Hello and welcome to today’s card, which features Q-tip coloring with the Flowering Foils Designer Series Paper! Have you ever colored using a Q-tip? This is a fun and easy way to color using your ink pads and the end of a Q-tip! The Flowering Foils DSP is nice and smooth, so applying the ink is very easy and dries quickly. Since there are a few smaller, detailed pieces on this DSP, I thought using a Q-tip would be a great way to color it in and if you are just starting your crafting journey and don’t have a lot of supplies or are limited on space, this would be a fun technique to show you!
The base layer is this design from the DSP, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”. I first colored in all the leaves with Pear Pizzazz ink, the flower centers with Pineapple Punch ink, and Flirty Flamingo ink on different flower petals:
I then colored in the flowers with Petal Pink in and the flower buds with Grapefruit Grove ink:
I went back over the flower centers with Pineapple Punch ink and blended the Petal Pink ink on the petals a little more. I then filled in the background with a Light Balmy Blue Stampin’ Blends to really make the colors pop:
For the rest of the card front, you will need:
1. 6 ½” piece of Petal Pink Organdy Ribbon.
2. Enough Braided Linen Trim to tie into a bow.
3. One of the 5mm (large) Champagne Rhinestone Basic Jewels.
4. Stamp the sentiment on Whisper White cardstock in Gray Granite ink and punch out with the Tailored Tag Punch. Punch another piece out of Silver Foil Sheet and cut in half, this will be layered under the sentiment.
Use liquid glue to adhere the foil punch piece under the sentiment, this will give you time to move the piece before it sets and dries. Fold the organdy ribbon in half and use a glue dot to keep it in place. Tie the linen trim into a bow, use a glue dot to adhere to the organdy ribbon, and place the Champagne Rhinestone on the middle of the bow:
Use another glue dot to adhere the organdy ribbon to the base layer and dimensionals to adhere the sentiment:
This completed piece is adhered to a Gray Granite cardstock card base, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½”, and scored at 4 ¼”:
I kept the inside very simple, stamped the sentiment in Gray Granite ink on a piece of Whisper White cardstock, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”:

Do you think I could color other dsp with technique?

While I have not tried this technique with regular DSP, I feel this would work best if used on specialty paper that has a smooth finish.
