Sending you smiles!

Hello and welcome to today’s card, which is a fun card featuring the Lovely You Bundle, Forever Greenery DSP, and the Forever Gold Laser-cut specialty Paper! I purchased the new Water Painters last month after the new annual catalog went live, but I have yet to play with them! If you’ve noticed, they are completely different from the previous aqua painters as there are three different sized brushes and I was excited for the fine tip and the large flat tip sizes! I really wanted to experiment with the large flat tip painter to see what works best for using ink (ink pad vs. ink refill) and for coloring large areas, especially background pieces like I made for the gold laser-cut paper.

The base layer is this design from the Forever Greenery DSP, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”:

For the background for the gold laser-cut paper, cut a piece of Fluid 100 paper at 3 ¼” x 4 ¾”. I spritzed the paper lightly with water and used the flat tip painter to “pick up” ink directly from the Soft Sea Foam and Just Jade ink pads to paint as shown. I then used the fine tip pen to “pick up” ink directly from the Pretty Peacock ink pad and tapping the end to get the splatter effect. Be sure to protect your work area because tapping the end with the ink can get a little messy:

Additionally, for the card front you will also need:

1. This design from the Forever Gold Laser-cut specialty paper.

2. Cut a piece of Soft Sea Foam cardstock at ¾” x 2 ½”, stamp the sentiment in Pretty Peacock ink, and punch each end with the squared side of the Lovely Labels Pick a Punch.

3. Cut a piece of Just Jade cardstock at 1” x 3” and use the rounded side of the Lovely Labels Pick a Punch on each end. This will be layered under the sentiment.

4. You will need two of the 4mm (small) Gilded Gems, not pictured.

I used the piercing tip of my Take Your Pick tool to “roll” a glue dot and place one at each corner and the middle of the sides of the gold laser-cut paper to adhere to the watercolor paper. After adhering, I had a little bit of the watercolor paper sticking out, so I used my snips to trim that off:

I adhered the gold and watercolor paper piece to the middle of the DSP base layer, the sentiment in the middle with dimensionals and then placed the two Gilded Gems as shown:

For the inside, cut a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼”, stamp the sentiment in Pretty Peacock ink, the leaf stamp in Soft Sea Foam, and adhere a ¾” x 4” strip of the same DSP along the bottom:

Isn’t this a super cute and fun card?? My take from the new Water Painters is pretty good! For the flat tip, make sure that you spritz the paper first with water and picking up the ink directly from the ink pad worked better than a drop or two of ink refill on a clear block, I also suggest that you squeeze the tube with water to make sure the tip is saturated, that makes it easier to glide the ink on the watercolor paper.

I am an Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrator located in Norfolk, Virginia and was first introduced to Stampin' Up! in 2004 when I attended my very first card class with my Mother-in-Law and I was immediately hooked! I first started out by making simple holiday cards and over the years as my stash has grown, so have my card and craft making skills. It has always warmed my heart when family and friends love my cards, but they actually keep them! In 2016 I decided to become a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator and figured I could just do it for a hobby, but now I am going to branch out for all to world to see. So grab your favorite beverage, sit in your favorite chair, and join me as I share my cards and crafts with you! Enjoy!
