Hello and welcome to today’s card, which was created by starting with the idea of creating a “basket” with cardstock and the Basket Weave Dynamic TIEF. Then when you add embossed leaves, sponging, and some copper you get a fun fall themed card! If you like to emboss with your dies, but haven’t yet purchased the Big Shot Embossing Mats, I highly recommend you add them to your next purchase! One of the fun elements these embossing mats add is a raised texture to your embossed image. It’s kind of like turning your embossing dies into an embossing folder!
To create this card, the card base is Cajun Craze cardstock, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½”, and scored at 4 ¼”:
The base layer is Crumb Cake cardstock, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”, and embossed with the Pinewood Planks Dynamic TIEF. Before I embossed the cardstock, I first took my Early Espresso stamp pad and inked up the embossing folder, which gives your embossed image some depth with the color:
To create the basket, I used a 2 ½” x 2 ½” piece of Crumb Cake cardstock, used the corner rounder punch from the Detailed Trio punch on two of the corners, embossed with the Basket Weave folder and then sponged on some Crumb Cake ink. For the handles, I used a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock and the largest and third largest ovals from the Layering Ovals Framelits, used sticky notes to keep them in place, embossed the cutout piece with the Basket Weave folder, sponged some Crumb Cake ink, and then adhered to the basket bottom with glue dots. For the accents, I adhered two of the larger copper sequins from the Metallic Sequin Assortment with the Fine Tip Glue Pen, and tied a piece of Copper Trim around the middle into a bow:
To create the leaves, I used the Nature’s Roots Framelits Dies with Crumb Cake, Mango Melody, and Cajun Craze cardstock. These are first cut out, embossed, and then sponged with ink. The smaller leaves are heat embossed with Copper Embossing Powder on Vellum Cardstock and then cut out with the coordinating die:
I arranged and adhered the three large and two of the copper leaves “inside” the basket with glue dots, adhered the small leaf with a glue dot to make it look like it was falling out of the basket:
The base layer is adhered to the card base and then the basket is adhered with dimensionals. The last two leaves are adhered together with a glue dot and then adhered to the base layer with a dimensional:
The inside of the card is a piece of 4” x 5 ¼” Whisper White cardstock and I stamped the leaves down the side and bottom in Mango Melody, Cajun Craze, and Crumb Cake inks:
