Hello and welcome to today’s card, which a fun embossing technique with the Florentine Filigree Bundle! In the fall I purchase the Shimmery White Embossing Paste with every intent on incorporating it into my Christmas cards, but sadly I didn’t and it has sat neglected in my drawer all this time. Inspired by the YouTube video from Stampin’ Up for this bundle, I created my own template by using the die with a window sheet. Just add some ink from your ink refill bottle and you can create any color combination! The Florentine Thinlits Die really reminds me of a trellis, so why not pair it with the Butterfly Elements?? Just so you can see, this is what the window sheet looks like after cutting with the die:

For this card, I’m using Fresh Fig cardstock for the card base, cut at 4 ¼” x 11”, and scored at 5 ½”. Since embossing paste is wet, I cut another piece of Fresh Fig cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼” for the base layer to apply the embossing paste because as the paste dries it will “warp” the cardstock a bit. I placed the window sheet template on top of the cardstock (the window sheet is the same size as the cardstock) and then used blue painter’s tape to keep it in place at the top and bottom. Make sure that the tape is only on the window sheet so it does not interfere with the embossing paste:

I used my silicone mat to mix Shimmery White Embossing Paste with Petal Pink Ink, using the ink refill bottle. I then used the palette knife to spread the embossing paste completely over the Florentine mask:

I waited a couple of minutes and then carefully removed the tape and then the mask. I had a container with warm soapy water nearby and put the palette knife, mat, and mask directly in:

While the paste dried on the cardstock, I began working on the rest of the elements for the front of the card. The sentiment from the stamp set is stamped on Whisper White cardstock in Fresh Fig ink, punched out with the 2” Circle Punch, and then I punched out a piece of Petal Pink cardstock with the Starburst Punch to layer the sentiment on. From the Butterfly Elements, I used a small and large leaf colored in Granny Apple Green ink, the small butterfly is colored lightly with Fresh Fig ink and a Sponge Dauber, the next size butterfly is colored with Petal Pink ink, and the largest butterfly is colored with Fresh Fig ink (I pressed the element directly onto the stamp pad). For an added touch, add pearl embellishments to the butterflies:

To assemble the card front after the embossing paste dries, adhere the leaves to the sentiment with glue dots and then adhere the sentiment piece and butterflies with liquid glue:

For the inside, cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock to 4” x 5 ¼” and stamp the sentiment in Fresh Fig ink. The butterflies are from Butterfly Gala stamp set, stamped in Petal Pink and Fresh Fig inks:

Wasn’t this a fun card to make?? Embossing paste is a great element to add texture to your card and adding ink takes it up a notch! Creating your own template with a window sheet is so easy, try it!!
