Summer/Patriotic Blog Hop – June 2021

Hello and welcome to the Stamp It Group’s Summer Lovin’ Blog Hop! My name is Christina Miller and you are visiting my blog, Christina’s Creative Corner. Have you checked out the new super-cool kits Stampin’ Up has to offer? You have your choice of two different kinds of kits, card or crafting! Now, if these look familiar, they are previous Paper Pumpkin Kits, but, if you are new to Stampin’ Up! or missed out on these adorable PPK, you are in luck! So, I thought I would show you an alternative card with one of these available kits, A Little Smile. While I always love the kits themselves, it’s always fun to see alternative inspiration!

The base layer is this design from the In Good Taste DSP, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”. I distressed each side of the DSP with my snips and then dragged each side through my Pool Party and Gray Granite ink pads. As you can see, I even let the face of the DSP touch the ink pad for that added distress look:

For the rest of the card front, you will need:

1. I took apart one of the envelopes from the kit and used the second largest rounded Tailor Made Tag to die-cut out and also dragged the edges of the die-cut through the Pool Party ad Gray Granite ink pads.

2. The reinforcer for the tag is die-cut out of Pool Party cardstock.

3. From the kit you will need one of the laser-cut vellum circles, two of the laser-cut palm trees, two of the laser-cut leaves, and one each of the laser-cut glimmer starfish and sand dollar.

4. Using one of the laser-cut labels for the sentiment, I used my Stamparatus to stamp the sentiment twice in Pool Party ink (this makes it nice and a little darker as PP ink can be a little light), and inked the edges in Pool Party and Gray Granite inks.

5. Cut a piece of Pool Party ribbon long enough to tie around the ribbon whole for the die-cut tag.

6. I used some of the Gray Granit Baker’s Twin from the Baker’s Twine Essentials Pack to make a loop-braid, which looks like a rope.

For the tag, you will glue the reinforcer to the die-cut tag, loop the ribbon through to tie, and snip off the excess ends. The laser-cut circle is placed in the middle of the die-cut tag, the laser-cut palm trees are glued over the circle, and the sand dollar and starfish are glued along the bottom as shown:

I used a small drop of liquid glue to adhere the baker’s twine (one on each side of where the dimensional is placed) to the DSP base layer and place a dimensional in between. The laser-cut leaves are adhered to the back of the sentiment with glue dots and place a dimensional on each end to adhere over the baker’s twine. The die-cut tag is adhered to the DSP base layer as shown and then this completed piece is adhered to a Pool Party cardstock card base, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½”, and scored at 4 ½”:

For the inside, cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 4” x 5”, use your Stamparatus to stamp the sentiment twice in Pool Party ink, cut a ¾” x 4” piece of DSP, distress and ink the same way as the card front, adhere along the bottom, and use glue dots to adhere two of the laser-cut vellum corals and one of the laser-cut sand dollars as shown:
