To You & Yours-Paper Pumpkin Alternative p3

Hello and welcome to today’s cards, which are two more alternative ideas for the November 2018 Paper Pumpkin, To You & Yours. I decided to “step up” these cards by adding some shimmer paint, embossing, and die cutting. I wanted to create Christmas cards this still used the Paper Pumpkin supplies, but also make them a “wow” card that is still easy to make.

For the card on the left, start with Cherry Cobbler cardstock cut at 4 ¼” x 11” and scored at 5 ½” for your card base:

fullsizeoutput_2e1a

The base layer is the card base from the kit, which I cut two pieces at 4” x 5 ¼”, I used a sponge and applied Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint all over the front, and after this dried (it dries quickly), I embossed with the Softly Falling TIEF:

fullsizeoutput_2e1d

For the front sentiment, I cut the vanilla plaid base layer at 1 ¾” (this will give you three pieces at 1 ¾” x 4”) and punched one end with the Banner Triple Punch. The sentiment is heat embossed in Gold Emboss Powder on one of the square die cuts, tied a piece of the linen ribbon into a bow, use one of the vellum circles die cut, and six of die cut pine boughs:

fullsizeoutput_2e20

Adhere the vellum circle to the plaid paper and then just place on the base layer (do not adhere). Adhere the pine boughs to the vellum circle towards the top left and bottom right “corners”. Placing the paper and vellum base on the embossed base layer will help ensure that the pine boughs are not sticking out over the edge and will fit in the envelope properly:

fullsizeoutput_2e23fullsizeoutput_2e26

You will then adhere the square die cut over the vellum circle with dimensionals. To complete the card front, adhere the base layer to the card base and then adhere the sentiment piece with dimensionals:

fullsizeoutput_2e29fullsizeoutput_2e2c

The inside sentiment is on a piece of 4” x 5 ¼” Whisper White cardstock, stamped in Cherry Cobbler ink. I used the tree from the Winter Woods stamp set in Garden Green ink, placed some Embossing Paste around the tree to make it look like snow, and then used Dark Cherry Cobbler, Dark Daffodil Delight, and Dark Call Me Clover Stampin’ Blends to color some Basic Rhinestone Jewels to look like ornaments. The star is stamped in Daffodil Delight ink and then colored in with a Blender Pen:

fullsizeoutput_2e2f

For the card on the right, start with Thick Very Vanilla cardstock cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½”, and scored at 4 ¼” for the card base:

fullsizeoutput_2e32

The base layer is the card base from the kit, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”. This piece is embossed with the Pinewood Planks Dynamic TIEF and then I gently dragged my VersaMark pad across, sprinkled Gold Embossing Powder across, and then set using my Heat Tool:

fullsizeoutput_2e35

For the front of the card, you will need to cut out the deer in and flowers in Gold Foil using the dies from In the Woods, cut a piece of the linen ribbon long enough to tie around the deer’s neck (to look like a scarf), I used Dark Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Blend to color the rhinestone in the middle of the flower, two of the pine bough die cuts, cut the red plaid base layer in half (this will give you two pieces at 2” x 5 ¼”), and the sentiment is stamped in Cherry Cobbler ink on a ½” piece of Very Vanilla cardstock with the end punched out with the Banner Triple Punch:

fullsizeoutput_2e38

Adhere the base layer to the card base, adhere the plaid paper across the base layer, adhere the deer to the right side, adhere the pine boughs to the plaid paper with glue dots, adhere the gold flowers to the sentiment with glue dots, and then adhere the sentiment over the pine boughs with dimensionals:

fullsizeoutput_2e3b

For the inside sentiment, I heat embossed this and the deer from the Winter Woods stamp set in Gold Emboss Powder:

fullsizeoutput_2e3e

Aren’t those easy?? So now you have at least four more Christmas card that you can make from this Paper Pumpkin as alternatives! Here is all six cards from this week and if you CASE’d these, you will have a total of twelve cards!

To You & Yours-Paper Pumpkin Alternative p2

Hello and welcome to today’s cards, which are two more alternative ideas for the November 2018 Paper Pumpkin, To You & Yours. Both of these cards are very easy to make and you make two cards for the price of one! This is a great way to stretch out your Paper Pumpkin and incorporate just a few additional supplies. So, let’s get started!

For the card on the right, you will cut a piece of Garden Green cardstock at 5 ½” x 8 ½”, and score at 4 ¼” for your card base:

fullsizeoutput_2ddf

The base layer is actually the pre-cut and scored card base that I cut down to 4” x 5 ¼” and embossed with the Pinewood Planks Dynamic TIEF:

fullsizeoutput_2de2

The next layer is the Cherry Cobbler plaid layer, cut in half at 2 5/8”:

fullsizeoutput_2de5

For the front sentiment, you will use one of the circle vellum pieces, tie a piece of the Cherry Cobbler braided ribbon in a bow, two of the die cut pine boughs, the larger adhesive backed sequins, and the die cut square, stamping the sentiment in Garden Green ink and the star in Daffodil Delight ink:

fullsizeoutput_2de8

The vellum circle is adhered behind the sentiment, the pine boughs are adhered to the back, and the bow is adhered to the front, all with glue dots:

fullsizeoutput_2deb

This is then adhered to the plaid base and then I adhered a sequin in each corner:

fullsizeoutput_2dee

The embossed base layer is adhered to the card base and then the sentiment piece is adhered with dimensionals towards the bottom right corner:

fullsizeoutput_2df1

The inside sentiment is on a piece of 4” x 5 ¼” Whisper White cardstock, stamped in Garden Green and Daffodil Delight inks:

fullsizeoutput_2df4

For the card on the left, the base layer is Garden Green cardstock, cut at 4 ¼” x 11”, and scored at 5 ½”:

fullsizeoutput_2df7

The base layer is the pre-cut and scored card base, cut down to 4” x 5 ¼” and stamped with the Buffalo Check background stamp in Memento ink:

fullsizeoutput_2dfa

For the front of the card, you will need four of the pine boughs, one of the self-adhesive rectangles, one of the vellum rectangles, and the small banner with the sentiment stamped in Cherry Cobbler ink:

fullsizeoutput_2dfd

You will adhere the pine boughs together with glue dots, fanning them out. This is then adhered to the rectangle, the vellum piece is adhered to the back of the sentiment, and then this piece is adhered with a dimensional on each end:

fullsizeoutput_2e00fullsizeoutput_2e03fullsizeoutput_2e06

The base layer is adhered to the card base, the sentiment piece is adhered to the base layer, and then I added three of the smaller adhesive backed sequins:

fullsizeoutput_2e09

The inside sentiment is on Whisper White cardstock, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”, in Cherry Cobbler, Garden Green, and Daffodil Delight inks:

If you don’t have the embossing folder or the background stamp, you can omit them or use what you have on hand. I hope you enjoy these easy alternatives and would love to see what you create with your Paper Pumpkin!

To You & Yours-Paper Pumpkin Alternative

Hello and welcome to today’s cards, which are two alternative ideas for the November 2018 Paper Pumpkin, To You & Yours. I will first admit that I suspend my subscription from time to time, it just depends on if I feel I have enough time to spend playing and creating. I totally forgot to suspend November’s, I really didn’t think I was going to have the time; however, I am so glad I did forget! This month’s kit makes 10 super cute cards, but we all know we love to see the alternatives! These first two alternatives came to mind right away, so let’s get started!

For the card on the left, you will need the Cherry Cobbler and gold plaid base and one of the self-adhesive circles from the kit. Additionally, I heat embossed this deer from the Dashing Deer stamp set in Gold Emboss Powder, cut out the flourishing corner dies in Gold Foil, and used my Dark Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Blends on one of the 4mm Clear Rhinestone Jewels:

fullsizeoutput_2db0

To assemble, place the self-adhesive circle die cut in the middle, adhere the embossed deer on top, adhere the gold flourish pieces in opposite corners, and then adhere the colored rhinestone on the deer’s nose:

fullsizeoutput_2db3

This is then adhered to the card base from the kit with dimensionals and the inside sentiment stamps from the kit are in Cherry Cobbler and Garden Green inks:

fullsizeoutput_2db6fullsizeoutput_2db9

For the card on the right, start with Cherry Cobbler cardstock, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½”, and score at 4 ¼”:

fullsizeoutput_2dbc

The base layer is Very Vanilla cardstock, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”, and embossed with the Cable Knit Dynamic TIEF:

fullsizeoutput_2dbf

I cut the Very Vanilla and Cherry Cobbler plaid base layer from the kit in half, 2 5/8” x 4”, and then used four of the leaves and the adhesive back sequins. The sentiment is stamped in Cherry Cobbler ink on Very Vanilla cardstock, punched out using the Everyday Label punch, and then punched out another in Gold Foil, cutting it in half to layer behind the sentiment:

fullsizeoutput_2dc5

The gold foil is adhered behind the sentiment, adhere two of the leaves on each end, and then adhere to the plaid base with dimensionals:

fullsizeoutput_2dc8

The embossed base layer is adhered to the card base, I used dimensionals to adhere the plaid layer on top, and added some of the gold sequins for accents:

fullsizeoutput_2dcb

The inside sentiment is on a piece of 4” x 5 ¼” Very Vanilla cardstock, stamped in Cherry Cobbler ink, the leaves are stamped in Garden Green ink, and the stars are stamped in Daffodil Delight ink:

fullsizeoutput_2dce

Aren’t these fun and easy alternatives for the November 2018 Paper Pumpkin?? For the second card, you can easily make two of these at the same time! I can’t wait to create more alternatives with this kit!!

Christmas Holiday Blog Hop!

fullsizeoutput_2da5

Hello and welcome to the Stamp It Group’s Thanksgiving Theme Blog Hop! My name is Christina Miller, I’m an independent Stampin’ Up! demonstrator located in Norfolk, Virginia, and you are visiting my blog, Christina’s Creative Corner! Whether this is your first stop on the blog hop or you have hopped on over from another site, thank you for letting me share my creation today! So, let’s get started!

When I sat down to figure out what I was going to create for this blog hop, I decided to use the Tags & Tidings stamp set from the Tags & Tidings Bundle. I originally missed this bundle when the Holiday Catalog came out, but I’m so glad I purchased it! Every year I make Christmas Tags and send them to family and this bundle makes it that much easier! One stamp and one thinlit die and you get 16 tags! This is a fun and easy way to use up your DSP and I always have leftover Christmas DSP after I have made my cards. My original idea was going to incorporate the Joyous Noel Specialty DSP, but since that is no longer available, I still wanted to create with the Tranquil Tide and Merry Merlot color combo. The sentiments used are from the November 2018 Paper Pumpkin, To You & Yours, which are super cute and perfect for this card!

The card base is Tranquil Tide cardstock, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½”, and scored at 4 ¼”:

fullsizeoutput_2d93

The base layer is Whisper White cardstock, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”. I used my Stamparatus to stamp the Tags & Tidings stamp in Merry Merlot ink. This was very helpful to ensure that all the images where inked and stamped onto the cardstock. I also used my Tranquil Tide Stampin’ Write Marker to color in some of the little details:

fullsizeoutput_2d96

For the front of the card sentiment, I used the biggest Stitched Label Framelit to cut out a piece of the Tranquil Tide Glimmer Paper from the Joyous Noel 6” x 6” Glimmer Paper, cut at 6” piece of the Merry Merlot & Copper Reversible Ribbon and flag the ends with paper snips, the sentiment is heat embossed in Copper Emboss Powder on a 1” piece of Whisper White cardstock with the ends punched with the Banner Triple Punch:

fullsizeoutput_2d99

To complete this piece, I used glue dots to adhere the ribbon folded in half and then used liquid glue to adhere the ribbon to the glimmer paper. The sentiment is adhered with dimensionals across the middle:

fullsizeoutput_2d9c

The base layer is adhered to the card base and then the sentiment piece is adhered with dimensionals:

fullsizeoutput_2daa

The inside sentiment is on a piece of 4” x 5 ¼” Whisper White cardstock and heat embossed in Copper Emboss powder. I wanted to add a little something extra for the inside, so I used the tree framelit from In the Woods Framelits on a piece of Whisper White cardstock and then sponged some Tranquil Tide ink on with a sponge dauber. I adhered this with mini dimensionals, used the ground cover stamp from the Winter Woods stamp set in Tranquil Tide ink and then used a little bit of Embossing Paste, which mixed with the ink and makes it look like there is “snow” under the tree:

fullsizeoutput_2d9ffullsizeoutput_2da2

What do you think?? The Tags & Tidings Bundle really is a versatile set! If you missed out on the November 2018 Paper Pumpkin, you can easily substitute for any sentiment you already have.

Sneak peak of Butterfly Gala from the 2019 Occasions Catalog!

Hello and welcome to today’s card, which is a sneak peak of the Gingham Gala Suite from the upcoming 2019 Occasions Catalog! For those of us that attended Onstage in Orlando, we were actually able to preorder certain products from the 2019 Occasion and Sale-A-Bration catalogs and I could not wait to order the Butterfly Gala Bundle:

fullsizeoutput_2d88

There are actually two new bundles coming from the Occasions Catalog featuring butterflies! I am so excited because I have been waiting for Stampin’ Up! to bring back either a punch or dies, so if you are like me, you won’t be disappointed. What drew me to the Butterfly Gala stamp set was the details on the butterflies because there are so many creative ways you can use this set, whether you color with. Stampin’ Blends, Watercolor Pencils, Stampin’ Write Markers, Brusho, or no coloring at all (which is what I did). Then you add in a coordinating punch, this was a must on my first purchase list! So when I sat down to create this card, I really wanted to show you how beautifully detailed these stamps are:

fullsizeoutput_2d6a

To create this card, first start with a piece of Thick Whisper White cardstock for the card base, cut at 4 ¼” x 11”, and scored at 5 ½:

fullsizeoutput_2d64

For the base layer, I used a piece of the Gingham Gala 6” x 6” DSP in Grapefruit Grove, cut one side at 1 ½”x 6”, and then cut the remaining piece at 3” along the 6” side. This will give you two pieces at 3” x 4 ½” and one piece at 1 ½” x 6”, sooo you can make two cards at once! I wanted to also show you both sides of the new DSP, one side has the bigger check and the other side has the smaller check:

fullsizeoutput_2d67

If you notice, the stamp set comes with four butterfly designs and these are the three that I am using:

fullsizeoutput_2d6d

On a piece of scrap Whisper White cardstock, I stamped the butterfly image in Memento ink. I then created a template with the coordinating punch so I could stamp the body in the correct spot (or close to it) for when I punched the images out. Using the Stamparatus for the process is VERY helpful:

fullsizeoutput_2d70fullsizeoutput_2d73

I next stamped the sentiment on a piece of Whisper White cardstock in Memento ink, punched it out with the Pretty Label Punch, punched out another piece from the Silver Foil Sheet, and then cut that in half to layer behind the sentiment:

fullsizeoutput_2d76fullsizeoutput_2d79

I adhered the 3” x 4 ½” piece of DSP to the card base, tied a piece of Grapefruit Grove Grosgrain ribbon in a bow, adhered the sentiment with dimensionals, and then adhered two small and two large butterflies with mini dimensionals to finish the card front:

The inside sentiment is stamped in Grapefruit Grove ink and then I adhered the two remaining butterflies with mini dimensionals:

fullsizeoutput_2d85

What do you think?? I just love the simplicity of this card, but it looks stunning with the Grapefruit Grove for the “pop of color”!! I pretty much ordered everything from this suite and there is also coordinating DSP and wood elements that you can earn from the Sale-A-Bration catalog with a qualifying purchase! Yay for Butterflies!! lol

Fun and easy Birthday card!

Hello and welcome to today’s card, which is a fun and easy birthday card made with the Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set and the Celebrate You Thinlits Dies. In case you have overlooked the Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set, it also coordinates with the Balloon Bouquet Punch, the Classic Label Punch, and the Happy Birthday Thinlits Dies! Having so many options with a stamp set makes it super easy to create with!

Before I created this card, I first started with the Brights 6” x 6” DSP, decided to use the Melon Mambo striped paper, chose my color combination, and went from there!

You will start with a card base in Smoky Slate cardstock, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½”, and scored at 4 ¼”:

fullsizeoutput_2caa

The base layer is Powder Pink cardstock, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”, and embossed with the Striped Scallops TIEF:

fullsizeoutput_2cad

For the front of the card, you will first cut 1 ½” piece from the 6” x 6” DSP (it will be 1 ½” x 6”) and then cut the remaining 4 ½” x 6 at 3”, so you will then have to pieces measuring 3” x 4 ½”. You will use a piece of Silver Foil Sheet and Smokey Slate cardstock for the Celebrate Thinlit and use the Fine Tip Glue Pen to adhere the two pieces together, sliding it slightly so the Smokey Slate cardstock is showing underneath. For the balloons, I used the balloon stamp from the set to stamp in Smokey Slate and Powder Pink inks on a piece of Whisper White cardstock and punched out. The bigger balloon is punched out of a piece of Melon Mambo cardstock. The sentiment is stamped in Smokey Slate and Melon Mambo inks on Whisper White cardstock and then punched out with the Classic Label Punch. For the balloon ribbon, I used some Silver and Whisper White Baker’s Twine that I tied in a knot:

fullsizeoutput_2cb0

To assemble the front, I adhered the DSP to the embossed base layer and then adhered to the card base. I cut Mini Dimensionals in half to adhere the Celebrate on the DSP and then used Dimensionals for the balloons and sentiments:

fullsizeoutput_2cb3

The inside sentiment is stamped in Smoky Slate ink and the flowers are stamped in Powder Pink, Melon Mambo, and Granny Apple Green inks. I cut the 1 ½” piece of DSP in half (¾” x 6”), adhered along the bottom, and then trimmed the excess off:

fullsizeoutput_2cb6

Wasn’t that fun and easy?? I just love it when a seemingly “complicated” card is easy to make and with these instructions you can make two cards at once!

Simply Thankful

Hello and welcome to today’s card, which is a stunning card using the Stampin’ Blends and the Country Home stamp set! Now, I cannot take total credit for this as the coloring of the can was CASE’d from a post I saw on Facebook and now I cannot for the life of me find this post and give proper credit! This is one of the things I love about being a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator, all the brilliant ideas and inspiration that we share with each other! Now I can share this with you!

If you are need for a last-minute Thanksgiving card or even a thank you card, this may be what you are looking for, so let’s get started on this easy card!

The card base is Early Espresso cardstock, cut at 4 ¼” x 11” and scored at 5 ½”:

fullsizeoutput_2cc0

The base layer is a combination of a 2 ½” x 5 ¼” DSP design from Country Lane and a 2” x 5 ¼” piece of Copper Foil Sheet that is embossed with the Tin Tile DTIEF. I made the embossed Copper Foil Sheet darker by using a Sponge Dauber with black ink and then adhered the two pieces together making it a 4” x 5 ¼” layer:

fullsizeoutput_2cc3fullsizeoutput_2cc6fullsizeoutput_2cb9

For the flowers and can, I cut a piece of Thick Very Vanilla cardstock at 4” x 2 ½” and stamped the images in Memento Ink. To create the “bronze” look to the can, I used a combination of Light Pumpkin Pie, Dark Pineapple Punch, Light and Dark Soft Suede Stampin’ Blends Markers. There’s no real way to do this, I just started with Dark Pineapple Punch in the middle, colored with Light Pumpkin Pie around, Dark Soft Suede along the edges and blended Light Soft Suede. I kept playing until I achieved the result I was looking for. The flowers were colored in using the Light and Dark Soft Suede, Light and Dark Old Olive, Dark Mango Melody, and Dark Cajun Craze Stampin’ Blends Markers. I then used the Detailed Trio Punch to round two of the opposite end corners and tied a piece of Copper Trim around the bottom:

fullsizeoutput_2cc9

TIP-I HIGHLY recommend using thick cardstock AND letting the layers dry. I have an example below of using regular cardstock and not letting the layers dry and well, they bled outside the lines! Lol

fullsizeoutput_2cbd

The base layer is adhered to the card base and then the stamped image is adhered on top with dimensionals:

fullsizeoutput_2cccfullsizeoutput_2ccf

For the inside, the sentiment is heat embossed with Copper Emboss Powder and then two of the corners are rounded with the Detailed Trio Punch on opposite corners to match the front of the card:

fullsizeoutput_2cd2

Wasn’t that easy?? The only thing that was really time consuming was the coloring on regular cardstock only to have it bleed and then start over again. But hey, we live and learn and that’s all about the card making adventure!
