Timeless Tropical Expressions

Hello and welcome to today’s blog post, which features the beautiful Expressions in Ink Specialty Designer Series Paper and the 2021-2023 In Color Shimmer Vellum! By now, I’m sure you’ve seen plenty of inspiration with the stunning Expressions in Ink DSP and this was at the top of my list for the 2021-2022 Annual Catalog, I’m just now sitting down to play with it! I know, I’ve had it for a couple of months…lol! But what better way to show off this DSP than combine it with the new 2021-2023 In Color Shimmer Vellum and the Timeless Tropical stamp set and coordinating In the Tropics Dies!

The base layer is this design from the Expressions in Ink DSP, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”:

For the card front, you will need:

1. Cut a 1” x 4” piece of Polished Pink cardstock, use the rounded end side of the Lovely Labels Pick a Punch on each end, and then emboss with the Painted Texture 3D.

2. Place some adhesive sheet on the back of a piece of Gold Foil Sheet and die-cut out with the “aloha” die from In the Tropics.

3. From the Soft Succulent Shimmer Vellum, use the three leaves and pineapple top die from In the Tropics to die-cut out.

4. Use the triple flower die from In the Tropics to die-cut out of Fresh Freesia and Polished Pink Shimmer Vellum. I used the 3mm Pale Papaya jewels for the middle of each flower.

To assemble the layered sentiment piece, I used glue dots to adhere the die-cut vellum leaves and flowers on each end as shown, and removed the adhesive backing from the gold foil die-cut to adhere in the middle:

I used glue dots to adhere the vellum die-cut pineapple top to the base layer DSP and dimensionals to adhere the layered sentiment piece as shown. This completed piece is adhered to a Thick Basic White cardstock card base, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½”, and scored at 4 ¼”:

For the inside, cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼”, adhere a ¾” x 4” strip of the DSP to the left side, and stamp the sentiment in Polished Pink ink:

Which is your favorite, the Expressions in Ink DSP or the shimmer vellum or both?? I really like both of them and pictures do not do either of these papers justice! The Expressions in Ink DSP really is a versatile paper that you can use with any of your favorite stamp sets, just like I did with the Timeless Tropical, giving them a fresh new look!

It has always warmed my heart when family and friends love my cards, but they actually keep them! In 2016 I decided to become a Stampin' Up!
