Hello and welcome to today’s card, which is a step-fold card featuring the Lovely Lily Pad products from the 2020 Sale-A-Bration Catalog! I just love the stamp set, dies, and coordinating DSP (that you can earn for FREE with a qualifying order!!) and how versatile the products are to make a stunning card for any occasion-just add sentiments! That’s exactly what I did for this card, it wasn’t until after I had the card put together, that I decided to make this a sympathy card. If you have never made a step-card, I highly suggest you try it, as it is very easy to make and replicate.
For this card, I used Pretty Peacock cardstock for the card base, cut at 4 ¼” x 11”, and then score at 1 ¼”, 2 ½”, 4 ¼”, 6”, and 8 ¼”. You will fold each score line in the opposite direction, up, down, up, down, and up, and use your Bone Folder to burnish each fold line:
For the back piece base layer, cut a piece of Pretty Peacock cardstock at 4 ¼” x 5 1/8”:
I used this design from the Lily Impressions DSP, cutting one piece at 4” x 4 7/8”, one piece at 1 ½” x 4”, and one piece at 1” x 4”:
For the rest of the card, you will need:
1. Purple Posy cardstock: stamp the large lily in Blackberry Bliss ink and cut out with the coordinating die, use the small detailed lily die to cut out two pieces, use the medium outline die to cut out one piece.
2. Blackberry Bliss cardstock: cut out one of the 4 ¼” detail die, one of the large detailed lily die, two the medium detailed lily die, and I used a pencil to trace the outline of the medium detailed lily die, twice, and cut out with snips.
3. Granny Apple Green cardstock: stamp Garden Green ink twice for the small lily pad and once for the large lily pad, cut out with the coordinating die, and use the large stem die to cut out once.
4. Use the small stem die to cut out one piece from Garden Green cardstock.
To assemble:
Step 1: use liquid glue to adhere the Blackberry Bliss detailed cut-out to the 1” x 4” strip of DSP.
Step 2: use liquid glue to adhere the Purple Posy cardstock outline to the Blackberry Bliss cut out, and then adhere one each to the small lily pad. These are then adhered to the 1 ½” x 4” strip of DSP:
Adhere the DSP to the base layer and use liquid glue to adhere the detailed Blackberry Bliss cut-outs to the Purple Posy background cut-outs. Adhere the large lily to the large lily pad and adhere the large stem cut-out to the DSP, adhere the medium lily to the large stem cut-out, cut a mini dimensional in half to adhere the small stem cut-out on top:
Each piece of DSP is adhered to the front of the “step” and only put adhesive on the last “step” to adhere the bottom half of the cardstock to it:
The sentiment is stamped in Blackberry Bliss ink on Purple Posy cardstock, cut out with the third smallest scalloped Layering Circles die, and adhered to the back DSP. I used a clear block so you can see what it looks like completely folded:
For the back, cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼”, stamp the sentiment in Pretty Peacock ink, the flat side (or fill-in) of the small lily stamp is first stamped in Highland Heather ink, stamped off, and then stamped on the cardstock (if you do not have the Purple Posy ink pad, this is pretty darn close), and the detailed side of the stamp is stamped in Blackberry Bliss ink:
Don’t you just love these SAB products? If you noticed, I did not adhere the back sentiment to the card, this will make it easier to write my thoughts down and then adhere just to the lower half of the cardstock card base on the back. I also used a bigger piece of cardstock for the back, this will not be seen from the front, but it will help the back stand-up and keep in place.
