Hello and welcome to today’s card, which very little stamping, but whole lot of sponging, with distressing the Come Sail Away Suite! The sailboat featured on the card front is one of the 3” x 4” designs from the Come Sail Away Memories and More card pack and I thought what better way to create a card than to pair it with the coordinating DSP and distressing! I’ll even show you how I “distressed” the anchor and twine!
To start, your base layer is Soft Suede cardstock, cut at 3 ¾” x 5 ¼”, this design from the Come Sail Away DSP, cut at 3 ½” x 5”, and the sailboat from the memories and more card pack:
I first started with the Soft Suede base layer, stamped it with the Crackle Paint Background stamp in Soft Suede and then embossed with the Pinewood Planks DTIEF:
Then I simply tore the paper around each side and use a Stampin’ Sponge with Soft Suede ink around the torn edges and the raised embossed part of the cardstock:
I repeated the same process for the DSP, tearing around the edges and inking with a sponge and Soft Suede ink:
For the sailboat, I tore around the edges, used a sponge with Balmy Blue ink and then lightly went around with Soft Suede, not adding anymore ink to the sponge from the ink pad:
So that you can tell a difference, the anchor trinket on the right is how it comes and the trinket on the left has been distressed a little. I patted the trinket with my Stazon Ink pad, set it aside to let dry completely, and then used my sponge with Soft Suede ink (dapping) to “darken” the look of the anchor:
I used some of the Night of Navy/Sahara Sand Baker’s Twine to tie around the anchor and then a couple of knots, use either your paper piercer or the pointed end attachment from Take Your Pick to loosen the threads of the twine, and then I used my sponge with the Soft Suede ink to “dap” the twine, giving it a distressed look:
The card base is Sahara Sand cardstock, cut at 4 ¼” x 11”, scored at 5 ½”, and I used a sponge dauber with Sahara Sand ink lightly around the edges of the card front:
I adhered the embossed base layer to the card base, slightly at an angle to the left, the DSP is adhered slightly at an angle to the right, the sailboat is adhered at a slight angle to the left, and then the anchor and twine are adhered with glue dots:
The inside of the card is Very Vanilla cardstock, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”, the sentiment is stamped in Sahara Sand ink, the anchor is heat embossed with Clear Emboss Powder and I used a sponge dauber with Sahara Sand ink to sponge the ink around the anchor, and also used the sponge dauber with Sahara Sand around the edges of the Very Vanilla cardstock:
