Just add words

Hello and welcome to today’s card, which is featuring the Tranquil Textures Suite! This suite got lots of attention when I first got it, but it’s slowly been pushed aside and neglected..lol So, I thought I would dust it off and bring it front and center to create today’s card! It also gave me the opportunity to use some of my new Stampin’ Blends colors and to experiment with Vellum!

The card base is Soft Sea Foam, cut at 4 ¼” x 11”, and scored at 5 ½”:

fullsizeoutput_23a2

The base layer is DSP from the Tranquil Textures DSP, cut at 4” x 3 ½”:

fullsizeoutput_23a5

The next layer is Whisper White cardstock, cut at 4” x 3 ¼”. I used the Dark Mint Macaron, Dark Soft Sea Foam, and Light Soft Sea Foam Stampin’ Blends to create the background, using the brush tip end. The edges are “roughed up” by using the blade of a pair of scissors:

fullsizeoutput_23a8

I used the seaweed stamp from Sea of Textures in Mint Macaron ink on a piece of Vellum cardstock and then cut it out with the net from Under the Sea Framelits Dies:

fullsizeoutput_23ab

One of the coral pieces is stamped in Mint Macaron ink on Whisper White cardstock, cut out with the coordinating die, and then the other two are cut out of Grapefruit Grove cardstock. The starfish/sand dollar are cut out of Sahara Sand cardstock and the seagrass is cut out of Vellum cardstock and I sponged Mint Macaron ink with a Sponge Dauber:

fullsizeoutput_23ae

The seaweed is stamped in Soft Sea Foam, Mint Macaron, and Tranquil Tide inks and the textured stamp is in Soft Sea Foam ink with Tranquil Tide ink sponged on with a Sponge Dauber:

fullsizeoutput_23b1

The net and sea grass are adhered with Glue Dots:

fullsizeoutput_23b4

The coral in Grapefruit Grove is adhered with Glue Dots and then the other coral piece and sand dollar are adhered with Mini Dimensionals. I added some Wink of Stella and a few Adhesive-Backed Sequins in Soft Sea Foam:

The background on the card base is the net and textured stamp in Soft Sea Foam ink:

fullsizeoutput_23bd

The DSP is adhered to the card base and then the Whisper White cardstock is adhered with Dimensionals:

fullsizeoutput_23c0

For the inside on Whisper White cardstock, I stamped the seaweed in Mint Macaron ink (1stand 2ndgeneration stamping), the net in Sahara Sand ink, and the textured stamp in Soft Sea Foam ink. I adhered the starfish and sand dollars with Glue Dots and added some Wink of Stella:

Broadway Bound One Sheet Wonder-Part 3

Hello and welcome to today’s cards, which are another “one sheet wonder” from a 12” x 12” Broadway Bound Specialty Designer Series Paper! If you’ve been following along, the previous two posts feature cards made from layouts on Pinterest, but today I made my own layout. I tried looking for something that had a combination of vertical and horizontal cuts, along with not very many little cuts, but didn’t find one that I liked, so I figured I would give it a try! It really wasn’t that difficult and I was able to make 8 cards out it!

Below is a picture of the sheet of DSP that I used and the template that I made. Wondering what the template is? Would you believe that it is the cardboard that is from the Foil Sheets?! These are slightly bigger than 12” x 12”, so I mark the cardboard when making the measurements. This can also be cut down to make smaller templates!

Here is a close-up of each card, inside and out, with a brief description:

These are then cut out with the 1” and 1 ½” Circle Punches and layered on Lemon Lime Twist, Basic Black, and Gray Granite cardstock cut out using the 1 ¼” and 1 ¾” Circle Punches

The embellishments used on the card front are the Candle Embellishments in silver, Mint Macaron and Pearl White Adhesive-Backed Sequins, and Rhinestone Basic Jewels that I colored with the Dark Lovely Lipstick Stampin’ Blends

Broadway Bound One Sheet Wonder-Part 2

Hello and welcome to today’s cards, which are another “one sheet wonder” from a 12” x 12” Broadway Bound Specialty Designer Series Paper! On Monday I shared one template that made 7 cards from a single sheet of DSP and today I am sharing another template that I was able to make 8 cards and 1 invitation! I chose this particular design of paper because I wanted to see what other colors that I could use to make these, aside from the coordinating Lemon Lime Twist and Lovely Lipstick.

Today’s template is courtesy of Elizabeth Jeanne Thatcher that I found on Pinterest! Below is the DSP and the template for cutting:

fullsizeoutput_2332fullsizeoutput_2335

fullsizeoutput_233efullsizeoutput_2341

This is an invitation, the base is Blueberry Bushel cardstock, 4 ¼” x 5 ¾”

The “invitation” is on a 3 ½” x 4 ¾” piece of Whisper White cardstock, stamped in Blueberry Bushel ink with the Balloon Celebrations and Pick a Pennant stamp sets

I punched out two of the larger balloons in Gold Foil with the Balloon Banquet Punch, heat embossed in Black Embossing Powder on one balloon “Birthday” and “Party” from the Tabs for Everything Stamp set, and then then adhered the balloons to the cardstock to create a tab pull for the cardstock

The front sentiment is using the Pick a Pennant stamp set, the Playful Pennants Framelits Dies, and heat embossed Gold Embossing Powder

Broadway Bound One Sheet Wonder!

Hello and welcome to today’s cards, which are made from a single sheet of Broadway Bound Specialty Designer Series Paper! What makes it a specialty paper? The Gold Foil!! So, for each sheet of this DSP, one side is a regular design and the other has gold foil in the design!! I don’t know about you, but I make and send birthday cards all year long to family and friends, so with the new catalog launch it was time to get a new birthday stamp set and designer paper. I chose the Picture Perfect Birthday stamp set and Broadway Bound DSP and think they work together great! Yes, I know that there is a coordinating stamp and dies for the DSP, but I wanted something different!

So as I set out to create some birthday cards, I thought I would try something different, decided on “one sheet wonder”, went on Pinterest, and found this particular layout from Traci Cornelius. I’m not gonna lie, when started cutting the DSP I almost started panicking! Was I doing this right? Is the paper facing the right way? How am I going to make cards out of all these pieces?? What was I thinking?? After taking a deep, cleansing breath and confirming the DSP was facing the right way (we’ve all done it, cut the DSP design in the wrong direction), I continued cutting the DSP. Here is the layout and I also made a template on a leftover piece of cardboard:

The inside sentiment is stamped in Lovely Lipstick, Lemon Lime Twist, and Gray Granite inks

Can you believe ONE sheet of DSP made 7 cards?? Since 99.5% of my cards are mailed, I tried to not make them too elaborate that you couldn’t just stick them in an envelope! So, just cutting some DSP and getting out of your “comfort zone of creativity” can be fun! Stay tuned for my next blog post, I am going to find another 12” x 12” one sheet wonder design for more birthday cards!!

Sunset Sailing

Hello and welcome to today’s card, which is another inspiration from a local paint pub! When I saw this painting, I just knew I wanted to CASE it! Starting was a bit challenging, my first attempt on watercolor paper and watercolor pencils was a little scary and my second attempt on cardstock with a little stamping and using Blender Pens to color the sky and water was a little closer and not quite as scary (lol). So, for my third and final try, I used Sponge Daubers for the coloring and turned out pretty darn close!!

First, start with a piece of Whisper White cardstock, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”:

fullsizeoutput_22de

I used the mountain stamp from the Waterfront stamp set and stamped them in Blueberry Bushel in, about in the middle of the paper. Then I used a Sponge Dauber with black ink (you can use whatever you have, but Memento and StazOn are the only two black ink pads we currently sell, so Memento would be best) to create the bank along the bottom:

fullsizeoutput_22e1

I used Sponge Daubers with Balmy Blue ink around the mountains and then with Petal Pink ink for the sky and the water:

fullsizeoutput_22e4

Then I added Poppy Parade ink and Melon Mambo ink with Sponge Daubers for the sky and water:

fullsizeoutput_22e7

I used the small sea grass stamp from the High Tide stamp set along the water bank and then used the triple tree stamp from the Waterfront stamp set, using a Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker to color one of the tree’s, stamping it twice to create a tall tree, and then using the fine tip to color the rest of the tree trunk:

fullsizeoutput_22ea

For in front of the mountains, I used the small little line stamp from High Tide and stamped in Balmy Blue and Blueberry Bushel inks. The sun is from the Waterfront stamp set in Craft Whisper White ink. The reflection is the wave stamp from High Tide, which I used just the middle of the stamp in Craft Whisper White ink. I used a scrap piece of Basic Black cardstock to cut out the sailboat from Lakeside Framelits Dies :

fullsizeoutput_22edfullsizeoutput_22f6

The card base is Balmy Blue cardstock, cut at 4 ¼” x 11”, and scored at 5 ½”:

fullsizeoutput_22f0

The base layer is from the Wood Textures DSP, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”:

fullsizeoutput_22f3

The base layer and the card front are adhered together and then adhered to the base layer:

fullsizeoutput_22fc

The inside sentiment is from Colorful Seasons stamp set in Balmy Blue ink, on a piece of Whisper White cardstock, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”. Since I had a piece of ¾” x 4” DSP, I adhered that along the bottom:

fullsizeoutput_22f9fullsizeoutput_22ff

So, what do you think?? I love how this third version came out and getting creative with stamps to create my version of this painting! So, if you are every feeling bummed that what you are trying to create doesn’t quite look right, then try, try again! Here is the painting, courtesy of Pinot’s Palette:

A sunflower for you

Hello and welcome to today’s card, which was inspired by combining a couple of classes offered at local paint bars, wood sign and mason jar painting! I set out to try and create a sunflower using framelit dies and the leaves from Nature’s Root Framelits Dies worked perfectly! Add some embossing, some sponging, Wink of Stella, and TA-DA!!

To create the sunflower center, use the 2” Circle Punch on a scrap piece of Early Espresso cardstock and then emboss using the Softly Falling TIEF:

fullsizeoutput_2298

To create the sunflower leaves, first cut out the leaves using the leaf framelits from the Nature’s Roots Framelits Dies, the small leaf on Daffodil Delight cardstock and the large leaf on Crushed Curry cardstock. Next, use the coordinating embossing die with the Big Shot Embossing Mats, use some washi tape to keep the paper and die in place. I originally cut and embossed 9 pieces of each color, but only used 8:

fullsizeoutput_229b

I adhered the small leaf on top of the large leaf with glue dots and curled the tip of the leaf:

fullsizeoutput_229e

To create the sunflower, I first adhered two of the leaves together at the ends with glue dots and then repeated again going across. The remaining leaves are adhered on top, in between the bottom leaves, with glue dots. Then use Mini Dimensionals on the leaves and place the Early Espresso piece on top:

To create the wood panel, first cut a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”, and then embossed with the Pinewood Planks Dynamic TIEF that is first inked with the Gray Granite stamp pad:

fullsizeoutput_22b0

I added some Mossy Meadow and Early Espresso ink with Stampin’ Sponges:

fullsizeoutput_22b3

The card base is Mossy Meadow cardstock, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½”, and scored at 4 ¼”:

fullsizeoutput_22b6

To create the sunflower stem, I used some Mossy Meadow cardstock and the branch framelit from the Seasonal Layers Thinlits Dies:

fullsizeoutput_22b9

Adhere the embossed base layer to the card base and then adhere the sunflower on top, I used liquid glue. I then used the Wink of Stella pen to give the sunflower middle some sparkle:

fullsizeoutput_22bcfullsizeoutput_22bf

To finish the card front, I cut a piece of Daffodil Delight Double Stitched Ribbon and adhered with glue dots. The sentiment is from the Rooted in Nature stamp set, heat embossed in Gold Embossing Powder on a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock, cut out with the smallest scalloped square from the Layering Square Framelits, and adhered with a dimensional:

fullsizeoutput_22c2

The inside sentiment is on a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”, from the Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set, and heat embossed in Gold Embossing Powder. I created the sunflower in the corner by using the larger leaf stamp from Rooted in Nature in Crushed Curry ink, colored in the leaves with Light Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends pen, and used a Sponge Dauber with Early Espresso ink for the middle:

fullsizeoutput_22c5fullsizeoutput_22c8

What do you think?? I love how this turned out and I will be sending this to my mother, who loves sunflowers, and has been under the weather lately! Below is my finished card, I still have some Glitter and Clear Epoxy Shapes (from the 2018 Occasions Catalog) and used those to create a dewy look. You can also create this using the Fine Tip Glue Pen.

What inspires you?

Hello and welcome to today’s card, which was inspired by a local paint bar!  I follow a few places here in Hampton Roads on Facebook and have gone to a few paint nights myself, lots of fun and no experience necessary, so when I saw one particular post, I thought of Magical Mermaid! Below is the picture that inspired me and then how I created my own version:

I first started with a piece of Watercolor Paper, cut at 3 ½” x 4 ¾”:

To start creating the water, I used the large brush tip Aqua Painter and Night of Navy ink:

Next, I added Blueberry Bushel, Balmy Blue, and Fresh Fig inks with the Aqua Painter:

Then went back over with some brush strokes of Night of Navy ink:

For some added effect, I used some Whisper White Craft ink with the Aqua Painter and then one of the stamps from Artisan Textures:

The small silhouette mermaid from Magical Mermaid is stamped in Memento ink:

The card base is Fresh Fig cardstock, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½”, and scored at 4 ¼”:

On a scrap piece of Watercolor Paper, I used the Aqua Painter and colored two spots with Crumb Cake ink and one spot with Fresh Fig ink. Then I used the coral and sand dollar framelits from the Under the Sea Framelits Dies to cut out the Watercolor Paper:

The base layer is from the Tranquil Textures DSP, cut at 4” x 5 ¼” and adhered to the card base:

Adhere a piece of the 5/8” Burlap Ribbon to the back of the Watercolor Paper with the ends sticking out and then fray the ends with your fingernails, then adhere to the base layer with dimensionals:

I added some Wink of Stella to the sand dollars, coral, and mermaid, then adhered the starfish (which is from the sand dollar framelit) in each corner with glue dots:

For the inside, the sentiment is from the Magical Mermaid stamp set in Fresh Fig ink, the bubbles are from the Artisan Textures stamp set in Balmy Blue ink. From the same DSP used on the front, I used a ¾” x 4” piece to adhere on the side, and then adhere the sand dollars and coral:

So, what do you think?? I really like how my version turned out and this was a fun way to get creative from some not so typical inspiration!! For my next card, I’m going to try and create a flower with some framelits that you would never think to use, so stay tuned!!
