Hello and welcome to today’s card, which features the new stamp set Humming Along and the new 6” x 6” Gingham Gala Designer Series Paper from the 2019 Occasions Catalog! Not only is Humming Along a brand new “cling mount” * stamp set, but it also has coordinating dies. This is a beautiful set and a great way to get creative with Stampin’ Blends. If you don’t have any Stampin’ Blends and would like to try them, then this set would be a great way to start. Just simply pick out a few colors that you would use to start with and then slowly add a few more every time you order. I will admit that I was a little hesitant to color with the Stampin’ Blends at first, but there are so many great examples out there and the best way to really become “comfortable” is to stamp and color away! Today I am making a super easy card that you can make in a few minutes, so let’s get started!
The card base is Thick Whisper White cardstock, cut at 4 ¼” x 11”, and scored at 5 ½”:
The base layer is Highland Heather cardstock, cut at 4” x 5 ¼” and is embossed with the Subtle Dynamic TIEF:
For the card front, I stamped the flower in Memento Ink on Whisper White cardstock and colored in with Light Granny Apple Green, Light Highland Heather, Light Daffodil Delight, and Light Calypso Coral Stampin’ Blends. I used a piece of the Highland Heather Gingham Gala DSP, which I trimmed 1 ½” off one end, turned the paper, and cut that in half at 3”. If you cut the 1 ½” piece in half, you will have two pieces measuring ¾” x 6” and two pieces measuring 3” x 4 ½”, which you can make two cards from this piece of DSP. The ¾” x 6” piece will be for the inside of the card. You will also need enough Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon in Whisper White to go around the base layer and tie into a bow:
To assemble the card front, adhere the DSP to the base layer at a slight angle, wrap the tulle ribbon around the base layer and tie into a bow, adhere the flower with dimensionals, and then adhere the completed piece to the card base:
For the inside of the card, the sentiment from the set is stamped in Highland Heather ink, the leaves are stamped in Old Olive ink, colored in with Lemon Lime Twist Stampin’ Write Marker, added some Wink of Stella, and the ¾” piece of DSP is adhered along the bottom, trimming off the excess. If you notice, the inside piece has a smaller gingham pattern than the front piece, all of the DSP has one side in a big and one side in a small pattern:
Wasn’t that quick and easy? I chose to use Light Granny Apple Green and Light Calypso Coral Stampin’ Blends because they were the closest to Grapefruit Grove and Lemon Lime Twist, which are two of the colors besides Highland Heather, Daffodil, and Balmy Blue (which Balmy Blue is going to be available in the Occasions Catalog, along with Mossy Meadow) in the Gingham Gala DSP.
*What are Cling Mount Stamps? They are the rubber stamps, but Stampin’ Up! has developed a new film cling to place on top of the stamp. The old image film that are on the older stamps either curled or just didn’t stick very well to the clear blocks and I, like most, just didn’t bother using them. Well, the new ones work very, very well and if there is any TIP I can pass on is that you do need to be careful when peeling the stamp off the case or block, start at the smallest point (if possible), and use the spatula end of the Take Your Pick tool, it’s very useful!
