Halloween Blog Hop – September 2021

Hello and welcome to the Stamp It Group’s Halloween Blog Hop! My name is Christina Miller and you are visiting my blog, Christina’s Creative Corner. Whether this is your first stop on the blog hop tour or you have hopped on over from another blog, thank you for letting me share my card creation with you today!

First let me say, “I’m baaaack!” lol I (unexpectedly) took the last several weeks off, nothing serious, we adopted a puppy, went on a family vacation, and basically got out of my “crafting groove”, which I will share more on my next blog post. So, there is no better time than to jump back in than with our group’s blog hop, especially when it’s Halloween! The card I’m sharing with you today feature’s the Frightfully Cute Bundle, which is so easy to make!

To start, the base layer is a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”. I first stamped the moon stamp in Bumblebee ink and used a Blending Brush with So Saffron ink all around the moon. To create the layered background “sky”, use Blending Brushes with Fresh Freesia (the bottom 1/3), Highland Heather (the middle 1/3), and Blackberry Bliss (the top 1/3) inks, and I “flicked” the brush tip of my Wink of Stella pen to add some glimmer:

For the card front, you will need:

1. Place some adhesive sheet on the back of a piece of Basic Black cardstock and die cut out one tree and two fences from the Frightful Tag Dies and then use Wink of Stella on each piece.

2. Cut a piece of Basic Black cardstock at 1 ½” x 5 ½”, tear the cardstock down the middle (make it look like a ground piece), and use Wink of Stella along the torn edge.

3. For the tombstones, cut a ¾” strip of Smoky Slate cardstock, use the squared side of the Lovely Labels Pick a Punch, and cut each one a different length after punching the end, I cut at 1”, 7/8”, and ¾”. Use a Basic Black Stampin’ Write to write on the tombstones, a sponge dauber with Basic Gray ink along the sides, and Wink of Stella along the top.

4. You will need three of each 5mm and 7mm Cute Stars Adhesive Backed Sequins in Highland Heather, not shown.

I used liquid glue to adhere the torn Basic Black cardstock along the bottom, trimming off the excess, and removed the adhesive backing from the die-cut tree and fences to adhere to the base layer. To stamp the witch, I used my Stamparatus with Memento ink, to stamp three times to get a nice and dark stamped image. I used dimensionals to adhere the tombstones and placed the adhesive backed stars as shown. This completed piece is adhered to a Basic Black cardstock, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½”, and scored at 4 ¼”:

For the inside, cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼”, stamp the sentiment in Blackberry Bliss ink and the bat and spiders in Memento ink: Such a fun and easy Halloween card to make! You can even add a little humor to the tombstones by using creative names like: U. Bedder Hyde, Izzy Gone, Game Over, etc..

I am an Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrator located in Norfolk, Virginia and was first introduced to Stampin' Up! in 2004 when I attended my very first card class with my Mother-in-Law and I was immediately hooked! I first started out by making simple holiday cards and over the years as my stash has grown, so have my card and craft making skills. It has always warmed my heart when family and friends love my cards, but they actually keep them! In 2016 I decided to become a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator and figured I could just do it for a hobby, but now I am going to branch out for all to world to see. So grab your favorite beverage, sit in your favorite chair, and join me as I share my cards and crafts with you! Enjoy!
