Hello and welcome to today’s card, which features the Stained Glass Technique using the Humming Along stamp set! I really wanted to create a card using this technique and thought the hummingbird from this set would be perfect! Since I was not quite sure about the coloring of a hummingbird, I googled it and was quite surprised at how colorful hummingbirds can be! That made the process so much easier since I used Stampin’ Blends to color the hummingbird, just had to figure out which colors to use!
I first started by heat embossing the stamped image in Black Emboss powder on a piece of Vellum cardstock:

On the backside of the Vellum cardstock I colored in the hummingbird using Dark Poppy Parade, Light Bermuda Bay, Light Night of Navy, Dark Granny Apple Green, Dark Smokey Slate, and Light Basic Black Stampin’ Write Markers. ***TIP-if you want to make the color darker on Vellum cardstock, let it completely dry and then apply another coat of color:

I then cut out the image with the coordinating die from Hummingbird Framelits Dies and cut out another piece in Very Vanilla cardstock. I then used some liquid glue and a Stampin’ Sponge to lightly apply the glue and place the stamped image onto the cardstock. I thought this would make the colors stand out more and it would be easier to adhere the image:

The base layer is this design from Petal Promenade DSP, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”, and I used this edgelit from the Be Mine Stitched Framelits Dies on each end:

For the card front, you will need the hummingbird piece, some Braided Linen Trim, the sentiment is from Part of My Story in Berry Burst ink on Very Vanilla cardstock, punched out with the Story Label Punch*, and then another piece is punched out of Gray Granite cardstock, cut in half for layering under. *The Story Label Punch is a new punch that coordinates with the Part of My Story stamp set and will be available for purchase March 1, 2019*:

The base layer is adhered to a Gray Granite card base, cut at 4 ¼” x 11”, and scored at 5 ½”. Use enough trim to tie into a knot and I placed dimensionals on top and bottom, where the sentiment will be, to keep the trim in place:

The sentiment is placed on the dimensionals and then the hummingbird is adhered with dimensionals as well:

For the inside, cut a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼”. The sentiment from the stamp set is stamped in Berry Burst ink on a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock. This is then cut out with the coordinating die and another piece is cut out of Gray Granite cardstock. I then trimmed the Very Vanilla cardstock with Paper Snips so that just the middle with the sentiment is left, adhered this to the Gray Granite piece, and then adhered with dimensionals:

Don’t you just love how the hummingbird turned out?? I really like layering the Vellum piece on Very Vanilla cardstock, makes the colors pop!
