Hello and welcome to today’s card, which is a sweet springtime themed card made with Grapefruit Grove as the featured color! When the 2018-2020 InColors came out in the Annual Catalog, I just loved Grapefruit Grove! It is such a pretty orange/peach color, however, I struggle to use the cardstock! Anytime I sit down to create a card with Grapefruit Grove cardstock I tend to see more orange than anything else! Orange is a hard color for me as it’s not a color I tend to use/wear in my day-to-day. So when I received my latest order that included the Grapefruit Grove & Lovely Lipstick Foil Sheets, I was bound and determined to create a card with Grapefruit Grove Cardstock, lol! These foil sheets are truly stunning and they come in a package of eight, four of each color. I really wanted to use the small butterflies from the Butterfly Beauty Thinlits Dies since they are adorable and after some thinking, the flower stamps from Abstract Impressions seemed perfect.
The card base is Grapefruit Grove cardstock, cut at 4 ¼” x 11”, and scored at 5 ½”:
The base layer is Whisper White cardstock, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”, and is embossed with the Pinewood Planks Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder:
The next layer is Gingham Gala 6” x 6” DSP, cut at 3” x 4 ½”:
For the rest of the card front, you will need a 2 ½” x 3” piece of Whisper White cardstock, four of the butterflies cut out of the Grapefruit Grove Foil Sheet, and Grapefruit Grove Organdy Ribbon (this is a part of a combo pack found in the SAB catalog). To create the stamped flowers on the Whisper White cardstock, I first stamped the taller grass stamp in Lemon Lime Twist ink and then stamped the smaller grass stamp in Granny Apple Green ink. I stamped the flower image in Grapefruit Grove ink and then stamped the accent flower petals in Calypso Coral ink:
Tip for cutting with detailed thinlits: Butterfly Beauty Thinlits come with multiples of the same die, which saves you time not have to cut the same image multiple times with the Big Shot. I used all eight of the small detailed butterfly thinlits, so I cut a piece of the foil sheet at 1” x 6” and then cut a piece of the Multipurpose Adhesive Sheet the same, adhered it to the back of the foil sheet, and then ran the dies thru the Big Shot. Since the adhesive sheet makes the paper a little bit thicker, I run them thru the big shot 3-4 to make sure it cuts through the layers:
To assemble the card front, lay the gingham paper down, slightly askew, and then adhere the stamped flower piece on top. This piece is then adhered to the embossed Whisper White base layer, use a piece of the organdy ribbon long enough to tie around into a bow, and then place four of the eight butterflies where you would like them. This completed piece is then adhered to the Grapefruit Grove card base:
For the inside, I used a piece of Whisper White cardstock, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”, and then placed the remaining four butterflies along the sides:
Wasn’t that a fun, easy, and sweet card to make?? For this particular card I chose not to use a sentiment, I’m not sure what I’m going to use this for…yet! This is a great way to create cards without any theme and have readily available!
