Hello and welcome to today’s card, which an awesome fun fold card featuring the Come Sail Away Suite! This suite makes making those masculine cards so easy! What better way to show off this suite than to make a fun fold card? While this style of card may look complicated, it’s pretty easy and I’m going to show you each step on how I made this card, so let’s get started!
Your card base is Seaside Spray cardstock, cut at 4 ¼” x 11”, scored at 5 ½” and at 2 ¾”:
You will have a smaller card base, which is Night of Navy cardstock, cut at 3 ¾” x 7 ½”, and scored at 3 ¾”:
For this smaller card base, fold the card in half at the score line, and the opening will be facing left. I chose this design from Come Sail Away DSP, cut at 3 ½” x 3 ½”, and the lighthouse is stamped in Soft Suede ink on Crumb Cake cardstock, cut out with the coordinating die. The DSP is adhered to the card front and the lighthouse is adhered with dimensionals:
For the inside of the smaller card base, cut a piece of Whisper White and Seaside Spray cardstock at 3 ½” x 3 ½”. The sentiment from Itty Bitty Birthdays is stamped in Night of Navy ink on the Whisper White cardstock. The Seaside Spray cardstock is embossed with the High Seas 3D folder, but before embossing, I used a sponge dauber with Night of Navy ink to color the folder, spritzed the paper with water, and then embossed. The two sailboats are stamped in Whisper White cardstock in Night of Navy ink, I used a blender pen to “pull the ink” from the shadows and fill ink, and then cut out with the coordinating die:
These are adhered to the inside with snail:
For the card base, you will need two piece of DSP cut at 2 ½”x 4” for the two small panels, the seagrass die is used to cut out of Sahara Sand and Mossy Meadow cardstock, the sentiment is stamped in Soft Suede ink on Crumb Cake cardstock and cut out with the 1 ½” Circle Punch, the sentiment die is used to cut out a piece in Soft Suede ink, and then you will need an anchor and boats wheel from the trinkets, I used some Night of Navy/Sahara Sand Baker’s Twine to tie into knots on the anchor:
The two panel pieces of DSP are adhered to the cardstock and the seagrass is adhere to the inside panel:
The flap from the smaller card is going to go under the sentiment, so before adhering anything, I lined up the smaller flap and the sentiment piece so that I knew how far to the right the smaller card needed to go, but also where I could place the sentiment so that it would help close the card:
I used liquid glue (this is important) to adhere the smaller card to the card base, then that way I had a little wiggle room if I need to move the smaller card:
I used a clear block to help keep the card flap closed so that I could line up the sentiment with dimensionals. You do not want dimensionals all the way over to the right, you need to leave that space open for the flap:
Then I adhered the trinkets with glue dots:
Here is the completed card opened:
Now I could have used one more piece of DSP in between the Seaside Spray cardstock and the sentiment, but I liked it this way. Here are the measurements for this fun fold card so you can make your own!
Card base: 4 ¼” x 11”, scored at 5 ½” and 2 ¾”
Inside base: 3 ¾” x 7 ½”, scored at 3 ¾”
Card base layers (cardstock or DSP): 2 pieces cut at 2 ½” x 4” and one piece at 4” x 5 ¼”
Inside card layers: 3 ½” x 3 ½”
For the flap, you will need a smaller piece with dimensionals
