Garden Wishes Bundle and the Dandy Garden Designer Series Paper – P3

Hello and welcome to today’s blog post, which wrap’s up my week of the Garden Wishes Bundle and the Dandy Garden 6” x 6” DSP! When it comes to any 6” x 6” DSP, you can have left over pieces, even if you like what I call the “basic cut”, which gives you three pieces each measuring 4” x 5 ¼”, 2” x 5 ¼”, and ¾” x 6”. Of course, the 4” x 5 ¼” is your base layer for the card front and I always like to use the ¾” x 6” piece for the inside, but what about that 2” x 5 ¼” piece of DSP? While I do like to use this to adhere to the envelope flap, because I have a retired die that I can use for this, but what if you don’t? So, thought I would show you an easy way to use up these pieces of DSP, no matter the design!

The base layer is Basic White cardstock, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”, and embossed with the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder:

I chose six different designs from the Dandy Garden DSP and cut them into either ¾” x 5 ¼” or ½” x 5 ¼” strips. For this card, I alternated the sizes by starting with ¾”, then ½”, then ¾”, etc. and used the flag end of the Banners Pick a Punch on just one end. After this, I then cut each piece length down, starting with the top at 5”, next piece at 4 ½”, next piece at 4”, and so on, basically cutting each piece a ½” shorter than the previous:

For the rest of the card front, you will need:

1. From Mossy Meadow cardstock, use the dandelion die and both leaf dies to die-cut out one of each.

2. From Blackberry Bliss cardstock, use the largest layering dandelion die to die-cut out.

3. From Calypso Coral cardstock, use the medium layering dandelion die to die-cut out.

4. From Bumblebee cardstock, use the small layering dandelion die to die-cut out and use a 5mm Gold Glitter Enamel Dot to place in the middle.

5. On Basic White cardstock, stamp the sentiment from Garden Wishes in Memento ink and die-cut out with the smallest sentiment die from the Stitched So Sweetly Dies.

6. From Basic Black cardstock, use the second smallest sentiment die from the Stitched So Sweetly Dies, this will be layered under the above die-cut sentiment.

7. One of the Ladybug Trinkets.

I used liquid glue to adhere each of the layers for both of these pieces:

For the base layer, I first started with the top and bottom strips of DSP, using liquid glue to adhere each and lining up with the corner and edge of the embossed cardstock:

I then took the next two pieces (one for the top and one for the bottom) and used liquid glue to adhere them to the embossed cardstock, just leaving a little bit of space between the strips:

The last two strips of DSP are adhered with liquid glue and a little bit of space between them:

The layered dandelion and leaves are adhered as shown, trimming off the excess stem, up to where the leaves meet, and also trimming off the little end piece from the leaf on the left that is sticking out:

I used dimensionals to adhere the sentiment in the lower corner, a glue dot to adhere the Ladybug Trinket as shown, and this completed piece is adhered to a Basic Black cardstock, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½”, and scored at 4 ¼”:

For the inside, cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼”, stamp the sentiment from Garden Wishes in Memento ink, and adhere a ¾” x 5 ¼” strip of Dandy Garden DSP along the bottom:

Wasn’t this an easy card to make and use up your DSP?? Now, did you notice the color scheme for what DSP designs I used? I started with Misty Moonlight and then each strip after that tied into one of the colors from the previous strip! Having solid color designs also helped deciding which designs to use!
