New Years Blog Hop!

Hello and welcome to the Stamp It Group’s New Year’s Theme Blog Hop! My name is Christina Miller, I’m an independent Stampin’ Up! demonstrator located in Norfolk, Virginia, and you are visiting my blog, Christina’s Creative Corner! Whether this is your first stop on the blog hop or you have hopped on over from another site, thank you for letting me share my creation today! So, let’s get started!

While we send or give out cards for Christmas, what about New Year’s? Whether you are attending a New Year’s get-together, hosting a get-together, or maybe have other needs for a New Year’s card, what better way than to make one with shine and bling?

To start, use Thick Whisper White cardstock for your card base, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½”, and scored at 4 ¼”:

You will need two pieces of Basic Black cardstock, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”, one for the card front base layer and the other for the inside base layer:

From the Broadway Bound Specialty Designer Series, you will use this design, cut at 3 ¾” x 5”:

For the front of the card, you will use the celebrate from the Celebrate You Thinlits to cut out one piece in Gold Glimmer Paper and another piece in Basic Black cardstock (you can use either of the base layers for this). The two balloons are punched out using the Balloon Bouquet Punch (smaller balloon) in Basic Black and Gold Foil Paper. I used the balloon fill-in stamp from Happy Birthday Gorgeous to heat emboss Black Emboss Powder on the gold balloon and Gold Emboss Powder on the black balloon. The gold balloon is tied off with Basic Black Baker’s Twine and the black balloon is tied off with Whisper White Baker’s Twine. I used the pennant from the Playful Pennants Framelits Dies in Basic Black cardstock and used the numbers from the Pick A Pennant stamp set, which are heat embossed in Gold Emboss Powder (I created a template for my Stamparatus to make stamping easier). The tassels from the framelits, which are cut out in Gold Foil Paper:

To assemble the front of the card, adhere the two base layers to the card base, use your Fine Tip Glue Pen to layer the Basic Black celebrate to the back of the Gold Glimmer celebrate, and then adhere to the DSP.  I used the Fine Tip Glue Pen to adhere the tassels to the pennant, trimming the ends, and then used Mini Dimensionals to adhere to the DSP. The balloons are then adhered with Dimensionals:

For the inside sentiment, cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock at 3 ¾” x 5”, the sentiment from the Warm Hearted stamp set is stamped in Memento ink, and the accent stamps from the set are heat embossed in Gold Emboss Powder. This piece is adhered to the other piece of Basic Black cardstock and then adhered to the card base:

What do you think?? Isn’t this a pretty easy card to make? Another great use for a New Year’s card, is that if you hand out cards to the service professionals in your life and maybe you aren’t going to see someone until after Christmas, well here you go! This would also come in handy if you need a non-traditional holiday card!

Wondering what specials are going on?? Current specials are listed to the right!!

I am an Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrator located in Norfolk, Virginia and was first introduced to Stampin' Up! in 2004 when I attended my very first card class with my Mother-in-Law and I was immediately hooked! I first started out by making simple holiday cards and over the years as my stash has grown, so have my card and craft making skills. It has always warmed my heart when family and friends love my cards, but they actually keep them! In 2016 I decided to become a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator and figured I could just do it for a hobby, but now I am going to branch out for all to world to see. So grab your favorite beverage, sit in your favorite chair, and join me as I share my cards and crafts with you! Enjoy!
