Thanksgiving Cards with Country Lane Suite

Hello and welcome to today’s cards, which are part one of my three-part Thanksgiving cards made with the Country Lane Suite! With Thanksgiving right around the corner, going to Orlando for OnStage, and then family coming right after that, it was time to get on those cards! I chose the Country Lane Suite from the 2018 Holiday Catalog for my Thanksgiving cards this year, but where to start?? Sometimes when Designer Series Paper is a little “busy” it can be overwhelming and you may not use that side of the paper, but I wanted to challenge myself. Recently I watched a FaceBook video from Ronda Wade (8 cards in about 20 minutes, her page is @trainingwithrondawade) and she showed how to make 8 cards from one sheet of Designer Series Paper and I loved the simplicity of the cuts! Instead of taking my favorite design from the Country Lane DSP, I took a sheet that I probably would not use and cut it right up, which inspired me to make my 8 cards that I’m sharing with you.

You will start with a 12” x 12” sheet of DSP and cut it into three 4” strips. The first strip you will cut two pieces to 5 ¼” and save the scrap leftover. The second strip you will cut two pieces to 3”, one piece to 4”, and save the scrap leftover. The third strip you will cut one piece to 5 ¼”, one piece to 2”, and then save the leftover piece for accents:

fullsizeoutput_2c5d

You will also need four sheets of coordinating cardstock, so I used one sheet of Blackberry Bliss, one sheet of Thick Whisper White, and two sheets of Mint Macaron. The sheet of Blackberry Bliss and Thick Whisper White cardstocks were cut into two pieces measuring 5 ½” x 8 ½”, scored at 4 ¼”, and the Mint Macron sheets were cut into two pieces measuring 4 ½”x 11”, scored at 5 ½”.

For the card on the left, I used Blackberry Bliss cardstock for the card base, one sheet of DSP cut at 4” x 5 ¼” for the base layer:

fullsizeoutput_2c11

For the front of the card I stamped the sentiment from the Country Home stamp set in Blackberry Bliss ink on Whisper White cardstock and cut out with the second largest Stitched Shapes oval, I cut a piece of the Chicken Wire Element in half, used the biggest Stitched Labels Framelit to cut out in Crushed Curry cardstock, and you will need enough Braided Linen Thread to tie around the front panel into a bow:

fullsizeoutput_2c0e

To assemble the front, place a small amount of adhesive on the DSP to adhere the Chicken Wire Element, adhere the layered sentiment on top with dimensionals, and tie the linen trim around into a bow:

fullsizeoutput_2c14fullsizeoutput_2c18

The inside sentiment is on a piece of 4” x 5 ¼” Whisper White cardstock, the sentiment is stamped in Blackberry Bliss ink, and I cut the scrap leftover in half (this will give you two piece of ¾” x 4”) and adhered along the bottom:

fullsizeoutput_2c1b

For the card on the right, I adhered the leftover scrap for accents (measures 4” x 4 ¾”) to the Mint Macaron card base:

fullsizeoutput_2c48

The sentiment is stamped in Blackberry Bliss ink on Whisper White cardstock and cut out with the second largest Stitched Shapes square, adhered two of the Leaf Trinkets with glue dots, and embossed a 1 ¾” x 4” piece of Galvanized Metallic Paper with the Tin Tile Dynamic TIEF and used a sponge dauber with Early Espresso ink over it, which gave it a slight purple/pink sheen:

fullsizeoutput_2c4b

The embossed paper is adhered to the card base and then the sentiment is adhered with dimensionals:
fullsizeoutput_2c4e

The inside sentiment is on a piece of 4” x 5 ¼” Whisper White cardstock and the sentiment and shape are stamped in Blackberry Bliss ink:

fullsizeoutput_2c51

So, I made two of the card on the left and one on the right, which gave me 3 cards so far. On my next post I will show you the next two card that I made from this one sheet of DSP, so stay tuned!!

Baby Bear and Buffalo Check!

Hello and welcome to today’s card, which is a cute baby card made using the Baby Bear stamp set and Buffalo Check background stamp! While this card is more of a boy theme, I have added a bonus card down at the bottom made with Sweet Little Something (now retired) that is more of a girl theme. Do you struggle with the 2 and 3 Step stamps? I always did until I changed the way I stamped and will share this technique with you as well, even if you use the Stamparatus! Let’s get started!
For the card base, cut a piece of Night of Navy cardstock, 5 ½” x 8 ½”, and score at 4 ¼”:

fullsizeoutput_2bcd

The base layer is Soft Sea Foam cardstock, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”, stamped in Night of Navy ink with the Buffalo Check background stamp, and I used a ruler and my Gray Granite Stampin’ Write Marker to create a “plaid” look:

fullsizeoutput_2bd0

To stamp the bear, I first use the detailed stamp in Gray Granite ink, then I used the “not as detailed” stamp in Sahara Sand ink, and finally used the solid bear stamp, also in Sahara Sand ink. I find that starting with the most detailed stamp makes it easier for me to line up the images. The bear is then cut out:

fullsizeoutput_2bb8fullsizeoutput_2bbbfullsizeoutput_2bbefullsizeoutput_2bc2fullsizeoutput_2bc5

For the front of the card, you will use this design from the Twinkle Twinkle DSP, cutting out with the largest scalloped oval from the Layering Ovals Framelits. The White Sheer Ribbon is colored with the Dark Sea Foam Stampin’ Blends Marker, the sentiment is stamped on a ½” piece of Whisper White cardstock in Night of Navy ink and is layered on a ¾” piece of Twinkle Twinkle DSP, with both ends cut with the Banner Triple Punch:

fullsizeoutput_2bd3

After the ribbon is dry, I tied it into a small bow and adhered it to the bear with a glue dot. Then I adhered the scalloped oval to the base layer, the bear and sentiment are adhered with dimensionals:

This piece is then adhered to the card base:

fullsizeoutput_2bdf

The inside sentiment is on a piece of 4” x 5 ¼” Whisper White cardstock, the is stamped in Night of Navy ink, and then I added some adhesive backed sequins:

fullsizeoutput_2be2

Here is the girl themed card I made with Sweet Little Something, changed the colors used to Gray Granite and Petal Pink:

Now you will have a couple of baby cards on hand! These were both quick and easy cards that when the occasion arises, you will be ready!

Thanksgiving Theme Blog Hop!

fullsizeoutput_2bb4

Hello and welcome to the Stamp It Group’s Thanksgiving Theme Blog Hop! My name is Christina Miller, I’m an independent Stampin’ Up! demonstrator located in Norfolk, Virginia, and you are visiting my blog, Christina’s Creative Corner! Whether this is your first stop on the blog hop or you have hopped on over from another site, thank you for letting me share my creation today! So, let’s get started!

For today’s card, I wanted to create something that the recipient would love to display with their fall décor and I thought a step card with the Country Lane Suite and Winter Woods Bundle would be perfect. If you’ve never created a step card, it is actually very easy and can be used for any occasion.

First, start with a base of 4 ¼” x 11” Early Espresso cardstock and score at 1 ¼”, 2 ½”, 4 ¼”, 6”, and 8 ¼”:

fullsizeoutput_2b8d

You will start folding at the score lines at the 1 ¼” mark, folding up (mountain), next score line will be down (valley), and continuing to the last fold. This is what the end result will look like:

fullsizeoutput_2b90fullsizeoutput_2b93

For the front fold, I cut the striped design from the Country Lane DSP to 1” x 4”. For the second fold, I cut the braided design from the Country Land DSP to 3” x 4” and used the framelit from the In the Woods Framelits Dies to create the “hills” by cutting the paper twice to layer them:

fullsizeoutput_2b96

The additional elements are a piece of Chicken Wire Elements, cut at 1” x 4” (cutting with scissors is easiest), use the two tree framelits from In the Woods to cut out in Early Espresso cardstock, stamp the sentiment on a ½” Whisper White cardstock in Early Espresso ink, punch one end with the Banner Triple Punch, tie a piece of the Braided Linen Trim in a bow and adhere with a glue dot, and the flower pot is stamped in Memento ink (use your Stamparatus!) on Whisper White cardstock, cut out, colored with Basic Gray, Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, and Early Espresso Watercolor Pencils, blend with an Aqua Painter, and then add Wink of Stella to the cotton buds:

fullsizeoutput_2b99

The card base is Early Espresso cardstock, cut at 4 ¼” x 5 1/8” and a piece of 4” x 4 7/8” Whisper White cardstock is layered on top. I created the scene by stamping the tree stamp from the Winter Woods stamp set in Early Espresso ink, stamped the small ground cover stamp along the bottom of the trees in Early Espresso ink, and then used Sponge Daubers with Balmy Blue, Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze, and Old Olive inks for the sun, sky, and ground:

fullsizeoutput_2b9c

To start putting the card together, I started with the front fold, adhered the DSP to the base, used multipurpose glue to adhere the flower pot and one end of the Chicken Wire Element to the DSP, and then mini dimensionals for the sentiment to help adhere the other end of the Chicken Wire Element:

fullsizeoutput_2b9f

For the middle fold, I adhered the DSP together to create the hill and then adhered the die cut trees:

fullsizeoutput_2ba2

For the back fold, I adhered the Whisper White cardstock to the Early Espresso cardstock base, and then used adhesive on the back fold and placed the card base just above the bottom crease:

fullsizeoutput_2ba5

Here is what it looks like folded together, I used a clear block to weight it down:

fullsizeoutput_2ba8

For the back, I cut a piece of 2 ½” x 4” Whisper White cardstock for the sentiment, which is stamped in Crushed Curry ink and sponged Cajun Craze and Old Olive inks with a Sponge Dauber:

fullsizeoutput_2babfullsizeoutput_2bae

Here are the dimensions again, especially if you just want to layer the folds:

Step card: cut at 4 ¼” x 11” and score at 1 ¼”, 2 ½”, 4 ¼”, 6”, and 8 ¼”

Front fold layers: 1” x 4” and ¾” x 3 ¾”

Second fold layers: 1 ½” x 4” and 1 ¼” x 3 ¾”

Card base: 4 ¼” x 5 1/8” and 4” x 4 7/8”

Sentiment for the back: 2 ½” x 4”

One last Halloween card for the road!

Hello and welcome to today’s card, which is one last Halloween card to share with you! As I was gathering my Halloween cards together for mailing, I discovered I needed a few more and came up with this cute card that is easy for making multiples of and using up Designer Series Paper. Did you notice the little googly eyes? I bought these years ago at a craft store and completely forgot about them, so I dug them out and thought these would be a cute little add-on to the card. Who doesn’t love googly eyes on a card?? Lol

To create this card, start with the card base in Basic Black cardstock, cut at 4 ¼” x 11”, and scored at 5 ½”:

fullsizeoutput_2b55

The next two layers are Whisper White cardstock, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”, and this design from the Toil & Trouble DSP, cut at 3 ¾”x 5”:

fullsizeoutput_2b58

The final two layers are Highland Heather cardstock, cut at 3 ¼” x 3 ¼”, and this design from the Toil & Trouble DSP, cut at 3” x 3”:

fullsizeoutput_2b5b

For the front of the card sentiment, you will need some Whisper White cardstock, Black Foil Sheet, Gray Granite Textured Weave Ribbon, and googly eyes:

fullsizeoutput_2b5e

The sentiment is from the Warm Hearted stamp set, stamped in Highland Heather and Black inks (Tip-this is a two-step stamp and I find it easier to first stamp the shadow stamp (in black) and then the other (in highland heather). Then I stamped the background stamp in Lemon Lime Twist ink twice so it looked like it was going around the sentiment. This is cut out with the 5thlargest circle from the Layering Circles Framelits, then use the 4thlargest scalloped circle from the Layering Circles to cut out the Black Foil Sheet. The googly eyes are adhered to the o’s of the boo and then layered to the scalloped circle:

fullsizeoutput_2b6afullsizeoutput_2b6d

I cut a small piece of ribbon, flagged the ends, folded in half, and then adhered to the back of the layered circles:

fullsizeoutput_2b70fullsizeoutput_2b73

The first two layers of cardstock and DSP are adhered to the card base, then the next two layers are adhered together, and then adhered along the righthand side of the DSP. Finally, the front sentiment is adhered using dimensionals:

For the inside sentiment, cut a piece of 4” x 5 ¼” Whisper White cardstock, use the sentiment from Spooky Sweets stamp set in Highland Heather ink, the skulls from Warm Hearted are stamped in Black and Lemon Lime Twist ink, and the background stamp is stamped in Highland Heather ink. While cutting the DSP, I had a ½” strip left, so I trimmed it down to 4” and adhered to the bottom:

fullsizeoutput_2b7f

Wasn’t that quick and easy?? I was able to make for of these cards to add to my card collection! Another tip that I thought of after the fact, instead of using a scrap of Whisper White cardstock for the front sentiment, you could easily use the Whisper White base layer since the DSP and other cardstock will cover this!

Soft and Subtle with Abstract Impressions

Hello and welcome to today’s card, which is a soft and subtle birthday card using the Springtime Impressions Thinlits Dies! The Fall weather is finally sticking around here in Coastal Virginia, but I thought I’d change things up and create a fun and easy birthday card using soft and subtle colors. I wasn’t sure what I wanted to make, so I sat down with my pack of Brights 6” x 6” Designer Series Paper, decided on Coastal Cabana, and then set out to figure out what colors would coordinate with Coastal Cabana, choosing Petal Pink and So Saffron. Now that I had my color combo, I thought that the butterfly and flower thinlits from the Springtime Impressions Thinlit Dies would work perfectly to create this birthday card!

The card base is So Saffron cardstock, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½”, and scored at 4 ¼”:

fullsizeoutput_2ad2

The base layer is Petal Pink cardstock, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”, and embossed using the Tufted Dynamic TIEF:

fullsizeoutput_2ad6

The next layer is this Coastal Cabana design from the Brights 6” x 6” DSP, cut to 3” x 3”:

fullsizeoutput_2ad9

For the front elements, I used a piece of Champagne Foil Sheet to cut the butterfly, used the flower thinlit to cut a flower from Petal Pink, So Saffron, and Coastal Cabana cardstock, and stamped the sentiment from Picture Perfect Birthday in So Saffron ink on a piece of Whisper White cardstock and punched out with the Classic Label Punch:

fullsizeoutput_2adc

To assemble the front, adhere the 3” x 3” DSP to the embossed cardstock and adhere the foil butterfly with mini dimensionals:

fullsizeoutput_2adf

Adhere the flowers with the Fine Tip Glue Pen, add a Clear Rhinestone Jewel to the middle (I used the 4mm), and then adhere the sentiment with mini dimensionals:

fullsizeoutput_2ae2

This piece is then adhered to the card base with dimensionals:

fullsizeoutput_2ae5

For the inside, I chose the sentiment from the Special Celebrations stamp set in So Saffron ink on a piece of 4” x 5 ¼” Whisper White cardstock. The flowers in the corner are from the Abstract Impressions stamp set, that I sponged So Saffron on the first step of the flower and then sponged Petal Pink and Coastal Cabana ink on the second step of the flower with Sponge Daubers. I chose to sponge the color onto the stamp instead of stamping directly onto the stamp pad because I felt sponging gave it a much softer look:

fullsizeoutput_2ae8

Here are the multiples I made, one of them I cut out the butterfly in Black Foil just to see what that would look like versus the foil. Which one do you like??

Creating a fall wreath with Winter Woods

Hello and welcome to today’s card, which was inspired from the card examples in the 2018 Holiday Catalog for the Winter Woods Bundle! I really wanted to CASE the trees and create my own version of a fall wreath, which is pretty easy to do. In case you haven’t noticed, some of the dies sets now come with multiple dies of some of the smaller pieces, which makes it so much easier if you have several pieces to cut, just like this wreath!

To create this card, start with Garden Green cardstock, cut at 4 ¼” x 11”, and scored at 5 ½” for the card base:

fullsizeoutput_2a0a

The base layer is a 4” x 5 ¼” piece of Galvanized Metallic Paper, embossed with the Corrugated Dynamic TIEF:

fullsizeoutput_2a0d

To create the wreath, start with a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock and use the largest and third largest circles from the Layer Circles Framelits. I used sticky notes to keep them in place when die cutting:

Next, I used the pine needle leaf from the Winter Woods stamp set and stamped around in Garden Green, Cajun Crazy, and Mango Melody inks:

For the front accents, you will need a piece of Crumb Cake Classic Weave Ribbon tied into a bow, stamp the pinecone stamp on Crumb Cake cardstock in Early Espresso ink, and stamp the pine needle stamp on Garden Green cardstock with Garden Green ink, Cajun Craze cardstock with Cajun Craze ink, and Mango Melody cardstock with Mango Melody ink. These are cut out using the coordinating die from In the Woods Framelits Dies:

fullsizeoutput_2a25

To create the tree trunks, I cut a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock at 3 ½” x 3 ½”, use my Stamparatus to stamp them in Early Espresso ink, and then used a Blender Pen with Whisper White Craft ink to color them in. Tip-I have a designated pen that one end is used only for the craft ink as it will not completely come off. You could also use the White Watercolor Pencil instead of the craft ink:

fullsizeoutput_2a28

The wreath base is adhered to this piece, the die cut leaves are arranged around, then adhere the pinecones with Mini Dimensionals and use a Glue Dot for the Crumb Cake bow. After this was put together, I decided to add three Rhinestone Gems that I colored with Dark Cajun Craze Stampin’ Blend:

Adhered the embossed base layer to the card base and then adhere the front layer with dimensionals:

fullsizeoutput_2a37fullsizeoutput_2a3a

For the inside, cut a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼”, and stamp the leaves and pinecones along the bottom left corner:

fullsizeoutput_2a3d

Have you ever been inspired by an example found in the catalog? I just loved the white on the tree trunks and was inspired to CASE it! This card may seem a little overwhelming with details, but having multiple dies made this card very easy!
