Hello and welcome to the Stamp It Group’s Fall Theme Blog Hop! My name is Christina Miller and you are visiting my blog, Christina’s Creative Corner! Whether this is your first stop on the blog hop or have hopped over from another side, thank you for letting me share my creation with you today, so let’s get started!
So, what comes to mind when you think of fall? Is it the crisp, fresh air? Is it the warm spices and fall scents? How about sitting around a fire with friends and family and enjoying time together? All of the above?? Me, too!! My original card that I was creating for today started off completely different with the sunflower stamps from the Painted Harvest stamp set. While I stamped the outer layer in Crusted Curry ink, the inner layer in Terracotta Tile ink, and the center in Soft Suede ink, the Crushed Curry and Terracotta Tile combo looked like a “fire” to me, so then I thought about how I could create a “fire pit”? After some experimenting I created today’s card, which I hope you will enjoy!
To create the “fire pit”, start my cutting a piece of Gray Granite cardstock at 2 ¾” x 3 ¼” and use the Detailed Trio Punch to round the corners. I used the largest Layering Oval Dies to cut out the middle of the cardstock (I just “eyed it” till it looked right”, embossed with the Brick & Mortar 3D embossing folder, and then added Gray Granite and Merry Merlot ink with a sponge dauber to give the fire pit some distressing:

Stamp the outer layer of the sunflower in Crushed Curry ink and the inner layer and the center in Terracotta Tile ink. I fussy cut these out and then added some more Crushed Curry ink around the edges with a sponge dauber. Cut the flowers in half and use three of the pieces with liquid glue to create the fire. Trim off any excess piece of the flower that may be sticking out of the sides and then “round off” the pointed corners:

The base layer is Very Vanilla cardstock cut at 4” x 5 ¼” and I used my Stamparatus to stamp the trees several times in Early Espresso ink, I wanted extra dark, but not black:

To create the ground, I masked just above the tree trunks and used a sponge dauber with Old Olive ink to color in. I then placed the mask over the ground and colored in the sky with sponge daubers using Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Cajun Craze, and Merry Merlot inks. After removing the mask, I blended the line using what ink was left on the Old Olive sponge dauber:

I cut out two Adirondack chairs out of Crumb Cake cardstock and then embossed them with the Subtle 3D embossing folder. Before adhering anything down, I first lined everything up on the base layer. I used liquid glue to adhere the sides of the chairs to the fire pit, cut up six mini dimensionals to use on the back of the chairs, and used more liquid glue on the back of the fire pit to adhere to the base layer:

The base layer is adhered to a Mossy Meadow cardstock card base, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½”, and scored at 4 ¼”:

For the inside, use a 4” x 5 ¼” piece of Very Vanilla cardstock, I used part of the sentiment from Winter Woods stamp set in Mossy Meadow ink (you can use either a Stampin’ Write Marker or mask part of the sentiment and ink with the stamp pad), and stamp the pinecones in the corners with Early Espresso ink:

Isn’t this a fun card?? It really is a great “all occasion” card that you can send to anyone! I just love it when you can create a completely “outside of the box” cards, just use your imagination!!
