Hello and welcome to today’s blog post, which shows you three different ways to “step your card up” by starting off with some simple stamping! Whether you are new to card making or have been making cards for a while, it’s always nice to see how simple a card starts! I chose to use the Snowflake Splendor stamp set for this card because not only do you have so many snowflake stamps to use for whatever design you want to make, but you have several sentiments to choose from as well!
For the base layer, cut a piece of Shimmery White cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼”. The large snowflake I used is stamped in Highland Heather ink and then then I chose a smaller snowflake stamp to layer with the Highland Heather snowflake, which is stamped in Balmy Blue ink. To fill in the background around the stamped snowflakes, I used the small curvy snowflake stamp in Pool Party ink, which I really liked because you can flip the stamp around to fill in the background:
To keep card #1 simple, the sentiment is stamped in Highland Heather ink on a 1” x 3 ½” of Shimmery White cardstock, a 1 ¼” x 3 ¾” piece of Purple Posy cardstock is layered underneath. The layered sentiment is adhered to the base layer with dimensionals and this completed piece is adhered to a Purple Posy cardstock card base, cut at 4 ¼” x 11”, and scored at 5 ½”:
For card #2, you will do everything the same as above, but you will add some Adhesive-Backed Snowflakes around the sentiment and on the stamped base layer and use enough Linen Thread to tie around the end of the layered sentiment piece three times and tie into a knot:
For card #3, the base layer will be the same, but you will also need:
1. I used the medium detailed snowflake die to die-cut three from a piece of Silver Foil Sheet, placing adhesive sheet on the back of the foil sheet before die-cutting.
2. Cut a 1” x 3 ¾” piece of Shimmery White cardstock, stamp the sentiment in Highland Heather ink, use the cluster of three snowflakes stamp, stamping off first in Highland Heather ink, for the background, and use the Banners Pick a Punch on the ends. Note-the cardstock is slightly longer to allow for the punch on each end.
3. The 1 ¼” x 3 ¾” piece of Purple Posy cardstock is embossed with the Winter Snow EF, I used the debossed side.
4. Enough of the Linen Thread to wrap around the embossed Purple Posy cardstock three times, adhering the ends to the back.
5. As many of the Adhesive-Baked Snowflakes as you want to use.
I first adhered the die-cut foil snowflakes to the stamped base layer, used mini dimensionals to adhere the sentiment to the embossed layer with the linen thread underneath (across the middle), adhered the completed sentiment with dimensionals, and placed the adhesive-backed snowflakes on the sentiment piece and stamped base layer as shown:
For the inside of all the cards, cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼”, stamp the sentiment in Highland Heather ink, and use the cluster of three snowflakes stamp in Highland Heather ink, stamping off first:
Don’t you love how starting off with #simplestamping you can easily take your cards up a step with just a little bit of embellishment, embossing, and die-cutting? You can do this with almost any of your favorite stamp sets and any color!!
