Hello and welcome to today’s card, which is a super cute Easter card made with products from the Perennial Essence Suite and the Tropical Oasis Suite! I needed to make a few more Easter cards to send out and to create something different. I wanted to make a cute little bunny card, so I set out to figure out how in the world I was going to create one when I do not have any bunny stamps or punches. I’ve seen some super cute cards that used both Daisy Punches for the ears, but that’s not what I was quite looking for. After looking at my punches, I thought the Perennial Flower Punch would be perfect, but how do I create the inside of the ears? Would you believe the Leaf Punch worked perfectly?? After some “experimenting” with what I wanted for the card front, I decided to go with the “ears” peeking out of grass. Buuuuttttt, I don’t have a current die or punch to create the grass, so now what? (I could always use something retired, but that wouldn’t be fair if you don’t have it) Would you believe I used the crown (or top) die for the pineapple from the In the Tropics Dies!! So, once I figured this all out, the rest of the card just came all together!
The base layer is Crumb Cake cardstock, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”. I used my Soft Suede ink pad to ink the Coastal Weave 3D Embossing Folder, spritz the cardstock with water, and embossed:
For the card front, you will need:
1. A 4 ½” strip of the Very Vanilla Scalloped Lace Trim.
2. A 2 ¼” x 4” piece of this design from the Perennials Essence DSP.
3. Using Whisper White cardstock, use the top leaf from the Perennial Flower Punch to punch out four “bunny ears”.
4. Using Petal Pink cardstock, use the top leaf from the Leaf Punch to punch out four pieces that will be used for the inside of the bunny ears. I used my snips to trim off any excess and to round the cardstock and used my Wink of Stella pen. These are adhered to the Whisper White cardstock pieces with liquid glue.
5. The bottom sentiment from Timeless Tulips is masked to heat emboss the top sentiment in Gold Emboss Powder on So Saffron cardstock. This is then cut out with the smallest rectangle Stitched Rectangle Die.
6. For the grass, I used the crown (or top) die for the pineapple from In the Tropics. I created to smaller pieces in Pear Pizzazz cardstock and the larger piece in Old Olive cardstock. Tip-line the die up with the straight edge of the cardstock, this will make positioning the “grass” easier and not waste any cardstock, if you were to cut the whole piece out of cardstock and then cut down. Also, these dies emboss and cut, so spritz the cardstock with water so the embossed parts show better.
To have the bunny ears poking out from behind the grass, I placed the ears on my grid paper, laid the grass on top to the position I wanted, and then placed a little bit of liquid glue on the back of the grass piece to adhere the ears:
Adhere the DSP layer to the embossed base layer and the larger piece of Old Olive grass in the middle of the DSP with liquid glue:
The two smaller pieces of Pear Pizzazz grass with the bunny ears are adhered with liquid glue, the scalloped lace trim is adhered under the DSP piece (ends adhered behind the embossed base layer), and then the sentiment is adhered over the scalloped lace trim with Mini Dimensionals:
This completed piece is adhered to a So Saffron cardstock card base, cut at 4 ¼” x 11”, and scored at 5 ½”:
For the inside, I masked the top of the sentiment so I could heat emboss the bottom sentiment in Gold Emboss Powder and adhered a ¾” x 4” piece of coordinating DSP along the bottom:
