Hello and welcome to today’s card, which is an easy card to create featuring the Flowering Foil Specialty Designer Series Paper that has been colored to coordinate with Stampin’ Up cardstock with Stampin’ Blends! The motivation behind this card, is that now we are all staying home a lot more (aka social distancing) and maybe you are spending more time making cards and catching up doing all the little things that maybe would normally get pushed aside for lack of time. There are many ways that we can keep in touch with family and friends, thanks to technology, but what about sending a card to let them know that you are thinking about them? What better way to lift someone’s spirits than to send a pretty card? Not only is this a great way for you to do something that you love (creating cards), but to brighten someone’s day by receiving pretty mail!
What I first started out with is the small flower design from the Flowering Foils DSP and cut it down into three 4” x 12” strips. I decided that I wanted to color in the DSP with light colors from my Stampin’ Blends and chose Dark Petal Pink, Light Purple Posy, and Light Mint Macaron. I proceeded to color in the DSP around the flowers with the brush tip of each Stampin’ Blends pen, which took about 1 ½ hours:
I then cut each 4” x 12” piece, along the 12” side, at 5 ¼” and this will give you six base layers for six cards. Since that left me with a 1 ½” x 4” strip, I cut that in half, along the 1 ½” side, at ¾”. This small strip will be used for the inside of the card:
For the front of the card, you will need:
1. Enough Whisper White Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon long enough to go across the middle of the DSP. Since you can have your base layer DSP go vertically (4” x 5 ¼”) or horizontally (5 ¼” x 4”), make sure which way you want to layer onto your card base. I did a mix and match, four are horizontal and two are vertical.
2. Use the swirly circle die from the Painted Labels Dies to cut out of Whisper White cardstock. I used the sentiment from the Abstract Impression stamp set and heat embossed with Copper Embossing Powder.
I used my grid sheet to help position the ribbon in the middle of the DSP base layer, placed a small amount of adhesive in the middle of the ribbon to keep it in place, and then adhered the ribbon ends to the back of the DSP. The sentiment is adhered with dimensionals to the side, over the ribbon:
This base layer is adhered to a Purple Posy cardstock card base, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½”, and scored at 4 ¼”:
For the inside, cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼”, heat emboss the sentiment with Copper Embossing Powder, and adhere the ¾” strip on the side:
Here are the three different colored cards and the inside of the Mint Macaron, the card base is cut at 4 ¼” x 11”and scored at 5 ½”:
Aside from the time it took to color the DSP, this really is a simple card to make! I wasn’t sure if I was going to use a coordinating color for the card base, but I really liked the look of using the same colored cardstock as the Stampin’ Blends used to color the DSP. If you don’t have the Painted Labels Dies, you can always use your Layering Circles Dies, Layering Square Dies, and punches! Let’s get some happy mail sent out today!!
