Hello and welcome to today’s card, which features heat embossing with the Sailing Home stamp set, Smooth Sailing dies, and the Come Sail Away Designer Series Paper! Have you ever tried heat embossing with distinktive stamps? It can be a little tricky and look like a blob on your cardstock, but I am very pleased with how the Sailing Home stamp set turned out! Another tip I can pass along with this stamp set, is that you can use your Stamparatus to line up the rope stamp!
The base layer for the card front is Very Vanilla cardstock, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”. I used my Stamparatus to stamp the rope stamp in Soft Suede ink, using the “hinge step” technique, but instead of moving the plate down to the next insert, you will skip two steps down:
Additionally for the card front, you will need this design from the Come Sail Away DSP cut at 3” x 4 ¼”, heat emboss the bird and large sailboat stamps with Copper Embossing Powder on Crumb Cake cardstock, cutting out with the 4thlargest Stitched Nested Labels Dies, the ship’s wheel is cut out of Copper Foil Sheets, and then a piece of Copper Trim that I braided to look like a rope:
Adhere the Crumb Cake cardstock to the DSP and then adhere this piece at an angle to the Very Vanilla base layer:
The base layer is adhered to a Crumb Cake cardstock card base, cut at 4 ¼” x 11”, scored at 5 ½”, I cut little pieces from the Foam Strips to adhere the ship’s wheel, and glue dots to adhere the Copper Trim rope:
For the inside, cut a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼”, heat emboss the smaller ship with Copper Embossing Powder, and adhere a 1” x 5 ¼” piece of the same DSP from the card front:
Wasn’t this a fun card to make?? I first tried heat embossing with the Butterfly Wishes stamp set and that did not work out at all, so I was very pleased that these distinktive stamps worked out! This is a great masculine card for any occasion and with Father’s Day just a couple days away, this would be perfect!
