Hello and welcome to today’s card, which is a fun and tropical card featuring the Tropical Oasis Suite! The Tropical Oasis Designer Series Paper has some absolutely beautiful designs that are sure to perk you up and out of those “winter blues”! As I was looking over the DSP and trying to decide which design to use, I thought why not the pineapple design? I will admit that it’s not necessarily a design that I would be drawn to create with, so I thought this would be a perfect way to not only challenge myself, but to also create a cute and fun card!
For the base layer, cut a piece of Soft Suede cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼”, spritz with some water, and emboss with the Coastal Weave 3D Embossing Folder. I then used my Stazon Saddle Brown ink pad and “dragged” it across the embossed cardstock, vertically and horizontally (top to bottom and left to right). I felt that this really gave the embossed cardstock that “basket” look:
For the card front, you will need:
1. Cut a 3” x 3” square of this design from the DSP and then cut at 3 ¼” x 3 ¼” square of So Saffron cardstock to be layered under the DSP.
2. Stamp the pineapple stamp in the Saddle Brown in on Very Vanilla cardstock, use the Daffodil Delight and Old Olive Watercolor pencils to color in, blend with the Stampin’ Blender Pen, and cut out with the coordinating die.
3. Choose one of the Tropical Oasis Trinkets.
4. Cut a 5 ¼” piece of the Braided Burlap Trim.
5. Using the aloha die, cut two times from Very Vanilla cardstock and one time from the Gold Foil Sheet. All three layers will be adhered together, with the gold foil cut out on top.
6. Use three of the leaf dies to cut out of Old Olive cardstock (I spritzed the cardstock first with water since these are cut and emboss dies) and then took each leave and “dragged” them across the saddle brown ink pad, making sure the edges get inked.
I used Tear & Tape to adhere the burlap trim across the middle of the embossed cardstock base layer, adhere the pineapple cut out on top of one of the pineapples from the DSP, adhere the DSP/cardstock layers to the embossed cardstock base layer with dimensionals, and a glue dot to adhere the trinket to the burlap trim:
The leaves are adhered to the embossed cardstock base layer and the layered die cut sentiment is adhered around the bottom of the leaves. I also frayed the end of the burlap trim with my fingernails:
This completed piece is adhered to an Old Olive cardstock base layer, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½”, and scored at 4 ¼”:
For the inside, cut a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼”, stamp and color the pineapple in the corner the same way as the one on the card front, and stamp the sentiment in saddle brown ink:
This card is just so cute! Not only is this also a great “masculine” card, but if you are looking for Father’s Day cards, this would totally be a great option! I know, it may seem a little soon to be thinking about Father’s Day, but I just wanted to show you that this suite also has a masculine side and you can easily make multiples of this card since the DSP cut is smaller!
