Stormy seas with High Tide

Hello and welcome to today’s card, which is an easy card to make with the High Tide stamp set when you want to send words of encouragement. High Tide is one of my favorite stamp sets, not only does it have great sentiments, but I just love the lighthouse. I really wanted to create a card that was fairly muted or monochromatic and that the lighthouse would be the focal point. To create the monochromatic effect, Gray Granite ink is a great color to use, and I chose Poppy Parade ink for the lighthouse because I just loved how the color popped against the Gray Granite.

I first started with a 4” x 5 ¼” piece of Very Vanilla cardstock and used my Stamparatus to stamp ground under the lighthouse and the detailed lighthouse stamp in Gray Granite ink and then the second lighthouse stamp in Poppy Parade ink:

I then used a Stampin’ Sponge to sponge Gray Granite ink all around, going not quite to the lighthouse:

The wave stamp and the small “sand like” stamp are both stamped in Gray Granite ink. The small stamp is similar to the ground stamp for the lighthouse and that is used to fill in the ground:

I used my Stamparatus again to stamp the grass and the birds in Gray Granite ink three times each. I wanted them slightly darker, but still a bit muted:

This card front is then adhered to a Gray Granite card base, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½”, and scored at 4 ¼”, with dimensionals:

For the inside sentiment, use another piece of 4” x 5 ¼” Very Vanilla cardstock, stamp the sentiment in Gray Granite ink and then use the Poppy Parade Stampin’ Write Marker to color the word “hope”. The birds in the water are stamped in Gray Granite ink in the bottom right corner. **TIP-If you do not have a Stampin’ Write Marker, place the stamp on your Stamparatus and then mask the word(s) that you don’t want inked**:

So, what do you think? I just love how the Poppy Parade makes the lighthouse so striking against the Gray Granite!

I am an Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrator located in Norfolk, Virginia and was first introduced to Stampin' Up! in 2004 when I attended my very first card class with my Mother-in-Law and I was immediately hooked! I first started out by making simple holiday cards and over the years as my stash has grown, so have my card and craft making skills. It has always warmed my heart when family and friends love my cards, but they actually keep them! In 2016 I decided to become a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator and figured I could just do it for a hobby, but now I am going to branch out for all to world to see. So grab your favorite beverage, sit in your favorite chair, and join me as I share my cards and crafts with you! Enjoy!
