampin’ Write Markers on the sentiment, colored the palm trees with Soft Suede and Mossy Meadow Stampin’ Write Markers to stamp in the lower corner, and used Crushed Curry with Pumpkin Pie Stampin’ Write Markers to color the sun, the Pumpkin Pie is just around the edge:
For the coordinating Basic White Medium Envelope, I inked and stamped the palm trees and the sun, the same way as the inside of the card, in the bottom corner of the card:
