Hello and welcome to today’s card, which features the Magical Mermaid stamp set and (the retiring) Tranquil Textures Designer Paper! I will so miss this designer series paper, but then again, I always feel this way as the current catalog comes to an end and designer series papers retire! I am also very excited about all the new designer series paper from the upcoming Annual Catalog and cannot wait to get started creating with them to share with you all! Are you on the same merry-go-round ride with me?? Good! Lol
I first started with the mermaid stamp with VersaMark ink, heat embossed with silver emboss powder, colored the hair and body with the Bronze and Light Petal Pink Stampin’ Blends, and used a sponge dauber each to color the tail in Soft Sea Foam, Mint Macaron, and Tranquil Tide inks. I used my snips to fussy cut the mermaid and since the hair is a little tricky, I used the Bronze Stampin’ Blends to touch up any spots. **TIP-since the blends will smear the embossed image, I used light brush strokes to color the hair:
I used this design from the DSP, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”. First stamp the sand stamp in Sahara Sand ink along the bottom, stamp the sea weed stamp first in Soft Sea Foam ink and then use a sponge to apply the Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint directly to the stamp and then stamp the image onto the DSP:
I also used the same technique for the spotted stamp to make it look like shimmery bubble in the water. After this dried (short wait), I used the Seaside TIEF on the stamped DSP:
Additionally, for the card front I stamped the sentiment on a piece of Whisper White cardstock in Night of Navy ink, used my fingers to tear the paper around the sentiment, and then used the Mint Macaron Sponge Dauber around the edge. I wanted to give this a “framed” look, so I cut a piece of Night of Navy cardstock at 3 ¾” x 5 1/8” and used the 2ndlargest Rectangle Stitched Framelit to cut out the middle:
To assemble, I used my Fine Tip Glue Pen along the edges of the Night of Navy frame to adhere to the embossed DSP (I also place a couple of clear blocks on top to let the glue adhere for a minute) and then used dimensionals for the mermaid and the sentiment:
This is then adhered to a Mint Macaron cardstock card base, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½”, and scored at 4 ¼”:
For the inside sentiment, on a 4” x 5 ¼” piece of Whisper White cardstock, stamp the sentiment in Night of Navy ink, stamp the sand along the bottom in Sahara Sand ink, and then stamp the sea weed stamp in Soft Sea Foam and Mint Macaron inks:
Easy to make for a stunning birthday card! I just love the added touch of shimmer with the shimmer paint! Never thought about applying the shimmer paint directly to the stamp? I would recommend first cleaning the stamp with a baby wipe or rinsing under the sink before cleaning with your Stampin’ Scrub. All products used today are carrying over, EXCEPT the DSP and the Tranquil Tide ink.
