Hello and welcome to today’s blog post, which is a fun and easy card featuring the Paradise Palms Bundle and the Expressions in Ink Designer Series Paper! The count down to the end of the 2021-2022 Annual Catalog is now down to the final week and while I am feverishly trying to use up what I can between now and May 3rd, when the 2022-2023 Annual Catalog goes live. Who am kidding? I’m going to have lots of retired products, but I know me and once the new annual catalog goes live, I’m not going to even THINK about any retired products! But for now, I’m trying to have a little fun and give you inspiration. Until recently, I’ve largely ignored the Expressions in Ink DSP, which is sad because this DSP is so beautiful and versatile!
The card front base layer is this design from the Expressions in Ink DSP, which I cut the 12” x 12” sheet into six 4” x 5 ¼” base layers and six ¾” x 4” strips for the inside of the card:
For the rest of the card front, you will need:
1. Using the second largest layering sentiment die from the Stitched So Sweetly Dies to die-cut from the Soft Succulent shimmer vellum.
2. Using the third largest layering sentiment die from the Stitched So Sweetly Dies to die-cut from Basic White cardstock, use your Stamparatus to stamp the sentiment in Versamark ink, and heat emboss with Gold Embossing Powder. If you are only making one card, you can make the sentiment first and then die-cut out, however, since I made six of these cards, I find it easier to die-cut first and then use my Stamparatus for the sentiment. This piece will be layered on the above piece.
3. Use the grass die to die-cut from Evening Evergreen cardstock.
4. The large palm tree is die-cut out of the Brushed Gold Metallic cardstock.
5. You will need two large and one small Brushed Gold Metallic Dots, not pictured.
I used a glue dot to adhere the top of the die-cut palm tree to the DSP base layer, liquid glue to adhere the die-cut grass, dimensionals to adhere the layered die-cut sentiment piece, and place the three metallic dots in the palm tree as shown. This completed piece is adhered to a Mint Macaron cardstock card base, cut at 4 ¼” x 11” and scored at 5 ½”:
For the inside, use a piece of 4” x 5 ¼” Basic White cardstock, heat emboss the sentiment with Gold Embossing Powder, and adhere the ¾” x 4” strip of DSP along the bottom:
For the coordinating Basic White envelope, I used a Crumb Cake and Evening Evergreen Stampin’ Write Markers to color the palm tree stamp and “huffed” on the stamp before stamping on the envelope. (In case you didn’t know, huffing on the stamp moistens the ink):
How easy was this card to make? You can use any of the sentiments from the Paradise Palms stamp set, which all fit in the die that I used for the sentiment, so you can have a variety of cards ready for use! This would also make a great “masculine” themed card if you are looking for birthday or Father’s Day cards.
