Sea of Mermaids

Hello and welcome to the start of a new week and a new theme, the Myths & Magic Suite! When I first saw this suite in the 2018 Occasions Catalog, this was on my “must” list! I saw so much fun and creativity with everything in this suite, I couldn’t wait to order it! I’ve created a few things so far (One of a Kind, Glitter, Unicorns, and Rainbows, and Triple W Fold Card), so before these products are gone forever (yes, all the products from this suite will be retired May 31st) I wanted to get one last week in!!

The card base is Dapper Denim cardstock cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½” and scored at 4 ¼”:

The base layer is Whisper White cardstock cut at 4” x 5 ¼”, Soft Sky ink is sponged on the upper half. The clouds are from the Myths & Magic 6” x 6” Glimmer Paper in iridescent, punched out with the Tree Builder Punch:

I chose to start with this DSP from the Color Theory Designer Series Paper Stack in Dapper Denim:

Even though the Magical Mates Framelits Dies come with a smaller “wave” die, I wanted them to be bigger and used the one from the Seasonal Layers Thinlits Dies. The die is placed at the top of each color change and then I trimmed the white off the end:

On a piece of Whisper White cardstock, stamp the mermaid image three times in Memento ink. The mermaid bodies are colored in with Stampin’ Blends, Light and Dark Pool Party, Light and Dark Smoky Slate, and Light and Dark Night of Navy. The face and arms are colored in with Ivory and the hair is colored in with Light and Dark Crumb Cake, Light Pumpkin Pie and Dark Calypso Coral, and Dark Pink Pirouette and Light Lovely Lipstick Stampin’ Blends. Wink of Stella is brushed on the body and the eyelids and then cut out with the coordinating die:

To place the Dapper Denim waves on the base layer, I placed my ruler at the 3” mark across the cardstock and then adhered the first layer. I did this so that it would be straight across and lining up the other pieces would be easy:

Starting with the second wave layer, adhere with Mini Dimensionals and then adhere one of the mermaids, doing this for the third and fourth layers. The final layer, adhere Dimensionals along the bottom of the base layer and then place the wave layer on top. I used scissors to trim the pieces that overlapped the card base:

I used Glitter Enamel Dots in Dapper Denim to make it look like bubbles coming up from the waves:

I cut one of the glimmer clouds in half, adhered those to each edge, and then adhered the remaining cloud with Dimensionals. This completed piece is then adhered to the card base:

The inside sentiment from Magical Day stamp set is stamped on a piece of Whisper White cardstock, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”, the bubbles are stamped in Dapper Denim ink, the seahorses are stamped in Memento ink, and then colored in with Light and Dark Old Olive, Light and Dark Smoky Slate, Light and Dark Pool Party, and Light and Dark Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends:

I am an Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrator located in Norfolk, Virginia and was first introduced to Stampin' Up! in 2004 when I attended my very first card class with my Mother-in-Law and I was immediately hooked! I first started out by making simple holiday cards and over the years as my stash has grown, so have my card and craft making skills. It has always warmed my heart when family and friends love my cards, but they actually keep them! In 2016 I decided to become a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator and figured I could just do it for a hobby, but now I am going to branch out for all to world to see. So grab your favorite beverage, sit in your favorite chair, and join me as I share my cards and crafts with you! Enjoy!
